((As I keep saying, Scythe needs more socializing/facetime. So for this I'll need some friendly souls (no bad taints fr this thread) to come forth and get to know him. Dragons & riders encouraged because he'll need support to get into the academy when the time comes!))
Scythe hadn't moved from his spot since Takumi left for the sands to lay her egg. It did drive him mad knowing that even though he was no longer under control and he'd never harm anyone unless necessary, he was forbidden to go near his egg or it's mother! If he tried he'd be attacked on all sides. Despite his hatred of this truth, he did understand it. Hell he was glad the protection for the eggs was so strong. Still, he found himself depressed. He was laying down now with no real motivation to move. But also he knew now he couldn't really move too much anyway. He needed to stay where Takumi knew he'd be in case a messenger was sent.
How the heck are they going to send me messages anyway? Oh why didn't we plan on this?
The large Air dragon snorted in frustration. He had just closed his eyes again when he heard an avian cry that caught his attention. He looked about slightly before he heard it again. Then he saw the white speck approaching in the distance. Hmm, a little gryphon.... Scythe admitted his confusion as the creature came right for him. Naturally it was safe since he only ate meat when he absolutely had to. But still... When he landed right before him Scythe watched as the little fellow presented a parchment in his blue talons. Scythe had to be careful unrolling it due to his talons, but he finally was able to read. The gryphon perched on his shoulder which made him smile
Greetings Air Scythe! I'm afraid we have not formally met, I am Sarafina. Rider of Fire Anala. I am writing because your Takumi has just landed on the sands and has laid her egg. Congratulations! You two have sired a Water!
"Oh Bless Anala and her rider!...A Water! Wonderful!" Scythe was almost hoping for an ice since that would probably earn the child some extra respect but any breed was wonderful. And since it was a water it wouldn't look TOO much like him so hopefully would not receive too much flack from others....although...he would like a child who looked like him at least partially. He read on.
I dislike the injustice that you are not allowed near the sands but all of us will do whatever we can to keep you updated on your little one. I shall send Kite whenever i can and Ayana herself will seek you out as well. And I will try myself as well so we can finally meet. My Anala has said good things about you. Take Care and we will be in touch! Sincerely, Sarafina
Scythe smiled again. Ever grateful for his new found support system. Kite flew from his shoulder to sit before his face again looking at him expectantly
"Thank you little fellow. Here-" He hit a nearby tree with his tail to cause some fruit to drop. Scythe pushed a piece with his nose to his messenger. Who happily gobbled it up "Here, take this as well" He added picking off a loose scale from his leg "So they know you found me" Kite took the black scale in his blue beak and took off in a swift flight towards the academy grounds Again Scythe watched and sighed. he was so happy to know about his egg and that he had allies....but still at the moment he felt so alone....

((Weeee~ I shall throw in both my characters It'll be funnnn~ ))
The day was warm and windy and the two siblings were out together for a run together, well, A run for Sebastian and Rin, while Sirius and Lalaithion took to the air gracefully. They decided it would be an interesting turn out towards the jungle were there were more obstacles to make their run a little more interesting. However, they weren't going to go far into the jungle, they planned on staying on the edge, within sight of the Academy.
Sebastian and Rin wove through the trees with ease as Lalaithion and Sirius, floated easily on the thermal's, the tips of his wings brushing softly against the tree-tops. Occasionally Sebastian would look up and admire his sister's dragon. However beautiful the forest dragon's coloration was, it was nothing compared to his Rin's coloration, nor did the dragon have soft fur. It was always a plus.
Soon they broke out through the tree's heading for the cliff that over-looked the academy. Rin's pace increased slightly, and Lalaithion took that as a challenge for a race to the edge.
"I don't think you'll be able to out run a flying dragon, Sebastian" Lalaithion called down to him.
"Oh yeah? Well, I think I -can-" He called back at the dragon. "As long as you play -fair-"
"But then you ruin the fun" Lalaithion laughed as the began to get nearer to the edge. They both were in sight, and both Dire-rider and Dragon rider slowed their pace when they realized that another Dragon had already occupied the edge. "Or, we can have an unforeseen circumstance rule this race to be finished at a tie."
"You just -don't- want to admit that I could possible -beat- you" Sebastian joked back, as the large forest dragon landed gracefully next to Sebastian as Rin came to a stop. "So, I'm going to assume he lives at the Academy too?" Sebastian questioned, hopping off Rin and scratching her ears as she caught her breath. Rin leaned gently into the touch quite pleased with the run, and looking forward to the run back. She wasn't at all interested in the Dragon that they had come across. Dragons were everywhere, and she had gotten used to them doing whatever they wanted really.
"I don't recognize him, do You Lai?" Sirius responded climbing down his leg from her saddle. She landed on her feet like a cat and dusted her self off before rearranging her clothing that may have rumbled in the flight. She wore tan breeches with a white short sleeve shirt. Her normal belt and pouches were set in place. "I mean, I've at least seen majority of the dragon's at the Academy from afar, and I don't think I've seen him or her." She looked at her Twin. To her Tan colored, he wore more darker colored breeches, a dark brown almost black and brown shirt.
"Nope. But I'm sure he has good reason to be here." Lalaithion responded. "You know, a joke might cheer him up"
"You even try to pull a prank on the unsuspecting dragon, and I'll ignore you for a week." Sirius snapped at him. "Besides, I'm pretty sure he knows we're here, we're not exactly being quiet"
"You couldn't do that even if you tried." Lalaithion chortled softly. "Besides, I don't think an introduction could hurt...." He made sure his wings were folded down completely before slowly approaching the Air. "Hello there. A nice day to be out sunning oneself, don't you think?" He didn't recognize the air as an ex-Taint, but even when/if he did. as long as the other dragon didn't attack him or his rider, he wasn't going to be hostile. He knew Taints were slowly returning to somewhat normal lives after the fall of Nidgghog, or was it Nidgghig? He couldn't remember.
"You're a spazz, sis" Sebastian told her, laughing as he ruffled her hair like he used to do when she was younger.
"Oh, stop it! I'm trying to teach him polite manners instead of always pulling pranks on people. You're not helping!" She waved off his hand, but grinned at him as she redid her ponytail. She always enjoyed the brotherly affection he gave her. She had missed it while he had been gone.
She laughed softly when Rin whined at Sebastian and came up to greet Sirius. "yes, you are cute and adorable as well" Sirius said, giving her some attention as well. They both returned their attention to the Two dragons, as Lalaithion greeted the Air.

Scythe heard the group approaching long before they were aware of his presence. His typical long Air ears were quite good at that. He held still and listened. There was a dire and a dragon...a smaller breed, and their riders After just a moment he could tell they were of no threat. They were just about to have fun. Although doing this in the jungle could be dangerous. Surely they knew this? It soon became clear they were coming right for him. But he continued to remain still. When they were behind him and finally saw him he shifted his head just enough to be able to look at them from the corner of his pale golden eye. The dragon was a male forest and he approached with a friendly greeting so Scythe finally turned his head to greet them back. The two humans looked as if they were siblings. This made Scythe wish more that he and Takumi had two eggs. Siblings were a blessing! He had to shake any sad feelings about his egg out of his mind. he focused again on the forest dragon. "Hello there. Yes. It is a lovely day, Sun bathing does indeed take the edge off" He looked out again towards the Academy. Takumi was safe there with their egg but he still couldn't stop thinking about them. Perhaps this was a good chance to ease his mind. He slowly made himself stand up ans stretched like a cat. Surely now they could see he was a former taint?...no, perhaps not. Anala had told him he hardly looked like one beside the mostly black coloring. "Forgive me if I seem a tad slow in response. I have a lot on my mind currently, but I shall try to subside it." He shook himself and fluffed his wings for a moment to loosen himself up. "Anyhow, my name is Scythe...don't worry I won't harm any of you. It is nice to meet new faces" He smiled softly at them He looked at the group and bowed his head respectfully. "I must admit it's rare for me to see anyone out in the jungles. Do you come out here often?" ((YAY for long posts! right now I'm a tad lacking sadly >_< But this should be fun! ))

((OOC: I just now caught this, but in your letter from sarafina you put rider twice: , "I am Sarafina. Rider of Rider Anala." I just thought you'd like to know. ))
The black coloring seemed off to Sirius, and maybe Lai noticed it. however if he did, he made no mention to either the Air, or to herself. The Air dragon, who had introduced himself as Scythe was friendly enough. She stopped petting Rin and moved slightly closer to Lalaithion as she watched the interaction between the two dragons.
"Scythe, huh? I am Lalaithion, This is my partner Sirius and her Twin Sebastian. The dire's name is Rinalias" Lalaithion indicated which person and animal was which with his tail and smiled when Scythe reassured them that he meant no harm. "I'm sure that if you had meant any harm, we wouldn't be chatting, instead we'd be throwing a match in the jungle." He said this in good cheer and stretched.
"Don't mind him, He's a goof sometimes" Sirius commented, coming to stand next to Lalaithion. "It's a pleasure to meet you" She said just loud enough for the Air to hear her. She hadn't actually met an ex-taint or even a taint up close before so it was an...interesting experience to say the least.
"I think its an honor to meet you." Sebastian said, staying where he was.
"I am -not- a goof. You just work to hard." Lalaithion retorted, before returning his attention to the Air. "We're just out for a run. We wanted more of a challenge, than just in the fields. We don't plan on going too deep into the jungle. besides, Sirius would freak if we got lost." Lalaithion rolled his eyes when Sirius poked him in annoyance. "What brings you out here?"

((Corrected! Thanks As I say I was probably tired when I wrote it lol)) Scythe chuckled at their friendly banter "Well it is an honor to meet you all as well. I'm here much of the time really...being an outcast kinda makes it helpful to live out in the wilderness....Not that I don't enjoy company of course! I'm very glad to see some friendly faces out here for once" He stretched a little more to get comfortable "I will be honest, at the moment I am at this spot because I am thinking and worrying. You see I won a flight this season and my mated, Water Takumi, now has our egg on the sands at the academy....I'm not even allowed to see either of them and while I understand why, it is painful" Obviously they were not of the crowd who distrusted all taints or they would not come near him. Still, he knew not to complain too much. Complaining was bad but discussion was good. All the same he didn't want to make this group uncomfortable. "Forgive me, I must admit I'm not used to feeling so many emotions over matters like this" He turned and sat closer to then so he didn't seem aloof. "Also I must say there's nothing wrong with being a 'goof', it just means you're good at having fun. And personally I envy that. I'm hoping that now that the war is over and Nidhogg gone I can have some myself." He then looked at Sirius "There's nothing wrong with hard work either of course. It's very rewarding" He smiled kindly He paused. Still unfamiliar with extended conversation. But it was a skill he wanted to improve. So he fished for a question in his mind. "So tell me how long have you been at the Academy? Life there seems so foreign to me I must admit"

Lalaithion grinned when Scythe chuckled. "We'll have to hope things can change. It'll take time. But I'm sure eventually things will perk up." He stretched his wings out with cat-like grace before settling them back out.
"Oh that's great. Congratulations!" Sirius exclaimed when she heard the news. "I'm sure you must be very pleased, despite being able to go see them." She smiled settling herself on Lalaithion's paw. "And That is all right. Sometimes emotions can get confusing."
"Especially if your sensitive." Sebastian piped up, as he walked up to nudge Sirius. Sirius just rolled her eyes at him. "I think I agree. Having fun brightens up everyone's day. Even if they won't show it. Everyone needs to take time off at some point to have fun."
"I think You and Lalaithion are meant for each other, rather than me." She muttered, nudging him back with her elbow. When She heard the compliment, she blushed slightly. "Why, thank you. I do my best to help others."
"I think she's one of the best healers around" Lalaithion boasted slightly. She elbowed his leg that she was sitting on.
"How long Have we been?" Sirius took a minute to think. "Several years at least. I've lost track. Three I think."
"More like two." Lalaithion Corrected.
"I have only been here for maybe a month. We were more located north, before heading back down here." Sebastian answered, deciding to sit against Rin who had laid down near Lalaithion and watch the going-ons. "And I agree. It is a little bit foreign. I've been more to traveling than to actually staying in one place." Sebastian started stroking her soft fur.
"It gets interesting, to say the least. And its awesome to meet all the new candidates who come in."
"And play pranks on them" Lalaithion added. "Or other mischief you can find."

Sebastian smiled. "Well, We'll have to hope you can at least see your little one soon." Rin whuffed her agreement, slightly leaning against Sebastian. She liked to lean on him, at least gently.
Sirius smiled. "Yes, I am. I work at the academy as much as I can."
"Sometimes too much." Lalaithion muttered.
Sirius rolled her eyes. "Sarafina? Oh, we've probably worked together, but We've never actually met." She smiled up at the dragon. "No worries. This war has been awful on everyone."
"Sometimes it's the memories that keep her working too much" Lalaithion quipped. "However, we each deal with our bad memories in our own way." They had seen death enough, even if they hadn't been on the front lines, fighting.
"Yeah, well. I let Lalaithion work himself out of trouble now that he's now longer little." Sirius said after Scythe's explanation. "He toes the line, but hasn't gone over it yet. It helps that he has a new friend to go blow off energy with."
Lalaithion chuckled.
"It can be. Unless, of course, trouble is stirred up." Sebastian replied, finally piping in after letting his twin and her dragon finish their say. "However, I don't know how long I'll be at the academy. I met be off on assignments and such. I hear word of rebuilding the cities that were devastated during the war. And Eventually I'm dragging her down home for a visit for the family." He rolled his eyes when Sirius just gave him a "just try it look" Rin chuffed, a dire laugh that sat in her chest.

Scythe smiled. It was always interesting to him to hear of others lives at the Academy. He never exactly "dreamed" about Academy life per say, but ever since he hatched and bonded he knew that the tainted way was the wrong way. And he loathed having to obey a "master" to do such horrid things. Even his bonding was forced in a way. The Sekkaians just seemed more Natural and (for the most part) more Just. The second Scythe realized he was no longer under such control is when he fled. Living as an outcast in a sense. For a while he felt that would be his life, but the longer it went on the more he realized he craved purpose and comrades and contentment When he mated with Takumi he felt he could finally have it but the Academy's forces STILL seemed intent on keeping him a loner. He knew that wasn't the reasoning nor was it personal, but it still enraged him. It was then he realized, they were right, he did need to do SOMETHING to stay positive and have fun. The mention of him being a new friend greatly perked him up from his gloomy mood. He looked out over the cliff's edge at the open horizon "Lalaithion, Sirius mentioned burning energy. I understand Forests are fast, would you perhaps be interested in a race sometime? I was considered one of the best in speed an agility back in the day but I'd be curious to see how I match up to you...obviously you'd have the upper hand with your breed" In truth Scythe hadn't exorcized his skills in a long while. Not since before Nighogg was captured. The closest he really came was during Takumi's mating flight. And that was more just a sample for her. He greatly wanted to use his skills in a non lethal situation. ((Blech, failpost. But hey it's leading to fun! ))

((Sweeet.))
Lalaithion Smiled when the offer of a race was mentioned. "A race would do you good," Sirius said, raising an eyebrow at him. Sebastian laughed.
"I would -love- to see a race. It would be interesting to see an Air versus A forest. I heard Air's were faster."
"Forests can be fast as well. depends on how they're built. Lalaithion's built more for speed and strength." Sirius replied.
"Yes, but can't air's manipulate the air? wouldn't that be cheating?"
"Depends on the dragon, I think. I wouldn't know. Air's aren't my specialty. Why don't you ask the Air standing before you?" Sirius responded. "And I don't think it would, if they don't say so in the rules."
"So wanna see this race" Sebastian said again, deciding to plop down against Rin, who decided that curling up next to him would also be a good idea.
Lalaithion, who watched the two argue amongst themselves before turning towards Scythe. "A race would be fun. Why not we have one now? Let these two decide for this first race." He grinned, the thought of racing through the air exciting him. "What do you say?"
((Last race I participated in, we did two posts each, and then the winner was decided with Random.org, but if you want to do it differently, let me know.))

"Ah, I see then." Sebastian nodded as the information was fed to him. "can't forests also manipulate the forest?" He pondered aloud. "Since Air's manipulate air.."
Sirius just shook her head and found a nice rock to sit on to view the race. "Depends on what you mean by manipulating the forest." She responded. "There's a large library back at the Academy you can do your research. I wanna watch a race, instead of debate philosophy on dragon abilities."
Lalaithion shook his head at them, while stretching out his limbs and wings. "How about you can take to the air and I can weave up and down within the canopy, depending on how thick it gets." He amended. It'll prove a challenge, but also wont get me turned around as easily" He wandered to stand next to Scythe and viewed the area of which he was describing that sounds wonderful. He turned his head back to Sirius. "You going to sit this one out?"
"Yup! Wouldn't want to leave Sebastian here alone. You know what happened last time he rode a dragon. And it was an earth." She smirked as Sebastian nudged her.
"that was only of convenience! I wouldn't have done it otherwise."
"And of your curiosity." Rin whuffed at the two of them, signalling that they should get over it. She never really got the whole pester each other, but then, humans always did funny stuff.
"So I guess at the count of three, Shall you count off?" He was relaxed, yet ready for take off.
~~**~~~ ((I guess. Not counting these posts, we could do one post describing our tasks to get there, and the secound post the winning/ reaching the goal. Random.org can help decide the winner. and yes, your explaination made sense.))

((Ok taking a stab at this lol)) Scythe nodded at Lalaithion. He himself needed some more obstacle to be fair. But as he looked over the cliff edge he realized that the wind was picking up fast. "Perhaps I can try to weave around the wind gusts and use the air currents instead of making a straight B-line. That way I'll have some trials of my own to be fair" He smiled at the Forest dragon. And then to the riders. "Don't get too close to the edge, it's a long fall" The air dragon went to the edge next to Lalaithion and positioned himself. Focusing on the other cliff that was their finish line. As suggested he began to count down to their takeoff "One!" With that, Scythe was off. And Lalaithion flew down to the treeline. Scythe focused on his path. As he suspected, the wind buffeted him and proved a difficulty in flying. But he was ready, he beat and shifted his wings to give him a boost forward. He felt another wind gust approaching so he turned sideways and dove down to avoid the brunt of it. It also provided him an opportunity to swoop back up and forward very swiftly. The thrill that overcame him was so joyous he seemed to forget he was competing. To fly for fun and positive purpose was so invigorating. He almost cried out a 'woohoo'! for the sheer joy of it. He glanced down but did not see the Forest dragon yet so he again looked at the cliff ahead. He dove again and swiveled several times to weave around the wind. He knew he could easily go faster, but this race to him was not for winning, it was for fun. Something he greatly needed. When a particularly strong wind gust came his way Scythe folded his wings and dove but he twisted and spun as he did. No doubt anyone watching was getting quite a show. As he dove, he though he saw another flash of green within the trees. With that Scythe snapped open his wings and climbed upward to head towards the cliff face. Now using the wind to lift him and his wings to propel him forward. ((Do let me know if you want anything changed! ))

With one having been said, Lalaithion Dived bombed down to the forest, only catching himself before he plunged completely into the thick canopy. He weaved and dodged tree limbs and trees, popping back up into the open air to keep on the right track, and to go over difficult to dodge vine clumps. He felt at home at the forest, and his heart sang with joy at racing at faster speeds than the Dire. This was a more fair race in his mind and He enjoyed it. It wasn't hard for anyone to lose him. Birds constantly flew away in dignified at being startled, and when he surfaced from the sea of green, he was more easily visible. Lalaithion looked like a dolphin when he would jump out to keep his bearing and or to dodge bullets. Pride swelled in her as she watched her forest travel. She was also glad that she hadn't come along for this particular race since Lalaithion was dangerously weaving through the trees. That, and she would probably slow him down. She also admired Scythe. He was so agile in the air, even if he had to dodge all the gusts. She was glad that he could start to enjoy himself with the race, and she just sat and smiled as she watched them. On his next jump, he noticed that he was getting closer and closer to the goal that had been set. He didn't bother checking to see where the air was or if he was in the lead, he merely dived back down, and found more strength to boost him forward, weaving in through the trees. The trees that he narrowly missed, his Tail his and they shook with the impact. He was happy to have possible made a new friend, and he hoped he was allowed at the academy soon. ((Best two out of three, Lalaithion Won--> Just so you can adjust your next post accordingly. ))

((This'll be super short uhg trying to get my groove back seeing how the hatching has stolen much of it lol)) The wind had picked up it seemed. This would not work in Scythe's favor of course. He had to shift and change his wings almost constantly. A flash of darker green amongst the light green trees told Scythe that Lalaithion certainly had more of an advantage. But this made him smile. Had this been a "mission"...meaning a task given where he had to hunt and kill someone. He would push through the wind and maneuver in whatever way was necessary. But the fact that this was a free fun morally safe event, Scythe was for the first time able to relax and not care about how he flew. He focused again on the finish line cliff. He decided to push through the wind. Beating hard he quickly got closer and closer. But then....A familiar flash of green heading right up the cliff face Aha, clever lucky devil He thought happily. He flew harder and was on the cliff within seconds but Lalaithion was already there. Granted it was a VERY close win, but Scythe didn't mind either way. Scythe bowed. "Well done my friend! That was VERY refreshing! And congratulations! I must apologize I'm not sure I gave it my best...I mostly wanted to enjoy it you see" He looked back towards the other ridge where their audience was waiting "I hope they enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed racing eh? I suppose we should head back....why don't we both fly then you'll have to feel the wind I had to work with" He laughed happily. A joyous new sensation.
