Title: Dead and rotten - Carni's trash bin
Description: +scribbles :O
Carni - June 29, 2010 03:27 PM (GMT)
Since my scanner is malfunctioning still, it'll only be a few fictional or semi-fictional texts for now.
The first is about Divra and Razak, who have both been bugging me for the last few days so I decided to pull them out of my head and set them somewhere. I forgot half of what was buzzing through my brain when I started to type it up and it might contain slight gore and such - so be warned when you read on ;)
I might add the scribble I have of Divra later on.
Blood. There was blood everywhere. He had never before seen so much blood... it was running from his ears, spilling over his lips with every ragged breath he exaled. It covered his face, his chest, his legs, so warm, so cold. He could feel the jagged spike move when he tried to swallow past his pain, move in his very chest. He wanted to fall, to let go, to collapse but even that simple wish was denied, the deadly weapon that had pierced through his lungs keeping him upright, keeping him standing like a puppet whose puppetier had gone to drink tea. His arms twitched but did not move as he wished them to. His sword fell with a soft thud into the murky depths below, fallen from his hands gone limp. Divra... he pleaed but from his mouth came nothing but a gurgle, a wet sound raising from his chest. He flinched, shivered in agony as another wave of pain came and rushed through his mind. More blood. Where oh where did all that blood come from? Was there even anything left in his body? His vision blurred, then cleared up again. Was this the end? Was it over now? Oh he wished it to end. The pain to stop throbbing through his mind, shredding him to pieces as he hung limply from the spike of his attacker. Let it be over now..., he thought dizzily, coughing up blood as the spike inside his chest moved again. And this time, he could not stop coughing, could not stop spitting his lifeblood from his mouth, could not pause to catch his breath. There was no room left in his chest for air, no place to draw a breath into. He tried to cough more, twitching and shivering, a last spasm running down his spine. Let me go..., he thought, his body stilling, his warmth vanishing already, muscles stiffening. His last breath had gone too fast, almost unnoticed. His eyes had gone wide and now grew empty, hollow orbs that held no trace of his former personality, his face looking old from the pain he had felt the last seconds of his life. Only a hint of those tiny wrinkles from smiling and laughing in amusement too often in a long forgotten past remained. A dead body among thousand others, a man who had once been Razak Halon. Talon of the deadly Kisses. Dragonrider. Friend.
When Divra arrived, even the Attacker had vanished, only a single corpse remained, still pinned grotesquely to a tree, standing upright as if waiting her return. At first she thought he might still be alive, ripping the jagged spike from his body, catching his stiff form as he fell. But there was no light in his eyes, he did not shine for her in the darkness anymore, no breath, no words coming from his torn mouth. „Move!“, she whispered desperately, clutching at his cloth, ripping at the wound as if anything could make him come back to life again. „Move...“, she cried, her long, serpentine body shuddering, her bleeding face filled with dispair. „MOVE!“, she screamed, twitching, laying limp on the ground. The pain in her chest was so heavy, she could hardly breath. Her heart hurt so badly, she thought it might stop beating. She wished it to. He pain grew and eased, grew again and came in waves, each of them stronger than the previous until she was nothing more than a mindless worm that twitched and shuddered from time to time, her snout resting on her riders torn chest, her ragged breath growing heavy and slow. Her body was half sunken in the swamps now, a Frog creeping over her tail, then fleeing hectically while another wave of agony threw her around, tail thrashing against a tree. She wanted to die, to sleep, to flee but her mind would not obey, only hollow emptyness filling her head. You are in shock., some cruel part of her distantly mused, distant from her twitching body, staring down at her torn and bleeding self. If I don't move... some day I must die..., another muffled noise rose in her head, falling utterly silent again. She felt as if she was loosing touch with her body entirely, the pain easing until she felt nothing but warmth. We will be together again, finally..., she thought, her mind clouding further as her body begun to stiffen aswell, every breath she exhaled seeming like a piece of life she spit out. The water around he stole her warmth, the air cooled her wounds. She had struggled so hard to survive, fought so long and now it seemed all she needed to do was to stop. All she had to do was to lay down and die... Her eyelid closed, opened again, then sunk back closed... Soon... soon she would be with the love of her life again... ...I never told.... how much I love him..., she thought distantly, her thoughts slowing down together with her breath. She begun to slip away, her muscles loosening, her body sinking deeper into the swamp. And Razak... slipped from her grasp....
Her head had fallen to the side hours ago but when her claws twitched and met no resistance, her eye slowly slid back open again. A long time passed until a thought and a picture finally reached her mind and there it remained for another moment, nothing reacting to it's content. He is gone..., finally crossed through her hollow soul, echoing uselessly around without any reaction. Minutes passed until her head finally rose from the mud. Her wounds had stopped bleeding long ago but she still couldn't see with both her eyes, her left eye not sending images as it should. Still, she had no mind to worry about it, her neck protesting as she forced cold muscles to obey. There. A dragon, back turned to her. He must have thought she was dead. Dead like her rider. She saw him swallow, catching a glimpse of what he ate, a mud covered sword laying only inches away from his frontpaw. He stole him from me... echoed through her numb mind. She rose from the swamp like a serpent, feeling no pain as her muscled protested, twitched and tried to disobey her, about to throw her back into the murky depths. But her will was victorious, making no noise as she attacked. A single, deadly strike and it was over again. She loomed over the body of the Forest she had killed, watched the confusion in his eyes while he died, the suprise before the light begun to fade. He had stolen Zak from her, he and his friends had made the light vanish that had shone through her entire life. „Razak... Razak, how can I see in the darkness without you?“, she murmured, her soul still empty, finding no answer, not there and not in the world around her. She slowly sank down again, staring at the mudcovered sword. The last thing that remained of her rider. Would anyone even remember him? Remember her? Would anyone miss them? A long, deep sigh, withheld for much too long escaped her scarred jaw and she closed her eye, picking up the sword before her and turning to leave the place where her rider had died. „He was such a noble, kind soul... How could they take my light from me and leave me in darkness? ...there is no justice left in this cruel world...“, she murmured as she retreated into the swamp.
It was the last time the world saw her but everytime the fog rose, rumors would rise aswell, stories about her unshed tears gone adrift. Stories of her mad soul haunting the tainteds who dared to come near her swamp, stories of her loving voice, guiding the brave and kind savely through...

Aawwww Divra. ;_____; *crying*
Carni - July 9, 2010 04:29 PM (GMT)
Finally, I got my scanner to work. It's only just a bunch of scribbles I did during college (on lined paper! >:O), so the quality is somewhat... crappy.
Let's start with something entertaining, not quite belonging to Sekkai.
We have that Pen and Paper Roleplaygroup here playing in a world that has all sorts of riding mounts, including huuuuge bugs. Or scarabs rather.
And then there is that stupid phrase among Programmers that says 'It's a feature, not a bug!', if something unplanned occurs in their programs that doesn't crash the entire thing.
Well, add those two and put myself in the middle of it, and you'll get this:
For those among you who know programmer slang, there's a second joke about it: it's a segmentation fault aswell.
(The scarab says 'Meow?' in german - and I only had three colors besides my pens *sobs*)
The weird looking thing at the base of it's neck is a saddle... sorta.
I suck at humans.
I was looking at Kess' Beedragon and doodled around during college again. I think I still like her version of the Beedragon much better, but I wanted to try out how she drew his head and wanted to see how a different style of wings would look.
So here goes Mr. Beedragon turned into blue crap -.-
Also - every second plate is darker, for no apparent reason. Beestripes? I can't remember.
Besides - the wings are way too small to carry his weight. It's all about the basic idea, myuss?
Again, being distracted during college results in concept ideas, this time two sets of similar looking horns - I think I had Hephs babys in mind, making them look related altough the earth and the three fire eggs are not (if I understood that correctly?)
Basically, I used two different styles for similar designs:
(I love the tiny spikes growing in between every neck-plate <3333)
More cartoon-y looking slim Fire
with a tiny flame above his head so he can see in the dark, myuss!
I'm somewhat tempted to turn that design for the Fire into a real dragon... but I'm not really that sure about it yet...
I also have a couple of scribbles for the Skinner-breed I designed but I want to edit those first, so I might add them later.
Seiss - July 9, 2010 04:35 PM (GMT)
That's a scarab I want for a pet >w<
And such lovely curling horns <333
CloakAndDagger - July 9, 2010 04:49 PM (GMT)
Daww, the Kitty beetle steals my heart. x3
But Zomg, Beedragon! <33333! He may be blue, but he just looks so happy rearing up like that! Maybe he spots honey in the distance. I also really liked how you did his wings in a different style! Thats cool! I wouldn't have thought of that. :333
I loves him and all his lovely Carni-Art-Ness. <33333333
Carni - July 9, 2010 04:59 PM (GMT)
Aw, thank's Seiss and Kess <3
There's still so much room for improvement... some day I shall produce something looking decently well.
I'm glad I didn't make an insult to your original Beedragon-design ;) I just had to try it out myself ^^
I was thinking... Maybe the deserts in Assaria have something like those too? I really like the idea of having bugs/insects be the transporting-vehicles. Stupid, huge and friendly unless you run across a carnivoric one. They'd even be useful by either producing dung or converting it into soil that can be used on the Barren Fields. But that's just a random thought :P
CloakAndDagger - July 9, 2010 05:07 PM (GMT)
I'm glad his design is interesting enough to try out!
And, man, insect mounts would be more than awesome. *_* Think about how many kinds there could be!
Laughing Dove - July 9, 2010 11:35 PM (GMT)
Permission to suggest the bugs in Zoology thread? :D

Working on that fire-concept from above, planning to turn it into a pixel at a later time... if I ever finish lining it...
Carni - September 17, 2010 04:18 PM (GMT)
I kinda never finished above's outlining but I did scribble around some more.
First off.... Auster.
The stuff on her neck is kinda.... randomly thrown there but I somewhat like the shape of her head. Her lower jaw closes hidden between her upper jaw - no lips and such to be seen from the side, I decided. It's just a tiny sketch anyway.
Who might this be?
(I put the spikes up on the neck/head on purpose, I know they are supposed to be located further down between the shoulders. Massive underbite ftw!)
Guess again, which dragon could this possibly be?
Let me give you a hint - it's one-of-a-kind and loooong overdue.
(Scan didn't turn out half as decent as the original. And yes, the tiny tufts on the ears and the little slub on the whiskers are not part of the original design. I thought it might help sensing this dragons element.
Also... the ears be killin' meh.)
Senaru - September 17, 2010 08:07 PM (GMT)
let me try posting a reply again :E first one didn't go through~
OMG. I love him so muchhhh~~~ he's awesome and perfect and like wow 8D *Foams and falls over*
Carni - September 17, 2010 08:54 PM (GMT)
Hehe, glad you like him! ^^ Apparently, so does my arting muse, so here's his pixel outline. Not sure if I'll finish him, but... meh.
Probably much larger than the final size:
(lines are not yet smoothened)
Inkith - September 18, 2010 11:33 PM (GMT)
*Dies from the awesomeness* I loves the fire draggie! And basically all of dem!!! So cool!!!!!!!
Balu - September 19, 2010 01:13 AM (GMT)
AWRRR IT'S A BALU BEAST ;u;
Thankyou Carnnnnn <33333 /slobbers on lovingly.
Auster and Lagrange are also fantastic 8D
Carni - September 24, 2010 03:05 PM (GMT)
Hihi, thanks Inkith, I'm glad people like my scribbles ;)
*snicker* I had a lot of fun drawing that toothface, Balubeans ^^ I must admit, I kept mirroring the smile while I was scribbling around and everyone would give me weird looks with raised eyebrows and such XD
Yesterday I dreamt about that scribble of Auster and found out that there was something impossible about my design, considering the original layout. Something about the eyes.... heck I wish I could remember what it was, I know I was pissed that I hadn't noticed it earlier... dayum... *scratches head* Something about the eyes or something about the jaw... I can't... remember...
I have been working on Lags pixel a little more, so I can show you two more WIPs...
The cleaned outline, finished fom of above's work. It might look shaky and thin but while the stuff above is nicer to look at, these lines are more fitting for the later final product.
Flat color thrown on him.
I always shade in grey, so this doesn't say anything about the final color. I'll probably shade the eye in red first aswell, as I usually do.
I normaly go this path:
Shade in grey (eyes in red, horns in beige)
Shift the color
Add more, colored details
So... I'll probably give up somewhere around step 1 XD
And no, that's no dirt down there, that's where I keep the colors I used so that I may pick them up quicker later on when they get more.Edit:
Did I mention that I love-love-love doing eyes but not the whole sucky stuff around them?
For now - red. On the left, all the colors I used for it.
Carni - December 17, 2010 08:22 PM (GMT)
I kinda never finished above's pixel (but might still do in the future if my muse kicks me in the butt again) but I did some concept pieces of an earth that's been floating around in my head for a long time now.
Earth for I hardly believe that I'll ever get the chance to make a Lava.
So far, there's no rider planned - as for now I imagine him being wild-born but since I don't know if that's even possible or plausible, it might chance if I turn him into a real character.
His name will either be Dreck, german word for dirt or Bracken, for the shape of his tailguard which I still have to put into a picture.
The rough shape of his body, lacking a lot of his spikes/thorns/plates aswell as his tailguard. I'm not sure if it's possible here but him being an earth and an heavy set one at that, I do not have wings planned thus far. They turned into his second set of front leg, which is slightly slimmer than the first but needed to support his weight. He's pretty slow, even considering the length of his steps and can charge only small distances. But if he does, be ready for the impact!
His feet, half hoove, half paw, covered in stoney-looking rough plating. Only three toes on all six.
The spikes growing on his back, legs... pretty much everywhere if you so want. Sometimes even in between scales. They'r supposed to look like rocks and be the colors of rocks. Or maybe they are rocks. All different kinds of it.
The Horn on his nose might still change it's shape, aswell as the scales on his neck but I like the general form of his head. His eyes are so small he can hardly see, let alone glimpse what he has in front of his nose. He's not a pretty fellow but strong and ready for war. And he's always grinning madly.
Laughing Dove - December 17, 2010 11:25 PM (GMT)
...I love that character design. That's awesome. <3
Carni - January 2, 2011 11:29 PM (GMT)
I need to find a faster way to do scales in pixuls rather than doing each one by itself :o
I even failed doing the overall shading of the head, being too fixated on the individual scales... gotta redo all of them later... *shot*
buuut! I haz a new Bracken/Dreck scribble aswell! *shows off at Dovers* Looket! Moar designpieces! XD *is happy someone likes her idea*
Still subject to change... might flatten those stones and pull them up some. But yeah, the basic concept is plates on top and stone-spikes to the sides. Fanning out a little like fern.
Carni - February 5, 2011 01:14 PM (GMT)
So instead of finishing the scribble I haz started with Maggers in it I got distracted by the crystals that have been handed out and decided to try a little pixeling those aswell...
Raw version before tweakening colors and adding the gold inside:
Final, somewhat blergh version:
Can't do gold, so it looks more like someone tried to squeeze a burnin' bird inside. Blergh. Also resizing ate some of the outlines, might have to redo those.
Or just leave the gold out and make a pearl out of the first version...
Taesil - February 5, 2011 01:30 PM (GMT)
Ho'man that's an awesome pixel! It looks so shiney, and beautiful! I envy your pixel skills ;3; <33333
Carni - February 5, 2011 03:31 PM (GMT)
Thankye Tae ;)
I tried it once more, approaching from a much different way and I think I'll just give up now. It's lumpy and much less shiny which I somewhat enjoy... but.. yeah.
If there's anyone with a yellow-uneven shaped crystal, you may use this if you wish, it doesn't fit either -.-'
Just claim it here so I know someone wants to use this pixel.
(Full size version)
I should probably go back to making these things much smaller because resizing seems to eat a ton of their quality... if there was any to begin with.
While we'r at it, that's where I last stopped working on Lag:
From here I'll probably chop the head off and do the neck seperately, putting them back together later on. Idk how to do his horn yet... so it's on hiatus for now.
Carni - February 6, 2011 12:23 AM (GMT)
I know it's a doublepost, but meh...
I was bored and still poking at crystals and since I never got a chance to say thanks for the awesome Irixu+Salus Thread we had, I figured I might do it this way:
Finally back down at a decent size.
You like Mane? ^^

asdfdfgsffhfg PIXELS *_*
They look positively jewelous!
Carni - February 6, 2011 03:26 PM (GMT)
Hihi, ty Seiss <3
I still think they'r somewhat shabby compared to what Kaiser and now Baru have crafted... but meh...
I guess it was meant more like a silver spiral inside
an golden orb or something like that... but I made it a flat disc of gold with a silver swirl on top of it, half buried in the gold below.
The spiral is not as evenly shaped as I hoped it would turn out but at least this time the gold actually looks golden instead of murky yellow.
*goes to take a look at Seissberds charries to see if any of them has an 'easy' crystal she might be able to do*
Carni - February 7, 2011 10:40 AM (GMT)
Another Doublepost, woot!
So it's out now, finally hatched... and altough it seems to me as if Kess hasn't seen it yet... I can post what I pm'ed Balu on Saturday, being unable to share it with ya guys because it... well it has a certain someone in it aswell... ;)
Imagine Maggers, arriving to check on his son a few months after he hatched...
(Used heavy ref from Baru's art to get those two right)
Also, there is the second half of the gift, an half-profile because the hatching itself did not give his weirdness enough credit I thought (that was before Baru drew him of course :P). Kess - it's completely up to you if you use anything, it's just a little helper for only so much can be squeased into a single hatching post... ^^Character Number- Name-
(Comes from both the beat of a song and also from life-pulse)Age-
Pulse is quite the handsome little boy at first sight, strong in chest and neck, with broad cheeks and curious small eyes. His main color is a dark slate-blue suggesting that his mother might have been a steel rather than what many would expect the Sonic Aeode. Along his back and on the tips of his two wings who sport only one wingfinger one can easily find traces of orange lines, splattered over his body like lightning, thinning out towards his belly and the edges of his wings. A similar weirdness is the location of his crystal, because it seemingly replaces whatever he once had as a bellybutton with orange glow. His stubby little nose only adds to the cuteness of his face, round and worth of cuddling it all day. He even seems to have a habit of puffing up his cheeks and pouting when facing a problem he cannot solve. Up from his throat curls a trompet-looking horn that ends at a level with his chin, with no holes along it's neck but for the round opening facing out from his chin. Up from his head, shaping a rough crown or crest along the back of his neck grow pipes of many different lengths, twisting and turning in a rather wild manner, like thick undergrowth or maybe badly cut hair. All of his pipes are a weird shift between silver and orange, or rather silver with the weird tendency to reflect orange colors alone and deep orange where no light truely touches it. His front legs are thick and heavy with muscles, apearing shorter than they are due their width, supporting a barrel-shaped chest with engough space to host enormous lungs. His hips are slender, almost skinny in comparison, sporting not one but two sets of legs, clearly showing his heritage from his father's side. The first pair of these legs seems twisted and stunted though, only reaching about halfway down to the ground. His second pair of hindlegs is still more than capable of carrying his rump and their hips quite clearly show why the first pair looks so awkward. They were never meant for simple things like walking. No, they were designed for greater deeds. For drumming. From the last pair of his hips curve two great hollow bones, covered with thick, leathery skin and filled with nothing but gas. On different levels, the bones seem to have holes which are entirely covered with veined skin, holes that create sounds thrumming through the gas-filled emptyness in his hips when one were to tap or beat on them. Muscles hold the skin tight or can loosen it just a little to avoid injuries or change the level of a tone. Thanks to these 'drums', Pulse has no tail to speak of, not even in between these two hollow bones and his walk is always accompanied with a low thrumming noise. He is, so to say, a walking wardrum, pipes and trompets included to make him a complete ochestra on legs.Personality-
Curious, Loyal, StoutPartner-
CloakAndDagger - February 7, 2011 02:26 PM (GMT)
Carni! I love him to little bits and pieces! I should have never doubted you. Forgive meeee. ;uuuuuuuuuu;
He is most handsome and epiiiic. <333333
If it's alright with you and Balu, I may give him Moar Crazy Trumpet Tail things! 8333 I also may end up having to move the interesting little neck trumpet. Lyre might get skewered when he hugs Pulse every couple of seconds. Maybe I could link it back to Magoria with two tonsil trumpets instead 8333
Thank you so much Carni, for making my baby. His personality is perfect. And he's just so awesome. ;u;
Carni - February 7, 2011 02:40 PM (GMT)
Go for it Kess XD Just add or change whatever feels the most comfortable for you, he's now yours and yours alone after all ^^ Have your muse take a leap at him in any way you might wish ;)
I'm glad you like him, really. I was scared you might not want a Sonic beb for Lyre after all but it was a Maggers beb and a unusual one at that so I thought 'pffff screw this, she's gonna get it, like it or no!'
CloakAndDagger - February 7, 2011 02:45 PM (GMT)
Thank you so much Carni! <3
Yes, you were right. *_* Oh Man. He's so awesome. Thank you for thinking of me at the contest. ;u;
Carni - February 25, 2011 10:07 PM (GMT)
So, Carni's style is very different from Kess' and thusly Proxy looks a bit different altough I intended no changes.
Horns and markings will be added at some later point - if I can bring myself to continue working on this piece, that is - so it's just a scetch of her body.
I had to draw the head like... fifty times... until I got it right. But now I'm rather happy with...
There's two things I need help with, though:
Something is off with her right frontleg. Idk what.
I'm not sure where her tailtip is supposed to re-emerge from behind her body...
(The bowlegs were a mishap at first... but I find it kinda cute and I think I'll keep them that way. So, there's nothing wrong with them curving so oddly ^^)
Scanner ate the quality.
Taesil - February 25, 2011 11:08 PM (GMT)
PROXYILUHERSOMUCH ;3; <3333 I think her tail tip would curl over the crest of her back or by the back of her haunches with the way it is curled now, but I'm not so sure. Anywho those bow legs are tres cutee :3
ManekiNeko - February 26, 2011 12:25 AM (GMT)
So cool! With the tail, if you haven't already tired, I'd recommend drawing the whole thing (as if her body was transparent) to see how thin it should be and how it would curve. Thet will also show you where it looks natural to have it emerge.
As for the front legs, I think the problem is that the leg in the background is too short when compared to the one in the foreground. You could honestly adjust either one to fix it, but I am in love with the foreground leg so you might want to try bending the one in the background to give it the appearance of greater length.
Hope this helps!
Carni - February 26, 2011 01:17 PM (GMT)
Thank you, both of you <3
@Tae: Iknowrite? I'm utterly in love with her bowlegs now! XD I'll see if the tail fits where you suggested. It looks like it, but the last time I tried it looked broken :P
I tried that, already erased it for the scan but something was always off and as soon as I removed the extra tail lines, it looked as if the whole thing was broken, which is why I always removed the tailtip again. But thank you, maybe I'll try it once again. Trial and Error seems to be the only way I can make at least some progress...
Ohhh, that's it! Thank you! Of course, the right shoulder is lower than the upraised left one, so the upper arm should extend further down, thusly the lower arm which has the proper length should connect at a different angle to reach the same point on the ground below! *slaps self* I hope changing that leg won't throw her off balance as it's the one carrying the most of her weight in that posture but I shall try. Because I don't want to touch the one in front. XD
Thanks again! <3
On a second note:
Happy Birthday Kia! You'r no longer jailbait! :P
I decided to go for a different approach on Galileo for once, because I always think bird-beaks do not quite fit onto a draconic head.
(Not happy with the largest purple dot. Yep - eagle was my reference.)
(If anyone else demands birthday-pic please remind me 1-2 days prior to it or else I'll utterly fail at remembering them. I'm bad at keeping birthdays in mind.)
Carni - June 20, 2011 08:01 PM (GMT)
Doubleposting once more...
Auster needed a pixelcrystal.
She was the only one lacking one.
Need to get better at those, Austers is the only I've done that I am really okay with.
Outfitting every profile with at least one pixel crystal: Success!
(Mostly thanks to other people :3)
Since my scribble of Zeal turned out to be rather messy...
Here's the birthday-gift for Nimirra I promised 14 days ago. Late but... I thought you might like it more than what I had finished on your actual birthday.
(Not sure if the color fits... there's quite the variation for imperial topaz...)
Carni - June 20, 2011 09:10 PM (GMT)
Let's just make this a triple-post because I dun want a certain person to miss it...
I remember a certain conversation with Seiss where the silly birdy tried to hide her birthday. Sneaky as I am... I wrote it down. I might still have gotten it wrong but it's worth risking it.Happy B-day Seissberd! <3
(Since I found no description of shape/color of Dhruva's crystal I thought something red and easy to spot on lighter colored skin + fragile would be fitting. Only that fragile is hard to pixel. :3 I hope you still like it
Yes, the blue backlight is intended as a certain creature glows blue.)
And just for shitz and giggles, matching skin+firecolor:
Seiss - June 20, 2011 09:59 PM (GMT)
So pretty crystals ;w;
Thank you so much *sobs on* ;uuuuuuuuuu;

Ever since I talked with Balu about her many-toed Lavalady concept I have been thinking of my own unfinished Lava-concept so... I'll just write it outa my head now and abuse my art-thread for that :3
It's mainly appearance and details.
He'll probably never been given a chance to exist.
Earth Bracken and Glass Nineeyes may or may not follow someday ^^
Fracture - Lava - Male
Fracture has often been called chubby or fat even and it is quite easy to see where these comments might be coming from. He looks squat even from very far away. A spot in the distance and already he appears rounded and boxy, almost as if someone shoved him into a small box and kept him there whilst growing. If you can dare to consider any box holding 130 feet dragon small. Fractures body seems to be oddly stunted and shortened at every angle, too much mass squished into too small a frame. His barrel-shaped chest is hanging a mere two feet above the ground, his back being so short that there seems to be hardly any gap between said chest and his hips, limiting the mobility of his spine somewhat. His legs seem like four gigantic pillars, being thick enough to leave the impression it ought to be impossible to lift them even an inch from the ground. In fact, Fracture seldom raises more than one foot at a time, needing the support of the other three to carry his enormous weight. The fact that all four of them look as if they have been pushed outwards from his body sometime during his growth does not help to improve the trust one might have in his walking capability. He has bowlegs on all four, hips and feet being much further under his body than his ellbows and heels until the smallest finger and toe that should have been pointing to the sides is turned to point forward instead. His lumbering gait is a waddle at best and turns into and awkward shuffle most of the times, turning him into one of the slowest dragons around.
This might seem to be enough reason to call him slugish, lazy and fat but there is indeed no fat coating his bones. Instead, muscles bulge and ripple under his skin almost to an obsene rate, rending his already short neck pretty much nonexistant. His head, already flat and triangular appears to be melting right into his shoulders and chest, a thick, stony ridge rising almost like a mohawk from between his eyes gradualy dwindling until it disappears between his shoulderblades. His eyes, not being overly small gazed upon by themselves seem sunken and lost under the heavy eyebrows that guard them against any and all attacks from above. Craning his head up is very much impossible without him either rearing up or sitting down, tilting his entire spine up and his head sideways until he can glance at the sky with the limited mobility his short neck can offer.
Being build like a tank certainly comes at a price and Fracture seems to pay it double for his already stunted and clumsy frame his coated in huge, thick plates that cover every inch of his body, the undersides of his feet and wings being the only true exception. These scales very much resemble blocks of stone, veins of different materials running through their cracked looking surface. To a certain degree they actually are stone. Hot lava that spattered across his own body that has now cooled down and covers his natural scales in even thicker layers of protection. Sometimes large chunks will chip off in layers, revealing another layer below that might just be colored differently, depending on what Fracture ate and walked upon during the time it came to cling to his body.
Unfortunately this almost imprenetable armor has another side to it besides merely hindering his walk further. The scales do not halt at his wings or even dwindle in size. If possible, their size almost seems to increase covering the entire upper side of his wings in overlapping scales. His wings were never large enough to sustain true flight but their added weight and loss off aerodynamic shape turn even the shortest glide into not much more but a slowed fall downwards. Except for their soft and vulnerable undersides they do at least serve well as shields even tho his abnormally enlarged wingmuscles cannot hold them stretched out and up for an extended amount of time.
Fractures round hips are actually rising higher than his shoulders, always giving him the appearance of a slow fall on his nose when he shuffles along, his tail trailing behind rather uselessly aside from being a counterweight. Like the rest of him, his tail is short and stubby, coated in huge plates on the upper side and smaller plates on the undersides. His tail also posesses the only thing remotely close to horns or spikes - long hooks the color of polished alabaster starting about halfway down and wandering down along both sides. These two opposing lines seem oddly useless for a weapon for the hooks curve down and inwards, their edges blunted by long use. Only in battle do they reveal their true purpose.
In the heat of battle Fracture usually transforms from his lumbering, useless self into a tight ball, his tail curling over his feet and belly, flattening out to cover as much of him as possible. The seemingly useles hooks fitting neatly into the gaps between his huge plates, pulled tight by muscles designed only for this purpose. His plated wings cover his sides from unwanted intruders and shield the rest of his joints, exposing only his heavily guarded spine to the world. If there ever were horns or spikes growing from his skull or spine they have long since broken off and been ground to shreds.
As unimpressive as his belching of molten rock might seem when watching Fracture try and crane his head up to gain some reach at least, as terrifying is the lava bursting from the gaps between his plates now, producing enough pressure and power to keep him rolling once he gained some momentum and to allow for small changes in direction. The ridge on his neck acutally serves some purpose here aswell, making it possible to keep on track even when crushing through minor obstacles.
The only problem being that in fact curling up into a ball renders Fracture completely blind, making it impossible to hit any fast fleeing object that undergoes rapid coursechanges and even worse making it impossible to tell friend from foe until he uncurls to take a look at what he smacked into.

I promised Balulu her birthday gift like... ages ago and finally had my brother mail it to me from my other computer that I couldn't reach myself XD
I know Maggers has white teeth and trumpets on his head.... but it didn't work out as planned. Maybe I'll tackle the trumpets once more sometime... ^^' And I should probably mention that I've never done anything lineless... let alone something from scratch with only my tablet and no scan to work on...
I got the scribble that started it all aswell, just in case someone would be interested...
Anyways, here it is:
(Fullsize so you can enjoy my failure at full capacity :3)
Happy belated Birthday Balululove<3
Your little extra scribble is coming soon, I promise!
