Although Ayumi started out with a flat, nasally voice and then grew to a not-so-flat, nasally voice, I really prefer her older music. Lately, especially in her last full albums, "Memorial Address" and "My Story", although she now has a beautiful, pleasing voice, she's lost what originally drew me to her music -- her feeling.

I know, I know, I'm just a fan, that's not true, blah blah blah. It's not that I wish anyone a sad life, but her older music always seemed so much more emotional. Even now, I admit that singing "LOVE~Destiny~" makes me a little teary-eyed every once in a while. But with her latest songs, it's as if she's gone for the happier, lighter music. Maybe that kind of music sells more and so that's what she writes. But as a songwriter myself, I used to envy the wonderful minor tones she would use -- the kind that gave you goosebumps and kind of made you feel like you had heartburn.

I still really enjoy listening to those songs, and I do like her newer music -- don't get me wrong -- but I just think that for a singer that's been around for almost seven years (more if you count her very first hip hop album and single) would spend her remaining time in the limelight with a finale that no one would forget. After all, it's been quite a while, she's released so many albums and singles, and I don't doubt that her ten minutes of fame are starting to run short. I really wish that she could stick around forever, but that's the way it is in the entertainment world. I think she'll probably release another album, maybe two (original albums, not remixes) and then another new pop star will take the throne.

I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

That's what makes me depressed. Somewhat. She's been around for quite a while, she may stick around, but people may start hating her.

I'm thinking of Britney.

I don't hate her, Aki, or else why would I have made this entire forum? biggrin.gif I still really like her. I'm sad that she'll indefinitely fade from view. But that's what happens. sleep.gif

I never said that. I meant, in the (near) future, if she stays around for too long, people may start to hate her. I don't hate her, I know you don't hate her.

You know what? I'm just blabbing. Ignore me.

I like her new style better than the older one, in some ways, it gives me a feeling she's become stronger, and that being so weak isn't like her anymore,... though this is just my point of view...

That's true. I never really thought of it that way.

I remember how a lot of her songs seemed to convey some form of her being unsure... A Song for XX is no exception. Why, why, why? She always seemed confused as to where to draw the line between childhood and adulthood. We all are, I guess.

I remember -- and how true this is, I'm not sure, because someone else probably came up with the idea -- that in the A BALLADS album, on the cover, the way she was holding herself (it's hard to explain if you haven't seen the cover ^^') was supposed to show the way she needed to console herself when she was distressed.

Perhaps you are very right in your POV. It's nice to have some other thoughts.

I guess I understand what you mena , but please DO NOT compare her to the stinky Britney Spears. I mean she was a slutty poser, who couldn't ever sing from the begining! XD I LOVE Ayumi though. I really enjoy her latest songs. Some of them are quite meaningful like INSPIRE, and my names WOMAN, and I love all her songs on both albums ^.^She's just happy right now. I mean I heard a rumour that she was going to get married sad.gif

Please don't mistake that I think of her as Britney Spears. I don't. Even if she was Britney's Japanese incarnation, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to think of her that way.

I remember someone telling me that she is Britney Spears in Japan, but I don't think they knew what they were talking about and anyways, even if she is, so what? I love her anyways.

Ugh. Britney Spears doesn't even write most of her own lyrics, let alone the music for her songs! laugh.gif

And who was Ayu going to marry?

Oh, and welcome to the forums. happy.gif

EDIT: It's not that I don't like her newer stuff, I do. Walking proud is one of my favorite songs of hers. But I just prefer her older stuff, I guess... ><;

Ah! I too have heard that she is getting married. I'm pretty sure it is to another vocal artist. Or so me thinks ^.^' I can always look it up.

And firstly, I'd like to say on the topic of Britney...

She's a *blippin' bleeping* hobag ^______^ I'm glad I got that off my chest.
Britney supposedly could sing, until she turned into what midemixi had previously stated her as *sleezebag*

I've never heard words more truer than that.*sniffle* It's so beautiful had you simply composed what she's made of, all in on word. biggrin.gif You rock mide.

Now her voice is mostly edited, which is sooooo.... poser-ish. And ever since she married that lecher dude Kevin, she turned herself back into trailer trash *nod nod*

O.o

'Scuse me before I go on any further ranting smile.gif

Ayu is getting older and that's a part of life I love her music reguardless, And losing her girt? Ayu's true talent to me writing lyrics and she's doing fine to me I got worried for a while when she released "My Story" but she came back and redeemed her self with "Is This Love". Best advice is that me have to wait and see.

Ayu's not losing her voice... I think it's just changed and evolved. She has a VERY distinct voice and it sets her apart from her labelmates (Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, hitomi). Her style of music also sets herself apart from the rest.
