|I don't think there were any highs for me. It was just a bad year and I hope that this year will be completely different. |
4CC = 3rd place
TEB = 4th place
The girl is too hard on herself, she needs to learn how to take pride in what she did accomplish, and it was no small accomplishment. Either she is fixated on only the negative, or has unrealistic expectations... either way that doesn't seem like a good sign.
I think that when she's thinking HIGHS, she's thinking skates that were like... completely clean, for her. She's a perfectionist, I think that's pretty obvious. I don't know how else to explain it... I understand what she's saying completely, because if I mess one little thing up in dance or gymnastics, I say that I sucked. And if I were to have only gotten 3rd and 4th as my highest placements throughout the season, I probably would say that my season was awful. It's the perfectionist side of her showing... I think it's good that she realizes none of her skates last year were amazing and she's been trying to fix everything. She sounds hopeful that this year will be much better, so that's definitely a positive! She has high expectations for herself, but it's not unrealistic for her to want to have a great skate and make improvements this season. I'm assuming a clean, passionate skate would be considered a "high" for her, and I think that's a pretty realistic possibility for her this season.
"To practice means to perform, in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired."
