House Shows....Let’s try this out!

As some of you may remember, prior to Rise to Greatness I came up with a convoluted idea to have house shows to increase realism. Federations have house shows in real-life. Well, damn it, SCW should do it too. Now, some people had concerns and many of them valid. I however received quite a bit of encouragement to try it out and see what happens. That’s what I’m going to do.

So this is how it’s going to work. I’m going to release a “house show schedule” at some point. Basically, it will give you an idea of where SCW tours and I encourage you to include the different locales in your roleplays. Who knows? Maybe the fact that you have some tangible towards your character’s life as a wrestler to use. Obviously, wrestlers aren’t at home every week. They do some touring. Maybe this can open up new ideas.

I will give a card for each show. No one will ever directly roleplay for it. There are no specific boards for it. And there will be no written out show (However, note, I may do the odd storyline happening on the house show to forward something, particularly if I want a major event to happen and not wait two weeks to do it. This rarely will see a huge upset or anything like that. Mainly segments.

Winners will be completely determined by your latest roleplay. I’m intending this for three reasons. One, it keeps it fair. If someone has a rough month in terms of things in real life, it allows them to be involved without having to necessarily worry about roleplaying each week. Two, should you be doing poorly on house shows (racking up losses), you may have an idea that you’re not doing so hot and may be motivated to roleplay earlier and more often. Three, I’ll actually keep up with roleplaying throughout the weeks instead of just waiting until the end of the roleplaying period.

However a few ground rules before I continue:

- These matches are not going to be officially recognized (for the most part) on shows. House show results will rarely be mentioned. I don’t want people to start pissing contests bringing up their awesome house show record. This is more a project to add realism and increase options.

- There may be the odd title match. Rarely will I have a clean victory. I’m doing this mainly to avoid title changes happening every few house shows. I’m also announcing this so people don’t get pissy if they see they’re facing the Champion for the title and clearly have an awesome roleplay (in their opinion) that destroys whatever the Champion has recently put up and throwing a hissy fit.

- With that said, title changes MAY occur. This happens for two reasons.

1) I don’t think the Champion is carrying his weight. If you’re a champion, sorry, I feel that you should be a role model to some extent. Rarely should you no-show (granted, things come up. Let us know) and you should be looking to procure competition, not stifle it. Being a champion, even though this is a game, should be a source of pride. Show that you’re proud to be a champion and do your part to show that SCW has a culture of strong champions (something I think is very realistic to cultivate, especially since there are a lot of strong roleplayers in SCW)

2) Should a champion leave or be unavailable for an extended period of time, I may choose to have a house show title change. It gives me another option. This however will generally happen if I feel that challenger has deserved this.

- I will never book you in your Breakdown opponent or PPV opponent in house shows directly before it. I don’t want to in any way give an idea of how you’re doing in matches that do matter.

Basically, this is the intended plan. To keep it fair, I am going to start it after the first Breakdown AFTER Under Attack. I intend to have every person booked by then. We will then try and it out and see what happens. Use this as an opportunity to have more options for roleplays, but also, at the most, it’s to add realism, but also give you an opportunity to find out where you stack up. Sometimes, and I know this, you just need some motivation to know you are doing something right. I’ve seen some roleplayers be on a losing streak and their work is quite strong. The problem is that they tend to either bring out the best in their opponents, or their opponents are riding hot creative streaks. Hopefully this will help people out and will be a fun thing that helps make SCW unique. Feel free to ask any questions on the OOC board. There’s plenty of time before I start this and I want to ensure people are clear on what will be attempted.

By the way, I just realize this would help:

I'm going to start by posting House show results at the end of each "week". After I get a routine down, I'll start doing them before I go to bed.
