The bright blue sky was not cheerful today. Thick storm clouds choked the heavens, but it was still humid. Off and on it rained. It was really driving the lone tom patroling his territory batty. Once again the rain started, and the silver cat's nose wrinkled in distaste. Water really did irk Lunarshade, that stuff was for fish and drinking only. The ThunderClaner padded through the woods, leaving scent mark everyonce and a while. His paws left marks in the mud and muck, only to be washed away by the heavy rain.

How bothersome! This patrol he'd given himself was bothering him, he should have tried hunting instead. Finally, sick of the rain, he sought out a decent tree root. It was tall enough to be out of the mud, and dry. The Mau climbed upon it, sitting down to wash.

Steelex was muttering curses. "Damn rain, at least there's solid shelter in the city, them good for nothing trees..." He trudged through the drizzling rain, his fur, after he had tried so hard to free it of dirt and debris, was now soaked and hung of his thing frame like black rags. Water was, he supposed, better than Shadowclan bog glump, but he really hated it either way. Seeing a large pine tree, larger than then the rest, he rushed under it's canopy and shook his pelt. The movement really didn't help much, he was still as wet as a mop.

Glancing around, he wondered if Pero was coming, but his main concern was for the weather. He continued to mutter curses to the sky for it's endless leaking. As he raised a paw to swipe over his triangular ears, his nosed twitched with a strange scent. A Thunderclan cat? he thought, but then decided it must have been the rain that had mucked up his senses. He rubbed his paw over his face a few times, pissed off at the numerous drops of water that splattered onto him from the green canopy above, but immeadiately paused. His muzzle twitched, sprinkled with clear dew that dripped off the tips of his whiskers.

Momentarily distracted, he slipped into a smooth crouch and crept around the tree, his pelt brushing against the damp, mossy bark of it's trunk. Peeking his dark head around the corner, his jungle green eyes caught a young tom grooming himself. It really was a Thunderclan cat! His focus darting upwards, he scaled the tree, the only sound was the momentary clicking of his claws against the bark. Sneaking upon a branch (while dodging the prickly pines) that hung above the root of the tree on which the other cat sat, he shook his pelt again, spraying raindrops like a waterfall below him, and onto warrior.

"Woops, sorry 'bout that, tom," he drawled and stretched lazily, tom being what twolegged males might call each other, such as man, or in Australia and Britain, mate.

Steelex perhaps underestimated Peropero's knowledge of ways to cause mischief. Indeed when it came to the general annoyance of others the little she-cat was a genius. Of course this could not be said for other qualities one would consider important, such as tact, company manners, or thoughtfulness for others comfort. When it came to those Pero was completely useless.

After the angry RiverClan cats escorted the pair off of their territory, Peropero quietly slithered out of sight and into the ThunderClan woods. She kept up with Steelex, hiding her sleek ginger coat within the mottled leaves that littered the forest floor. Once he paused she followed his eyes and realized what the target was. Cackling quietly to herself she slipped behind the tree he intended to climb and lithely sprang up its vertical surface. The tiny creature hardly made a sound as she proceeded up the branches before stopping to watch high above the ground. She remained there, still, as Steelex himself climbed the tree.

As Steelex meowed his apologies to the ThunderClan cat, Peropero stiffened her muscles and crouched low to her branch. She was fully intending to give the tree branch a good shake, effectively drenching the dark-furred rogue with perhaps three times the amount of water he had just rained upon the cat on the ground. She was quite certain it would cause him to get fired up all over again, which she found ridiculously amusing.

Well, that was the plan anyway. For as she readied herself to execute her silly little act of mischief her paws slipped on the thin, wet branch and she soon found herself plummeting through the air. She thrashed wildly about in the air, turning her body over so she could land on her feet. She was to slow, however, and the result was her landing on the ground on her side. The soft thump sound the came with the impact was accompanied with a small, sickening crack and a yowl of pain issuing from Pero's maw.

Steele's easy grin slipped from his face as he stared in disbelief. One moment, Pero was jumping on a branch, the second, she had fallen with a solid, ear chilling thunk. The slate grey tom froze, then a heartbeat later, he leaped smoothly off the branch, skidding in the soft soil as he rushed to Pero's side. He knew that shecat was still alive, thank god, but he felt strange anyways, almost....scared for her well-being. Steele grimaced at himself, but now was not the time to ponder about how the little loner had grown on him. His tail, the scar at it's tip invisble through his wet darkened fur, floated waiflike in the rainy air. Leaning down, he nudged her shoulder, careful not to touch her side and cause anymore pain.

Shooting a sharp glance at Lunarshade, daring him to try anything even though he knew the other cat wouldn't probably, he cursed at Pero, herself, the Thudnerlcan warrior, everything, mentally. What the hell was she thinking, pouncing on that branch as if she weighed less then a robin, and blast that stupid rain for making her slip, and screw me for trying anything in the first place, she was probably watching me, and damn that tom. If he wasn't here, none of this would've happened! His anger faded to the backdrop of his mind as he told himself not to be a fool. It was an accident, and she was going to be okay. The drop wasn't that far, from the branch to the ground...

He didn't even know her name...

"Are you...are you okay?" He lay absolutely still, his head craned forward, ears pricked, as he waited for a response. His breath stilled in his chest and the rain continued to fall around them, as if tears from the heaven. Drops of wetness, not caught by the pine tree's thick canopy, sluiced from his soaked coat.

Back in the city, he wouldn't have spared a glance if a cat had fallen off a twelve story skyscraper. But there was no comparison between the scarred, cruel city cats and Pero. She was eccentric, insane, different, and so very small...

Out of the rain at last, coat free of muck, he couldn't have felt much better. When the rain cleared up, he would finish marking this stretch of territory. Then he might go hunt. Yes, that was what he'd do. For now, a rest was in order. The silver cat, though his wet fur made him seem more grey, stretched before curling up in a tight ball. He closed his eyes, and to all the world would seem asleep. But he wasn't.

Lunarshade almost thought he would fall asleep. He almost did and would have if not for a sudden splattering of water onto his spotted coat. A lazy voice droned at him, as he leapt up with a silent curse. His dark eyes looked up, locking onto the the loner. "What in StarClan's name are you doing here?"

The Egyptian Mau jumped up, climbing the tree with easy, watching the other cat with distaste. "Though Stripestar might have let other cats run rampent on her land, Jackalstar wouldn't. Neither will I."

The tom had almost reached Steele when a small flash of orange flew past him. A small kitten fell to the ground, quickly followed by the loner jumping after her. Lunarshade may have hated intruders, but he wasn't heartless. Not to mention one law of the warrior code.

No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if that kit is from a different Clan.

True, this cat might not be ranked as a kit anymore if she had been a clan cat. But he was still bound to help her. The ThunderClan cat bounded back into the mud, following the gray tom to the small figure in the mud. He lay down next to the orange cat, green eyes examining the fallen loner. "I'm not a medicine cat, but my guess would be she has broken something." The thud as she hit the ground was still ringing sickeningly in his ears.

"Ow OW!" The loner yowled as Steele nudged her. She attempted to raise her head to give him an angry glare, but pain lanced up her side at the motion and she decided to stay still. "Don't do that idiot, you made it worse! Oh, ow!" Pero's ginger tail lashed around slightly as she spoke, even in her condition she was still ever-wanting to be in motion. While she didn't look injured at first glance, a more examining eye would see her quivering with pain that ran along her side.

Steele's concern was soon stripped away by Pero's yowling protest. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry." he grumbled, backing away. He bit back curses. Geez, couldn't a tom be concerned? However, he heeded Lunarshade's words. Pero might have broken something...they had to get a pro in to help her.

"Look, clan cat. You need to get your, uh," What had he called it again? "medicine cat. Right now." Though Steele had no idea what a medicine cat was exactly, he knew that it had obviously something to do with healing. He didn't know of any feline that could cure broken bones, especially a rib or a hip, but these clan cats kept on surprising him. Feeling responsible somehow, but not wanting to cause any more pain to the little loner, he meowed, "Actually, just point the way. I'll be quick. I'll find this medicine cat myself."

Besides, Steelex reasoned, if he did stay by Pero's side, he'd probably just annoy her. He chuckled grimly. Now, didn't that sound ironic.

Poor kid, he thought. His eyes trailed along the small figure, as he lay there. The rain was stilling but it still fell. Was the sky itself stopping to watch the fate of this one cat? As Lunarshade's mind tumbled with thoughts, he realized he was being spoken to. His eyes narrowed, disliking the fact that he was being ordered around. The Mau snorted disdainfully, standing up.

"My sister, Howlsong, is guarding the camp She'll rip you in half on sight." he stated this matter-of-fact, cooly, as if commenting on the weather. "Regardless, ThunderClan won't have any cat waltzing into our camp. We are not the safe have on the side of the road, providing our precious resources for any loner or rogue to cross our path!" The tom's voice was harsh, filled with distrust. "Furthermore, why would I direct you to our camp, a secret location? You could easily tell any rogue band with a grudge. Nevertheless, I will go fetch the healer."

With that, the ThunderClan warrior turned about padding off. He was louder than usual as he headed the opposite direction of camp. Then, going silent, he made a false roundabout path, to confuse the others from where the camp was at. That could have easily been a ploy for rouges to get their way to camp. Now to find Sirenwhisper and Sorrowsong.

.x.---.x.

The silver tom was back, to him it felt like he had been gone an age. His paws and pelt were flecked with mud. A quiet tom stood beside him, another warrior. Sorrowsong watched the loners, suspscion in his eyes.

"This is the cat I told you about Sirenwhisper," he meowed to the Medicine Cat he had summoned. "Can you treat her here?"

[[A bit of a powerplay saying Siren is already here. Sorry. Post when ya can, Rain.]]

The look on Peropero's face fortold all, even before she opened her mouth. The look of disdain and dislike that planted itself in her eyes at the sight of the ThunderClanners was very obvious. The skin around her maw was even drawn back slightly, as though she was ready to hiss if they came any closer. "Clan cats!" The little loner spat. "I don't need nasty, greedy clan cats to help me! If that's all that can lend a hand I'm fine!"

After this angry speech the ginger she-cat attempted to stand up, but this merely resulted in another painful yowl slipping through her teeth. Looking disgruntled, Pero stayed laying down, but her tail was fluffled out and lashing angrily around.

Steelex disliked the arrival of the clan cats just as immensely as Pero, but there was nothing he could do. Of course, he could just slip away into the trees... But no. He couldn't, or rather shouldn't leave Pero to Thunderclan's mercy. Sure, they claimed they wanted to help, but what earthly cat could heal broken bones, if indeed the shecat had broken something? His mood glooming into dark storm clouds, he began having unkind thoughts towards Pero and her reckless actions, and towards Lunarshade. The tom thought he knew eveything, like he was in charge of everyone or something.

The ex-city cat stepped up to the clan cats and meowed to Lunarshade, "Just get this over with, fast." He smiled grimly, "And not only because I don't like you clan cats, but because she is in no mood to appreciate your aid." Skeptical that they could even do something, Steelex set his shoulders and hardened his face, looking like a block of hard -not to mention stubborn- stone.

The tart medicine cat took in Lunarshade with guarded green eyes and she fought back a sigh. The tom was so arrogant. He thought he knew everything--which, of course, he didn't. That's why she was around. Flicking her tail at the Mau, she let her eyes swivel to the small injured cat and a faint smile graced her lips.

"And I don't need to be looking after noisy, obnoxious, rude kittens when I can be training my apprentice," she retorted back sternly--although not without some hint of amusement.

Originally, Gloomypaw had intended to go hunting. He was light of paw and fairly swift, so why not try and hunt for the Clan a little? It wouldn’t be so bad—he’d leave those noisy cats in the Medicine Cats’ den; they wouldn’t need him just yet, anyway. He had assured they were asleep before he had left anyhow. He was feeling just a bit lonely since Sirenwhisper had left and that was partially the reason why he had decided to step out and ‘get some air’, as they say.

Gloomypaw made a beeline towards Tallpines, weaving through the trees like a black shadow, his mismatched eyes flicking back and forth sharply. They sought any prey, but suddenly he paused and his ears pricked up as he caught a voice that was familiar to him. ‘Sirenwhisper!’ he thought happily, his tail beginning to swish back and forth behind him, whiskers curling up with happiness. She didn’t sound too pleased, but at least she was nearby. Perhaps she needed help?

Bounding out of the trees, the small black tom paused as he saw the other cats and looked suddenly uncomfortable. The small she-cat looked as if she was in pain, and Gloomypaw edged carefully over to Sirenwhisper, his mentor. “Can I help at all?” he questioned tentatively, his voice soft, looking at her with his mismatched brown-and-green eyes.
