Military Ranks:
Ghosts-Ghosts are tortured spirits who writhe in the agony of undeath. Unable to realize that are no longer alive, they roam the trackless wastes between the other world and the physical world, seeking release from their eternal suffering. Though they are not necessarily evil, they often hunger for physical contact, often causing great harm to any living beings they touch.
Zombie-Zombies are nothing more than animated corpses. Zombies are often brought to horrifying unlife to serve as frontline troops for the undead armies. Zombies are often plague carriers, infested with all manner of parasitic creatures. Their bodies are in a suspended state of decay, their flesh perpetually sloughing away or peeling aside to reveal bone and desiccated organs. Of all the undead, zombies are one of the more horrific varieties, for their lack of free will is all the more apparent in their pitiable state of their bodies. Even more horrible is the fact that not all zombies lose their memories and personalities — a few zombies retain their memories, trapped within a decaying corpse compelled to serve their former enemies. Every so often, a zombie retains its intellect or develops a form of sentience over long years. No one has been able to create this circumstance intentionally, nor does anyone understand why or how it happens
Skeleton-Skeletons are mindless undead created through necromancy. Most skeletons are raised from battlefields and thus are often seen still clothed in rotting garments and rusting armor. Some skeletons still fight with the weapons they died clutching. Others, specifically created only by the most advanced necromancers, are able to cast magical spells. Whatever they attack with, skeletons are basically mindless automatons who are either directly controlled, or made to follow a specific order from their creator. If sufficiently damaged, the magic holding their bones together will dissipate, and they will crumple lifelessly to the ground.
Ghoul-Ghouls are the main forces of the undead plague. They are vicious creatures, retaining little of their humanity. The plague has torn away most of their memories, leaving only hunger and basic survival instincts in their place. Ghouls are feral and animalistic and are often considered to be the lowest form of undead. While generally humanoid in appearance, a ghoul is easy to recognize on the battlefield by its pallor, hunched-over posture, and feral face. Even those who were close to the individual in life have difficulty recognizing their loved one; the transformation removes most vestiges of humanity as well as identifying features of voice and body structure. Ghouls of the Scourge are strong fighters, but they are not particularly tough. Their ability to regenerate, coupled with cannibalizing the dead, makes them far tougher opponents than they may seem. Because of their limited intelligence, their greatest tactical insight is to hit something until it’s dead.
Abominations-Leaders of the undead plague. Abominations are undead, ogre-like creatures, mounds of corpses cobbled together. The stomach-churning reek is choking, and a green-brown haze surrounds them. Their guts spill from a jagged gap in their stomach, and flies buzz about it, feasting. Three disproportionate, arm-like limbs emerge from their bloated body, two bearing bloody cleavers, and the other a thick chain with a hook on the end. Their tongues are thick and round and dangle from between crooked, yellow teeth.
Mage Ranks:
Heretic-Heretics are wretched priests who were once counted as the most devout amongst the clergy of Windspire. But, after years of constant war and suffering, they have lost their sense of the light magic. Now, they exist only to spread their frustration and negativity to their fellow men and women
Wraith-Wraiths retain their individuality and intelligence. Wraiths are angry and violent spirits, long for a return to mortal life and vent their jealous rage on living creatures. While possessed by a constant, desperate fury, wraiths nonetheless possess the intellect and self-control to deal rationally, if grudgingly, with mortal beings on occasion.
Necromancer-Necromancers are spellcasters whose magics manipulate the power of death. In calling upon this power, necromancers risk being consumed by it. Necromancers twist arcane magic to manipulate the power of death. Commanding the undead, generally in the service of the Scourge, they gradually take on the characteristics of the dead — hollow eyes, shambling gaits, pallid and sunken skin, foul odors and so forth.
Revenant- Revenants appear as undead elemental creatures with the ability to cast elemental magics according to their type. Although appearing undead, Revenants have no affiliation with the plague as they have some sort of innate immunity to Kryptikk's psychic control over undead. They remain neutral in the conflict between the Elves, Coalitions, Deimos. They look similar to floating suits of armor, bound by elemental energy, according to their elemental type. They also wield large maces and carry giant shields.
Lich-Liches are among the most powerful spellcasters and allies of the undead plague, serving their master with evil intent and great power. Often, they command armies as generals, surrogates for the Kryptikk himself. They are deeply entwined with the cold power of the grave. As a rule, these creatures are power-hungry, devious, and vicious. They utilize their great intellect and dark powers not only to serve the Kryptikk, but also to defeat each other in subtle political machinations, gaining strength and renown from each opponent's death. A lich resembles a skeleton with a chill blue glow emanating from within its bones. Liches often dress in flowing robes. These creatures are fond of pageantry and deception; they will often dress in the robes of a king or priest and expect their followers to call them by powerful-sounding names. Sometimes, they claim extraordinary powers granted directly from Kryptikk himself, acting as though Kryptikk were a god and they were his chosen priests or prophets. Instead of walking on the ground as mortals do, liches float above it on frosty mist. A lich floats from 6 -12 inches above the ground. Liches cannot trigger pressure plates or similar traps, nor do they leave footprints. Most difficult terrain does not inhibit liches, and they can cross calm water and other liquids with this ability. This movement is otherwise similar to normal movement, so liches can still fall down pits, for instance.
