As if Kyailani hadn't had enough sex to spice up her life, she was about to have yet another one of her bonded's decide it was high time to get in the sky. Or in this case, the water. Thank Faranth she only had two creatures sharing her mind. Any more and she'd surely go crazy.

But in reality, Kya had plenty of warning before the young riverlizard took to her Swim. The pinkish-colored gold had been showing signs of prodiness and was generally in bad moods for the last week. She had grown significantly since hatching, but she was still slender and long, less muscular and sensual. Her six wings had grown in proportion to her, though even Kya knew her lizard would never sustain true flight. Glides maybe, but not flight. Those wings were more like paddles for the water, and Faranth did the lizard love the water. She'd spent more and more time in it as she grew, practicing maneuvers Kya had no idea when she'd use. Well, it looked like she had her answer.

Kris was glowing.

The riverlizard skulked through Kya's weyr, seemingly oblivious to her condition. But both other females noticed. Kya just thanked Faranth that the lizard's bond wasn't nearly as strong as Ziarreth's. She'd hopefully be able to ignore the Swim entirely and get this strap mended before wing drills later that afternoon. Ziarreth snorted at Kris as the lizard walked passed, hissing and being generally annoyed at something.

Kya....Kris is starting to get annoying.... the blood dragon growled, huffing Kris in another direction when the lizard walked in front of Ziarreth's nose for the hundredth time. The gold chittered angrily but kept on walking, right toward Kya, and began tearing at a piece of scrap leather with her teeth, eyes whirling red.

"She's about to Swim, cut her some slack."

You didn't cut me slack when I Rose, the dragon retorted, rolling on her side and finding a more comfortable position.

"You're harder to ignore than she is."

Point taken.

It was about that time in the conversation that Kris finally figured out what she needed. She didn't need a chew toy or food. She needed to swim fast and long and deep. She wanted...something, she wasn't sure what. It was such a strange sensation but it felt so good... She should go outside and explore it more, maybe get someone to join her in it. Who wouldn't want to feel like this? So with a chirp and a trill, the riverlizard darted through the weyr and glided down to the Bowl before making a b-line for the lake. She needed to swim, after all. What better place than the lake?

As she went, she trilled and chirped, trying to gain as much attention as she could. Look! Wasn't she beautiful? Didn't everyone want to come swim with her? They should, because it was going to be ever so fun! The gold hurried along her journey, pausing at times to call and check for anyone joining her fun. Oh they should be here already! They were going to miss out and she would leave them behind! But she didn't want to swim alone. That was no fun! So she waited on the shore, hind feet in the water and tail swishing over the surface. It was going to be so much fun going for a swim! Others should join her!

There was one big downside to being bonded to a wherhandler. Inevitably, during the day when all normal people were out doing stuff, he was in his bed, with the door closed. Usually this didn't matter, as Rolio was above mingling with common folk. There were always children that would track him down and try to pet him, and then he'd get in trouble for reminding them of their place. This seemed most unfair, so rather than deal with them he usually rested in his room. But when there really was something worth seeing, there was that stupid door. How unfortunate that his room wasn't actually made for him. Stupid humans not knowing how to build to accommodate riverlizards.

Benetriusk woke to the sound of the pale waterlizard scrabbling and squalling at the door, her eyes blinking wide as she stared at him, still a bit muddled from sleep. Benesk shifted uncomfortably, sensing that the little black wher he was curled around was moving. Finally he blinked his eyes open and looked around with trepidation, trying to find what was wrong. Benetriusk chirped questioningly at her friend, sending him an image of the riverlizard being angry. Benesk blinked and looked toward the noisome creature. Yellow and orange blinked in his eyes, but he stood up and went to the door, pulling it open so the little pest could slither through and scuttle down the hall toward the bowl. Benetriusk tilted her head at him as he walked back and settled back into his place next to her. //Rolio want female lizard. Rolio always want female lizard,// he explained with some disgruntlement, settling himself back down to sleep. Benetriusk blinked again and looked after the agitated pearl, but eventually she put her head back down and went back to sleep.

But there would be no sleep for Rolio! Not until he had conquered this task! The muscular pearl waddled as fast as his little legs could take him after the rose-colored queen, squalling at anything that got too close and baring his fangs. He was the greatest male riverlizard in the Weyr! Part ways before him, foolish mortals! He had to go defend his crown! He powered after the maiden gold, his body undulating and his thick wings half-raised down his back, nothing but determination in his gaze, each glimmer of rosy yellow giving power to his lithe little body.

Finally he came to the edge of the lake to find her waiting there for him. He stopped at the edge of the beach, spreading his wings and rearing back to his hind legs so that she could admire him. Most impressively he bugled into the air, the sound loud and deep for a riverlizard, but not much compared even to his pet's baby wher. Not that you should tell him that, for he was entirely convinced of his own awesomeness. And if Kris was at all intelligent she would easily see it as well. Falling back to his feet he stalked off around the gold, his head raised proudly as he prepared for the race. As if there was any question that he would win.
