Gold Queens
Gender : Female (100%)
Basic Information : Largest and highest ranked of the whers, Golds hold the same place in wher society as they do in dragon's, as Queens with the ability to demand obedience from any other rank, even lesser golds. They tend to be a bit more masculine looking, but also somehow less deformed than the other ranks, their skin slightly smoother, their wings perhaps a bit bigger, and while certainly not draconic, they simply appear a little bit better put together. Colors range from deep burnished gold to a very light white gold and everything in between, though most Lyris golds tend to be darker, while Hold whers tend to be lighter in coloring.
Personality : A bit more feral and dangerous than even the larger golden dragons, Golds are a handful for even adult and trained wher handlers. They are the most intelligent of the whers and most tend to have a rebellious streak, though close bonds often have evidence of an extreme protectiveness, to the point where a Gold would willingly die for their handler. Golds are least likely to allow multiple Impressions, especially as a hatchling, and tend to kill any other whers their handlers try to bond with.
Maturity : 2 turns
Clutch Size : 8-12 eggs

Bronze
Gender : Male (100%)
Basic Information : Highest ranked male of all the whers, Bronzes are typically massive creatures, almost grotesquely so, and tend to be or simply look disproportionate, more so than many other ranks. Instead of being graceful, or simply muscular, many consider them bulky or blocky, though this lends itself well to pulling siege weapons or carrying multiple riders if needed. Their colors run from a deep near-black bronze, like oxidized metal, up to a lighter and far more silvery bronze. The rarest shade of wher hide is a golden-bronze, and a golden-shaded bronze is prized above many others of his same rank, as they tend to be slightly more intelligent and larger than most.
Personality : Bronzes, more than any other rank, are arrogant and bestial, smart yet violent males who seem to enjoy the fighting so often pressed upon them. Their size and strength means that even the calmest and gentlest of these males often get their way, and since they can only be controlled by a Queen or a strong handler, most are somewhat feared. Though second best compared to Gold's in sheer fighting ability, they are often proud of their standing and hold ranks in the fighting ranks similar to those of their dragon kin, leaders rather than followers. Most disputes in a battalion's ranks are from bronzes battling for power.
Maturity : 1 turn

Moonstone (Rainbow)
Gender : Female (100%)
Basic Information : Largest of the whers to come from the mutated clutches, Moonstones are undisputedly females, slender and slinky, with graceful curves. Their size is more due to their length than their height, for they are actually as short as a Jet, but longer than even a gold, and their ability to clutch a larger number of eggs lends more to their rank. They are perhaps the most stunningly beautiful of the whers, with a creamy white or silver base hide overlaid with shimmering rainbow tones, barely visible in some lights but glittering with color in others. The older a Rainbow Moonstone gets, the more her colors stand out along her hide.
Personality : While not nearly as aggressive as Queens, Moonstones are not exactly gentle and soft like their hides might suggest... They are, instead, cunning, the sneak-thieves of wher kind, temptresses who ensnare their handlers as well as any males and lesser females they can get around. These females tend to believe that, even if they are lesser queens they should be obeyed and followed and loved just as much as any gold, and while they appear to get along with just about any other rank, even masking their feelings of golds, its often just to cover up their plotting and schemes.
Maturity : 2 turns
Clutch Size : 5-8 eggs

Brown
Gender : Male (100%)
Basic Information : Far less bulky than even their dragon counterparts, much less their bronze brothers, Browns tend to have an almost feminine grace to their forms, though they are still large enough to carry more than a single rider, usually a Healer, and deal quite a bit of damage on the battlefield. Oddly enough this rank has a much larger size range than the others, and they can grow as large as a bronze or as small as a larger blue. They are usually well formed, but with gnarled skin and a tendancy towards overlarge and heavy heads or short tails, though have a resistance, seemingly, to most of the mutations that would leave them negatively affected, which serves them well... Of all the 'lower' ranks, they tend to be the most popular, probably for their steadfast personalities as well as their generally smaller size.
Personality : Browns are far more calm than their larger bronze brothers, to the point of being called placid for the most part, though they can, as any wher, be fierce in defense of their handler, or when the bloodrage is upon them in battle. They are the least likely to go wild as a hatchling, as well as the most likely to allow secondary bonds as they age, as long as their handler explains it well to them. Naturally empathic, Browns are often partnered with Healers as well, for they are able to help calm down even Queens, much less the lower ranks of whers.
Maturity : 1 turn

Jet
Gender : Male and Female (50%::50%%)
Basic Information : Like the stone that bears their name, this rank's coloring is most often a pure black, though they can be lighter in shade, a more smokey gray rather than true jet, but these tend to be rarer in number, occasionally with markings in gold, silver, or gray. In size they fall neatly into the spot between browns and blues along with the Sunstone rank, though between the two Jets are actually lighter in weight... Their bodies are incredibly draconic, thin and elegant, though unfortunatly they are more susceptible to the physical mutations that negatively affect their movements or appearances than any ranks, and all females are naturally infertile.
Personality : Like their higher ranked mutation sisters, Jets aren't anything like what their appearances might cause others to think... In fact, these dark, ominous colored whers are actually far more gentle than they might seem, and even have the added bonus of being empathic, even more so than browns... Unfortunatly, they can also be a little cowardly, and have little to no aptitude for battle unless fiercely driven into it by their handler being in danger.
Maturity : 1 turn

Sunstone
Gender : Male (100%)
Basic Information : Sunstones are an odd rank, more so due to their coloring than anything else... Seemingly a blend of Gold and Brown with a bit of crimson red thrown in, they have two layers of hide. The upper layer is gnarled and typically one color, generally a golden brown, though pure gold, pure brown, or pure red can occur as well, while the under hide has golden flecks of metallic color and a deep red base, and shines through the thinner uper hide, creating a shimmering, almost oily appearance. They are thick creatures, though short in length and height as compared to other ranks, built more like a tree trunk than anything else. Sunstones all have strengthened neck muscles and thickened skull, and can use their heads as battering rams with little to no consequence.
Personality : Playful and mischievous, Sunstones seem as if they would not make good fighters for they are far too interested in goofing around rather than, but if their handler can actually focus their attention long enough to focus on a target, they can pretty much just run and tackle anything with their overly thick heads, causing massive damage to anything in their way. Like overgrown kittens they are, for the most part, but even kittens have claws.
Maturity : 1 turn

Blue
Gender : Male (100%)
Basic Information : There is an incredibly array of both colors, markings, and size types for these males, far more than any other rank above them, though greens have almost the same range... From baby sky blues to the deepest of indigos, nearly even black, Blues can also have just about any type of markings and more of the most extraordinary looking whers are of this rank. Their size and body types also show a wide variety, anywhere from being beefy and burly, far more like an upper ranked wher, to thin and almost... feminine, perhaps even frail, while yet others are a mix of the two... Extremely tall but bone thin, or shortest of the bunch with thick, rippling muscles... No two blues look alike in any way, shape or form and that is probably the most interesting thing about them.
Personality : Blues tend to be rather simple fellows, though with a wide diversity of personalities... Not usually as cheerful as their larger dragon companions, these whers actually fall more on the darker side of things rather than not, though there is quite a wide range from bright, bubbly, and completely clueless to sadistic, cruel, and snide. Overall, though, most tend to have a slightly mischievous side as well as a true caring for their bonded, and it is quite easy to get a Blue to settle into a multiple bond, which has made their numbers rise in recent turns.
Maturity : 7 months

Green
Gender : Female (100%)
Basic Information :
Personality :
Maturity :
Clutch Size : 0-4 eggs

Ghost
Gender : Male and Female (50%::50%)
Basic Information : silver-white with smokey grey extremities and markings, Ghosts are stunningly beautiful in their simplicity. Their hides have the strangest almost reflective quality to it that allows them to, well, quite frankly 'ghost' from place to place, especially shadows, in a manner that can be rather unsettling. They are the favored bondeds for assassins due to this strange ability, even if its no more than a trick of the eye due to their hides. Their body types are rather slender, even more so than normal for their low rank, and they are clearly not built for a full on frontal assault against any sort of enemies, tending to instead work behind the scenes or even in pre and post battle sabotage... Not to say they can't do damage, because their whippy bodies are just as able to deal out wounds as any other rank, they just go more for speed rather than strength.
Personality : Calm and cunning are the hallmark attributes of a Ghost wher, and this rank tends to rely more on their bond and bondmates than most other ranks, and tend to have some of the tighter bonds even from the get go. While not typically smart, at least not in the way humans might think of as smart, they are instinctual creatures with the ability to blend into nearly any circumstance with a chameleon like quality, scout terrain and enemy combatants with little help or direction for their bondmates, and survive on their own for days or weeks at a time without any previous training, and not only survive, but keep themselves as well as their bondeds thriving.
Maturity : 1 1/2 turn
Clutch Size : 0-2 eggs

Moonstone (White)
Gender : Genderless
Basic Information : Smallest of all the ranks, not only the mutation ones, White Moonstones are exactly what their name makes them seem like, stark, pure white without the beautiful ripples of rainbow their larger and higher ranked siblings boast of. Unlike the whites they have replaced, they usually boast of streaks or tints of another ranks color, but never exceed the size of the smallest green... In fact, Moonstones are much smaller than any other wher, especially with the breeding of the warwhers enhancing size, and tend to be only the size of a rather small pony, but are usually incredibly intelligent, easily on par with a brown dragon or so, though the retain the less intelligent speech of a wher and always refer to themselves by name. Delicate but usually more mutated than most of the other ranks, it is not unusual to see a Moonstone missing various body parts, or to have skin more like a crocodiles, oversized or undersized wings, even double neck ridges or other odd attributes.
Personality : Very bubbly and bright, Moonstones are the children of wher kind, though like any child they can have a spiteful and temperamental side to their nature as well, and seem to be constantly stuck in the 'terrible two' stage, where they might seem chipper one moment, but tearing off on a tantrum the next. Their bondeds have to be able to keep up with their mood swings, and it tends to be harder on a multiple bonding with a Moonstone in the mix due to the emotional see saw they tend to be.
Maturity : 8 months

BASIC INFO

*Originally created by Kitty Ping's daughter in an effort to create more dragons. The end result was what appeared to be twisted, malformed and small dragons, with a drastic reduce in intelligence. It was later to be discovered that this was actually done on purpose, rather than mistake.

*Nocturnal because of their lamp-like reflective eyes, these creatures have a terrific sense of smell and are sometimes used in mines to find "bad air." They are the size of low slung horses, with Greens being drastically smaller then the higher ranks, much like dragons, though their hides and bodies are rather gnarled, with stumpy wings and bodies. Thick hides protect them from the harmful elements. Each of their feet has two gnarled digits on it. Like their fire-lizard and dragon cousins, whers have jewel-like eyes, though their facets have beens moothed out, creating an intolerance to light, and the ability to see in the dark instead. They can fly short distances at night, due to change in atmospheric pressure, but their stumpy wings provide no lift during the day. They -can- go between though.

*Once bonded, the whers will do everything in their power to protect that person, even give their life. Whers bond on the deep telepathic level to their handlers as dragons do to their lifemates. A wher handler will only have one wher at a time. Bonded whers are far more intelligent than their non-bonded cousins, being able to learn and comprehend everything more easily when they are connected to the human mind.

*However, unlike dragons, whers do not 'have' to Impress, and they can also Break a Bond, but only through the harshest of circumstances, and are often too close to break it in the first place without dying. They can live their life without the bond that is so essential to their cousins. Wild-born whers tend to be untrustworthy, unreliable, vicious animals, while those that have survived breaking a bond, or the death of their bond mate remain quite intelligent, and are even more dangerous.

*Without a human at the hatching, the wher hatchlings will leave their mother and go wild. Generally if a Wher hatched from a domestic Wher does not bond with a Handler, they are killed, though some do escape and go feral. Otherwise, they will become vicious and unpredictable, quite often turning even on those who feed them. There has been no reported cases of wild whers bonding with humans, but the occasional one of a bond Broken Wher reimpressing.

IMPRESSION
*Candidates for a Wher hatching can be anywhere between 12 and 35 years of age. They can even have Impressed to a wher before, if that bond has been dissolved through death or unImpression.

*At the Hatching, Wher Candidates will be directed towards the mother wher, where she will judge to see if the candidates are acceptable for those in her clutch or not. Then, that candidate will, if accepted, step forward and choose an egg, or be given one by the mother. They will then take their egg, step away, and wait for it to hatch. Upon hatching the baby will be ravenous, and turn to the nearest human, forming a slight mental bond, enough to give their name -refer to list below- and demand food. The new handler will then slice their hand or forearm, and give their blood to their wher, cementing the bond. After that, the babies must be fed a mixture of oats and blood, then sent to sleep.

*Can be either male or female. They do not shorten their name upon Impressing a wher.

*This site's Whers *do* talk, but in a limited fashion. A green would probably talk to her handler thus:
Misk's like? Misk get.
While a Gold would more likely speak like:
Misk's like this? Misk will get for Misk's.

*Either gender can Impress any rank, though male gold handlers and female bronze handlers are rare.

NAMES

All whers will choose their names upon Impression, a combination of their handler's name and the ending letters 'sk', and these names will be indicative of the strength of the bond between handler and wher.

Weak: Less than 1/3 Name

Medium-Weak: Between 1/3 and 1/2 Name

Medium-Strong: Between 1/2 and 2/3 Name

::A note about multiple wher Impression ::

Any and all wher-handlers or wher-candidates can be Impressed to multiple whers at a time, anywhere from 2 (most common) to five (least common).

Candidates standing for a wher clutch will be the most likely to Impress to several whers at once, especially in a larger clutch... Older handlers with their own whers already must either steal an egg, buy one from the shop, or somehow bully their way onto the sands during a hatching, stay away from the mother long enough, and force or tempt a wherlet to bond to them.

Most common multiple wher Impressions are of lower ranks, or a mix of low and high ranks. It is rare for multiple impressions to be of higher ranks, though not entirely unheard of. It is incredibly rare for anyone with a Gold wher to have multiple bonds. Gold wherhandlers will usually only have their Gold.
Example
A Green :: Green :: Blue wherhandler would be much more common than a Gold :: Bronze or Bronze :: Moonstone pairing.

If you wish to join with a multiple impression wher-handler, please check the availability thread as well as with the admins.
