Structure of the Weyr's Ranks and Wings

Weyrleaders
::Most powerful group in the weyr, compromised of the Senior and Junior Weyrwomen, as well as the Senior and Junior Weyrleader. They mainly refrain from close battle, and Queens are often trained in battle strategy, aerial tactics and maneuvers, and aerial and ground troop movement.

Warleader
::Most powerful non-weyrleading rider, who's battle strategy and tactics have set him or herself head and shoulders above all others. They often serve closely with the Weyrwomen and as a general rule do not participate in close combat. This rider tends to be older, and must have served on the Warcouncil previously. Reports only to the Weyrwoman, and holds a rank similar and yet separate to the Weyrleader.

Warcouncil Members
::Chosen among all the ranks as the capable in creating battle strategies and coordinating ground and aerial troop movement, the Warcouncil operates independently from the wings, and report only to the Weyr and Warleaders.

Weyrwomen
::Lesser Queenriders, often trained in battle tactics, who help disperse the orders coming from the Weyr and Warleaders throughout the Wings. Many weyrwoman also choose to remain on the field with the Healers.

Wingleaders
::Leaders of the individual wings, these riders tends to be of higher dragon-rank within each wing due to size as well as mental capacity, and seem skewed towards bronze and darkness riders, except in the Queen's Wing. Wingleaders operate with one another and must be experienced in strategy, aerial and ground tactics, as well as be able to lead others into battle. While orders that encompass all the wings come from the War and Weyrleaders, individual orders come from these dragons and their riders.

Wingseconds
::Relay between Wingleader and the Wing itself, the Wingsecond must be trained as the wingleader is, yet does not have quite as much responsibility, though they must be able to step up and into the leader position should anything happen to the senior ranking rider of their wing.

Wingthirds
::Said to be the 'glue' that holds the wings together, the Thirds are more wing than order oriented, often keeping the safety of the wing in high regard, as well as making sure that rules are obeyed and everything is running smoothly.

Weyrlingmasters
::Weyrlingmasters hold an odd role outside the normal ranks of dragonriders, and as such, are considered to be somewhere between the wing's leaders, and the riders.

Specialists
::Another 'rank' outside the usual order of wings and leaders, theses are the dragons who hold varying positions, such as Dragon Healer, Harper, etc. They are ranked individually for their skills as well.

Senior Wingriders
::Older or more experienced wingriders. Their voice has more say when it comes to discussing things with their Wingleaders or amongst other wingriders.

Junior Wingriders
::Typically just-out-of-weyrlinghood riders, or those who lack combat skill in some significant manner, Junior wingriders have less power

Senior Weyrlings
::Elder weyrlings who are closer to graduation than the lesser 'classes'. They often serve in Threadfall or Battles by carrying weapons, equipment, healers, or firestone up to the Wings.

Junior Weyrlings
::The younger class or classes of weyrlings who have not yet made it through their first flights. They serve as ground crews for the Healers during Battles and Threadfall, but rarely get near the combat lines.
