How to combat threats

So, it has come to my attention that some don’t really comprehend the current style of combat so I would just like to write down how things work.

There are two main different types of opponents, those whom you, as a writer, are able to kill off in your own manner. And then there are special opponents, for which the Quest Runners/NPC Controllers/Admins will write actions, as if they were an opponent controlled by another writer.

I will go over how to combat these threats.

Grade 1 opponents – Those that you may kill off, proving to be minor threats, canon fodder if you will. You will mainly be faced with these opponents but in a number of different ways and it is up to you to determine most of the actions they take, such as landing the occasional blow against you. The person running the event will not often control these opponents but they may intervene every once in a while to, say, have a hit land or generalise the movement of the group. This is where you have to be most cautious to God-mod. Remember to integrate their level to your character’s ability level, nobody’s invincible, but a flashy move every once and a while doesn’t go amiss.

Grade 2 opponents – These will be used as either bosses or mini-bosses, say special soldiers who are slightly more tough and intelligent than the usual lackeys. The event runner will make sure to note to you (most likely out of character) that these opponents are being controlled by them. You must approach these opponents as you would another’s character, no controlling their movements, and not saying that your hits connect, the event runner will be writing to push both you and your character and make the whole thing more interesting.

There, I hope that helped with, what I have perceived as, the small amount of confusion surrounding the fighting system.

If you need to inquire more, please feel free to PM with a question or message.

Thank You
