Manga, faves

So, who here reads manga? ( I wasn't sure if manga was included or not in Matt's graphic novel /comic topic since no one really mentioned manga, so I thought I'd play it safe and start a new topic, to be sure.)


So what are your favourite pieces of Manga, if you do read them? My favourite manga series is Petshop of horrors. After that comes Bride of Deimos, Fruits basket, Naruto, FMA...but mainly Petshop of horrors because the stories are so original, and the artwork is fantastic, with really great characters.


While you guys are thinking, I'm off to read some more manga- ciao!

Lot's of different title's there ^^ I just started reading the Battle Royale manga's---- violent..lol . Very.


So what is it you like about manga anyway. Why do you chose to read it? ( Just to keep this topic going, if anything ^^ )

I choose to read manga, because I think it tells a lot more of the story than the show/movie would tell about the series. I think illustrations show a lot more than dialogue does, and there's always the neat little tidbits written on the sides of the pages.

Yup I read a lot of different manga. I couldn't stick with one type as I would probably get bored with it.

Manga are usually more detailed then the anime version, while the story is usually the same the manga makes more sense as they take time explaining things and have conversations that last a chapter.
I used too read the manga after watching the anime but nowadays it's the other way around.

Anyways some other manga that is really cool:
Perfect Girl Evolution (there's also an anime being made, ep one has recently been subbed. However the manga is better then the anime IMO)

Kurohime (I have only found 5 chapters so far but this manga has some incredibly funny moments)

Anyways where do you people get your manga?

Barnes & Noble usually has a great stock of manga at their stores. Borders, as well. Borders is where I have gotten my Rurouni Kenshin volumes from. All the other manga I have read are either gifts from friends, or they let me borrow them.

I live in the Netherlands, there is no Barnes and Noble here. There are only few places to buy manga here and usually they only sell manga of which the anime is already dubbed such a shaman king (of which I didn't find the anime that great)
