10,000 Iraqi military units surrounded the British base at Basra forcing the British troops to leave. The King has given an ultimatium of 10 hours for ALL British personnel to leave, American Naval Forces are deployed into the Persian Gulf to make sure no counterattack from Britain can happen.

Secret
Members of the Iraqi Communist Party were watching at the developments in Iraq with great attention, and, perhaps, concern... and so did foreign agents. Communiques with high-ranking members of the armed forces and the Kurdish minority were established in absolute secrecy, and the MGB, hidden behind all of this, was in the eyes of many of the observers.

We will NOT leave the base in Basra granted to us by the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty, particularly under these circumstances. His Majesty's Armed Forces in Basra are there under the authority of international law, and so they shall remain. Any attempt to violate our Iraqi bases will result in a full invasion of the Islamic Kingdom of Iraq. Furthermore, we shall consider any such invasion of the bases to be a direct attack on the United Kingdom itself.

Until this illegal siege is called off, the Royal Navy fleet that have been stationed in the Persian Gulf due to the outbreak of the Iranian Civil War (OOC: Read the Iranian Civil War thread) shall initiate a blockade of Iraq. No Iraqi ships, unless they are under the auspices of a British corporation, shall be allowed to depart from the Gulf.

We demand an immediate end to this attempted theft of the British bases in Basra and an apology from the Iraqi government. Furthermore, we call on our allies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Transjordan to oppose this aggression by Iraq. We remind the Kingdom of Transjordan that they have just agreed to a treaty which sets up mutual defence between our two realms.

[Secret]

All Royal Navy ships in the Persian Gulf have been called to Kuwait and are now blockading Iraq. The aircraft carriers are readying the Royal Air Force planes stationed on them for deployment and bombing at a moment's notice. Furthermore, 35,000 troops of the total 65,000 deployed to the Persian Gulf have been stationed in Kuwait.

His Royal Majesty, Abd al-Aziz Al Sa'ud, King of Saudi Arabia is perturbed by the recent actions of his dearest friend, King Amir ul-Mu'mineen. The violence with which the Islamic Kingdom of Iraq has struggle against the British Empire has always puzzled His Royal Majesty. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is proud to call both Iraq and the United Kingdom allies, and would be most pleased if they could reconcile their respective differences and come to a peaceful and equitable solution to the conflict between them. In this spirit, we would like to invite delegations from Iraq and the United Kingdom to Riyadh.

[SECRET]

Agents of the Al Mukhabarat Al A'amah (General Intelligence Directorate) have been dispatched to Iraq to monitor the situation more closely. Although a large amount of these agents will be focused around the city of Basra, many will be dispersed across Iraq.

The Kingdom of Transjordan echoes the concerns expressed by the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We plead with our Arab brothers in Iraq to change their course. Do not dishonor your word by refusing to abide by your agreements. The Kingdom of Transjordan would like to offer any aid possible to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in mediating this dispute.

Furthermore, the Kingdom of Transjordan is somewhat confused as to why the United States of America would seek to enforce this decision against the United Kingdom through the deployments in the Persian Gulf. We had thought that the United States were allied to the United Kingdom, and do not understand this course.

We are only saddened because the British didnt honor their part of the agreement. They promised under the agreement to protect the Islamic Kingdom of Iraq but this did not happen when the Soviets invaded us. Our only allies whom actually helped us were the United States and Saudi Arabia that is why we are most grateful to them.

Perharps we can write a new treaty seeing this has become disfunctional but be warned I will not do the same mistake as how my predecessor did. I shall not let you take any advantage out of anything that is Iraqi.

His Majesty's government in the United Kingdom views these threats and the condescending attitude of the Iraqis to be offensive and on the border with outright insanity. Do the Iraqis really believe that by threatening us they can force us to the negotiating table when we have done nothing wrong? Stop your senseless threats to British interests in your nation, or we shall be forced to take action.
