I find that the left and right can be divided between Star Trek and Star Wars.

Personally I'm a fan of both. Although the problem with Star Wars is the awkward and clunky dialogue and the incompetence of the story teller. It's so poorly written that one can only sympathize with the Empire (which if you watch the movies open mindedly, you can see that the Empire is clearly the good guys.) Either it's a very clever method of making you sympathize with the bad guy, or it's the most incompetent way that anyone has portrayed good guys.
