Jaesrri stood at the ship's rail, not far from the prow. She had finished the unimportant task she'd turned her hand to, and indulged in a moment to recall the last few weeks. Following her precipitous departure from her last berth, she'd signed on with Captain Flint. Already, with not even a month on the ship behind her, she felt more at home than she had since the awful day on the WindTamer when she'd been cut loose in the world with the sail that had carried her father to the locker.
Looking up from her revirie Jae noticed storm clouds on the horizon and the damp energized feel of the stiffening breeze, so she pushed the past back where it belonged and turned to head for the rigging, where, if she'd read the signs right, she'd be needed before long.
