Pern is not what it was!!!
War, unrest and heartache are common these days. Thread, that terrible enemy has returned, and there are no riders or dragons to fight it.
Who can we turn too?
Are there really dragons back at the old High Reaches Weyr?
If so why have they called the Holders to a meeting? The answers are out there. But will we like them?

Its winter around High Reaches. The weather is bitterly cold. Snow falls nearly constantly, and a strange black dust is falling on Hold and Weyr alike!!!
