Hmmm, they say "they have received word", but from where exactly? All still sounds like a rumour and I wont believe it until Sony themselves come out and confirm it.

We should have had these features a long time ago imo, but it will be great when we finally do get it.

If voice chat is in 2.4 EG match play will be awesome. As long as you don't mind the odd swear word or 10. :P

reason it could be fake is u could just put a bioshock video on ur PS3 start playing it then press the PS, then u will bring up the XMB.

reason it could be real is the top right hand corner has got the date and time, which is meant to be in 2.40 aswell.

i think in game video chat could happen at sometime but i dont think we will get that feature just yet.

If you boot up Burnout JB you'd know about the Custom Soundtracks on the way to Burnout. :D Don't know if that's anything to do with 2.4 mind or just the Burnout patch.

Edit. Thinking about it Super Stardust has Custom Soundtracks so it's maybe just the developers patch that includes it. 29 days time I read JB. :D

Really just not that arsed about IGM. If peeople were pestering me like they did on 360 all the time when I was doing single player with game invites it would piss me off. :P ( I've had 7 PS3 games with IGM and never used it)

They said that Trophies will go "much further" than achievements on the 360 so that's why I'm interested to know what they are doing with it. :D

If you were being pestered all the time on the 360 then perhaps you had the wrong friends! I only ever get invites to chat or play with my main friends on the 360! Anyway you can still get pestered without having the ingame xmb by sending messages out of game! This to me is highly annoying that you have to come out of game to read them!

lol this really makes me laugh. Unless the message said, "Quick Urgent" why would anyone leave what they were doing to read a message. I must be the only one that wouldn't leave a game??

There was nothing wrong with the people on 360 and they were all friends, but I'd be playing COD2 and invite after invite would come through and it did my head in. In fact ever game that I had that was online.

If your phone goes and it's a friend do you say: no i'm in the middle of a game to the misses I will call him back tomorrow? I expect you just pause the game and speak to him, well I would hope you do!

At the end of the day if you don't want to be disturbed why didn't you just put your profile to offline? Surely that would have been the sensible thing to do, then you could have played your games in peace! At least there is that option on live which imo is long overdue on the ps3! (think i've had this argument before!!!)

It's one small thing (in game xmb) surely you can admit to yourself it's needed, sony wont sue you, you know!!!

It's all about online, lag free gameplay for me not sending messages back and to to each other.
I will "phone" a friend to chat and not message on a console m8. Apart from my brother the lads are just voices. Online friends, yeah I've met some in London and we had a laugh but we are just people that get on and play online. If I classed all these as true friends I'd be a little lonley and, er, sad. ;) Facebook anyone. :lol: :lol: (some very strange peeps on that)

Sounds a little heavy but just making a point as it did sound a little bit finger pointing.

I would like to chat to a few on here when doing a game that doesn't need my full attention but messages, nar sorry will never say it's a much needed thing as I don't think it is. :D (for me)

pps. I can understand that having a 360 would make it frustrating that you couldn't do something on your PS3, I'm no fanboy because I only own the PS3.

I think theres pleny of very good examples accross this forum , when we have tried to arrange a meet that if we had xmb it would have made it Soooooo much easier .

meets for ranibow 6 vegas , cod 4 , f1 , rfom , motorsotrm and most recently graw 2 .

All with xmb would have greatly improved communication IMO

As for invites a quick reply of somthing like "gonna be playing single player for a while, cheers for the invite, catch up with you another time " aint so hard in my eyes and puts a stop to the invites :S if you dont fancy doing that the do the old apear offline or busy msn style.

If your gettting spammed like invite after invite ect ect.... i can see that getting annoying and those that did... was not on my friendlist for long :lol:

What would be handy if they link the PSN to the PC like live so you can message if they don't have the PS3 on. Now that's handy.
I don't just meen if your on the ps forum, but if your on the PC you can turn something on like xfire???

If I see someone is in a game on the PS3 I won't msg them because I know they have to quit the game to read it. But sometimes I fancy a game of EG but there's no one on. This means I have to sit in the lobby hoping someone logs in because I know if I am playing something else people won't msg me because they know I can't read it. I can understand not wanting to be bothered sometimes but just set yourself as away. I can't wait to be able to arrange multiplayer sessions while I am playing other games.

This is the only subject that really gets me narked on the PS3! And it doesn't help that you put your view only for someone to put "lol this really makes me laugh."

I'm not 100% on this but I think 99.9% of people really would like in game xmb and most can even admit it! Hey perhaps they could even do skype chat on the xmb so you could call or message your mates who are on PC!

Can't wait for that day where Sony finally bring out 2.4 making the online experience so much more convenient!

@kris what i was saying m8 was that the other night when you set up a game for graw 2 and old jbloke jumped on but most had left and was on MGS4 .... XMB would have been so handy.

i like the fact on the 360 that if im playing singleplayer game and people jump online i can immediatly see what there playing and if there joinable .
Plus i can arrange to meet up on a game in no time as i found that once there was 2 or 3 on a game joinable there end up being 10-12 online .

Ah I see. JB turned up online after we'd all come off and gone on MGS. IGM wouldn't have made one bit of difference.

As for trophys im intrested to see what sony do but hope its not copying the achievments from the 360 (where has originality gone these days :S ).

I have a love hate thing with achievments , on one hand i like the pop that says you just got your 2000 headshot or somthing .... but hate the gamer score that goes with it .
As imo gamerscore = grinding.
it also fucks up online play in games.
For example say your playing quake ;) you got to work as a team to win but 4-5 of your team are playing for achivements/tropthys?.
Ones after the get 100 headshot , one after revive 100 team mates and so on ect ect .... it fucks the whole online play and ruins the game for me as instead of just playing the game as its intended you have a sniper camped some where just going for the headshot achievment, a medic just reviving all the time and both couldnt careless about winning or lossing just unlocking that 20 gamerscore points.

Now say there's 50 diffrent achievments/trophys? all for online play it really can ruin the fun side of online play.

See i like to know when iv hit these acheivments but i like it when it happens and im not thinking about it .

Plus theres some really shity ones out there again eg BULLY 360 kick a football 100 times WTF 10 gamerscore lol .

Thats all with out the im better than you aspect cos i have more gamerpoints/trophys ect ect

Hopefully sony have something with alittle more punch :D



P.S what i will say who ever came up with the achievment idea for microsoft was pure genius as from a company aspect it sells more games , creates a competative edge between gamers and friends and sell more crappy games as people just intrested in gamerscores.

I agree with what Rogue is saying here. I came on that night just after 9.45 kind of expecting people still to be on GRAW2. I was looking forward to GRAW2 but everyone was on MGS4, was there a point in me sending out messages trying to persuade people to get on GRAW2 for a few games? No because without IGM/XMB people would have likely ignored it because it means they would have had to quit MGS4 to read it, so IGM/XMB would have been handy, as if we had it I would have sent messages doing the pester lol.

I can see where Kris is coming from in terms of I dont get messages much anyway, maybe this is because we dont have IGM/XMB? I do feel its essential for PS3 though and I think 95% of all PS3 owners really want it and feel that they need it.

One thing I like about Live that I wish PS3 had is the ability to have a voice chat with someone while playing a single player game. I can remember times when I was on Gears of War single player and I would be chatting to AK or Gaz while they were playing a different game, would like to do that on PS3.

I'm interested in this whole trophies thing although I really hope its not too similar to achievements/gamerscore of Live as I hated it, well mainly hated the gamerscore aspect of it as I would get abused by whiney american kids for having a low gamerscore, little bastards :XD:
