Study Hall wasn't exactly the most popular place to be, and though Kasey did care about her look, at times she just didn't care. She could live being caught in the Study Hall every once in a while. Why, didn't her label make people think she'd be there? It didn't actually matter if she went or not, as people believe whatever they want. And anyways, her English teacher had given her a free period as she was ahead of the class and she wanted to stay near the classes so she wouldn't be late for Math.

As it was, Kasey needn't have worried about her reputation, the Study Hall was nearly empty, and she sat down quietly in a cornor, pulling out Of Human Bondage by W. Sommerset Maugham, the newest book in her collection. It occured to her that if anyone else saw the title they'd probably wonder about her, what she did in her spare time, but Kasey didn't care. The book wasn't actually about the 'bondage scene', and anyway, if it was what was it to the sniggering ninth grade girls? Nothing.

Kasey had always been the kind of girl who would never live through other people opinions. And, though yes, from time to time she'd pretend to be people friends, etc. etc., it was only because it helped her, not because she cared how the world viewed her. Wasn't that obvious by the people she actually liked, the people she actually considered friends? There was Evan, and he was a geek, and then Carter - geek as well. See, if she really cared she'd have never befriended either.

Though, she didn't exactly befriend them.

In time she did become friends with both, they were two of her closest friends, but that's not to say she'd wanted it that way to begin with. Kasey isn't the friendliest girl in the world, and she'd never thought she'd get on with either of the geeks, but somehow she did. Maybe even a little too much. However, at the moment her friendships weren't getting in the way of anything, so why bother thinking about it all. For once Kasey just felt like sitting back and relaxing.
