Welcome to the OC!

So, you want to join the game? Great! We LOVE new members! Here's the step-by-step process you need to get in the game with us!

*Do you want to join the Twitter game, the forum game, or both?* We have two games here at the OC; the Twitter game, which is for short and sweet roleplay, and the Forum game, which is for longer posts and more complex plotlines. You can join one and not the other, or you can join both; just remember that you'll need to audition for each game you want to play in.

*Check to see if the character you want to play is available.*
If you want to play a canon (from the book) character, you need to check to see if someone is already playing them. You can view the handy list HERE. If there is a checked box next to the character you want, sorry, it's been taken. If there is an open box, then YAY, you're free to audition!

Do you want to be an original character? No problem we love those, too!

*Read the Rules and the FAQ*
Seriously, please. Read THE RULES and THE FAQ. Not only will you learn valuable information about who we are and what we expect, but you'll also find the handy-dandy code phrase we ask for in our auditions.

*Get to know your game*
If you want to join the Twitter game, FOLLOW THE CHARACTERS and get to know the game. If you want to join the Forum game, read through the current posts and get a feel for your other players.

*Prepare your audition*
You can find our audition template HERE. If you want to play in the Twitter game, fill out the Twitter audition. If you want to play in the Forum game, fill out the Forum audition. Sound simple? It is. In the audition templates, you'll notice the super-handy CODE box. Copy and paste the code in there into your own document. Fill out your audition. Spell check, please, we love that.

*Post your audition*
When you're all ready, you can POST YOUR AUDITION. Post it as a new topic, AS A GUEST (do NOT register, it makes your admins and mods all feisty inside, and you don't want that, really.) Your topic should read "CHARACTER LAST NAME, Character First Name - Twitter Audition" (Or Forum audition, you get the idea).

*Patience is a virtue*
Auditions are read and voted on by the team of admins and moderators. There are 5 of us. 3 "yes" votes gets you in. We get to the auditions as quickly as we can, but we do have full time lives and sometimes it takes us some time to read through them. Being patient will win you brownie points, as will your willingness to read and respond to any questions we have. We really want new members, but we also want those new members to be successful in the game. So, we may ask you some questions or for more explanation. It happens, it's part of the game. Expect it.

*Accepted? YAY!*
Your first step is to register for the site! Next, if you're joining the Twitter game, message an admin with your twitter name, rating (G-NC-17), and Formspring Name, if you have one. If you're joining the Forum game, post in the Inspirations and Musings Forum with your game ideas! Someone will likely jump at the chance to create a thread with you.

*Not Accepted yet? Aw, don't lose heart!*
Sometimes, it takes a second try. We're all good people, honest, and we're eager to see new members join. Sometimes, you're just not quite ready, but that doesn't mean all hope is lost! Talk to any admin or moderator about what you could improve on, and resubmit your app! We have an unlimited amount of chances here, and we'd love to see you back again!
