Board Rules
Welcome to Old School Hogwarts! Here are the Rules, Regulations, and Guidelines of the Forum:


Joining A House/ Common Room

All common rooms (Slytherin, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw) are only able to be open by those that are in that house.

To gain access to a House Common Room and join a house, all members need to PM an Administrator.

When you join a House, you will earn your house 10 points.



House Points

House Points are a vital part of friendly competition and the running of the Old School Forums.

Every member will need to join a house. If, after two weeks after your regirstration, you do not belong to a house, you will recieve an email or PM by an Administrator or a Moderator reminding you. If, a month goes by and you do not belong to a House, you will get suspended until you join a House.

Your triumphs will award you points, well your rule breaking will lose you points.

You can gain points by posting well-thought out posts, being kind to new members, helping members, setting a wonderful example for other members, or by anything else the Moderators and the Administrators feel is worthy.

You will lose points by breaking rules. You can also get banned by breaking certain rules or in certain quanties.

Houses will be in competition for having the post points in a year. A year will be measured by three months. The Staff will annouce the beginning of the term and the end date. The House that has the most number of points at the end of the year will win the House Cup. You will recieve awards.


Portal/Shop

For every post you make, you will recieve 5 galleons. There is a shop where you can "buy" things such as avatars, name changes, etc. If you have any questions, please PM an Administrator


Member Titles/Ranks

Member Titles and ranks are titles that goes below a member usersname. Ranks are different titles that go along with the amount of posts you have. Yet, just posting spam to increase a rank, your posts will be decreased. The Administrators have the power to alter Ranks and post. Member titles replace ranks. Member titles are given out by the Administrators. Any questions about member titles, please PM an Administrator.



Rules

The Rules are laws of the board. All members will need to follow them and respect them.

The Old School Forums is friendly, family based forum.

No Flamming. Posts/reviews need to be constructive. Flamming will result in deduction of House Points.

Members cannot use vuglar language. No swearing, cusing, or cursing is allowed. No racial, ethnic slurs are allowed. Everyone here is very strict with this. The first instance will result by the Moderator's disceration. The typical punishment is being banned for two weeks and the lost of 25 points for your house. Multiple times will result in be banned from the site and the deletion of your account. Exceptions may happen in certain circumstances. If you post a racial, ethnic, or other type of slur, you will get banned if there is no chance of that being mis-interpeted (like a blonde joke took the wrong way, etc). If there is a chance, you will get banned for two weeks and be on probation for one month. Probation is a period where every post has to be approved by a moderator before it is posted.

Members need not to pick an offensive username. If you do, you will get PM by an Administrator. You will have 5 days to change it.

Members cannot Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages or SPAM, double post, or triple post. If you spam, the post will be deleted and with the lost of 5 points automatically. If you spam multiple times, you will lost ten points per instance.

Member cannot post any offensive images. If you post any offensive images, use any in your avatar, or signature, they will be removed immediately without warning. You will lose permission to use avatars and signatures for three months. If you post another offensive image after that period of time, you will be banned from the site. If you have questions on what is offensive, please contact an Administrator.

Please stay on topic. Do not talk about the books in the movie section and do not post topics in wrong sessions. All posts that stray to far off topic will be relocated or removed.

Please do not post about personal things. Topics such as suicide and rape are not allowed. If you would like to talk to another member about personal issues, please e-mail them and keep it off the forum.

Remember that all sections will contain spoilers.

Please use proper English. No internet, AIM, MSN, or shorthand abbreviations or words. Please do not use words such as 2, u, g8t, etc. All members will recieve a warning after the first time. Additionally times will result in lost of house points.

Members need to be polite and kind to all members. Members need to respects members' opinions. If you do not agree with someone opinions, you do not have to respond to it. If you do respond, you need to be polite and kind. All cases of people being not polite and kind to all members will be held at the Administrator's decision. All cases, though, will result in reduction of House points.

The Detention Board is where Moderators and Administrators post who is banned/ suspended and for what reasons. All members will be contacted via PM and email to let you know of your banning or supension.

If members have continuous bad actions, staff members will post the name and action of that member.

If you find a post to be rude or distrubing, please click report and send it along with a note to an Administrator. The Administrator will take care of it without using your name.




Threads

All threads will be locked after reaching certain number of posts.

The threads will remain in the category locked for a week and a half. After that time, it will be moved and stored forever in the Graveyard.

There should be only one thread per topic. Multiple threads will be deleted.

If a thread was locked and moved and you would like it to be unlocked and moved back, please PM an Administrator.

Threads need to stay on topic and be productive.

Please, remember that is forum is dedicated to the Marauders and Old School Hogwarts. Please, try to limit discussions of current to the forums set aside for it.

Prefects will try to increase and start thoughtful discussions.

Topics that are important and should be read are pinned. Please, DO NOT PM an Administrator, Moderator, or Prefect to get your thread pinned.



Staff

All staff members need to be respected and treated nicely.

Even though the staff works to serve you, you need to treat them with kindness. All staff are hard working and dedicated to their job.

All staff members are available via PM and email. Some post AIM or MSN for other contact routes.

Staff members will help you with any problems that you may encounter to the best of their ability.

Staff members can answer questions in the Interactive Board.

Staff biographies are available in the Announcement Board.
