How do I start a new fic?Go to the appropriate forum in the current section and click the "New Topic" button.
How do I update my fic?Click the "Add Reply" button and post away!
How do I change the title of my fic so people know I've updated?Go back to your first post on the thread, click edit, and then change it.
How do I delete a thread or move it from one forum to another?Email or PM one of the admins or mods and they will do it for you.
How do I move my fic from the unfinished (read-only) forum to the current section?Email or PM one of the admins or the forum's moderator and they will do it for you.
I don't like my username, can I change it or should I make a new accountContact one of the admins and they'll change your username. Please don't unnecessarily create new accounts.
Why do I have a warning level bar, did I do something wrong?Unless you see it go up from whatever it is now, you have nothing to worry about. If you do something wrong, you'll see your level go up and the mod/admin who warned you will contact you.
How do I add banners, text to my signature?My Controls->Edit Signature-> Use the tags you want, ie. IMG for banners, http:// for a link, etc
How to I add an avatar?My Controls->Edit Avatar Settings-> Put in location of avatar and press update avatar
How to center my text/banner?[align=center!] text or image [/align!] without the exclamations marks
How many banners can I use in my signature and what is the size limit?You can have five banners no larger than 600 by 300 pixels.
What does is it mean to host or hotlink a picture?Hosting means to upload a picture on to a server so you can access it from anywhere on the web. You can use sites like
Photobucket and
Imageshack to host your banners, avatars, etc
Hotlinking means that you are using someone else's bandwidth to post your pictures, which is not only wrong but illegal as well. An example of hotlinking would be:
Say you find a banner you really like on a website, you right-click and copy the url and then you use it, to display the banner in you signature. If you really want to use it, you should save it on your comp, upload it to one of the websites I mentioned and you the url they provide you to display the pic in your signature.
What programs do you use to make banners, avatars, etc?The most common programs to use are Photoshop and Paintshop Pro. For a beginner, I recommend Paintshop Pro because it's more user friendly. For animated avatars, you can use Animation Shop. You can download trial versions of the aforementioned products in the following places:
