Kat Avalon, or Kitty as her friends calls her, is from a family of Pokémon trainers and Pokémon breeders. Her father was a Pokémon Master before he retired. Kitty wants to follow in her farther footsteps but with her own Pokémon team at her side. They lived in Pallet Town in the Kanto Region before Kitty's mother died. They then moved to Noria University. Since Kitty was always shy she was pick on in their old hometown which is another reason they moved from Pallet Town. Kitty's father wanted to take Kitty somewhere where she could make some friends that weren't mean to her.
