The Marauders are No Longer Memories...
Welcome, everyone, to No Longer Memories.
We are a brand new roleplaying group dedicated to the Marauders of Hogwarts. Here you can roleplay as one of the canons back during the Marauder's days, or be your own, made up character. Join us as we live through the times of Hogwart's Famous Four. For now, the times of the Marauders, are No Longer Memories...

Updates:

We are taking applications for canon and original characters.
Please, only apply for canons -especially plot canons- if you are talented enough at roleplaying. I'm picky, just to warn you :)
The boards are officially opened for roleplaying, but we still are in desperate need for many plot canon characters.

Introduction:
Please understand that following regulations are not created to boss our members around, but no organized community can get along without any rules. They are only here to make the site better place for all of you.

Administrators have the power to override all of the rules. If you feel you should be granted an exception for any reason, it never hurts to ask.

Applying for membership section:
  • We apologize for the inconvenience, but according to Invisionfree terms of service you have to be thirteen years of age, or older to become a member.

  • Members who fail to complete their registrations in 30 days will have their accounts deleted. By completing the registration we mean having your character sorted. (If this happens to you, there is nothing preventing you from registering again, though. This is only taking place to ensure our member list and sorting process won't be spammed by hundreds of inactive members.)

  • Your member name must be that of your character, with capitalized first letters. Furthermore, your character must have at least two names (unless an exception has been granted by admins), divided with a space. (If you accidentally created an account with improper name, it’s not a big deal. Just PM an admin to change it.)

  • Non-human creatures must be true to the books. (Not necessarily Harry Potter series. Mythology or thaumatology resources work too, because Rowling only mentions very few things in her books. In case there are more interpretations on a race (veelas, for example), explain which one you choose. It would be a good idea to consult a staff member, they have the final word.)

  • Please put the term "snorkack" in the notes section of your character sheet application. (If you do not do this, we will assume you have not read the rules and will not accept your character.)
General Rules:
These rules apply all around NLM, in both in an out of character posts.
  • No racial, nationalistic, sexual, or any other kind of discrimination will be tolerated.

  • No advertising. (Exception: Our members may promote their sites in the Reviews forum.)

  • No spamming, flooding or cross-posting.

  • Please keep swearing and foul language at minimum. Sure, both you and your character might get angry sometimes. But please limit it, and be creative. (In case it is you, I would suggest taking cold shower first, it will help. ^_~ )

  • You are allowed to post mature content (This applies mostly to RPing threads. Only text is allowed, no pictures.) on the site, but such posts have to have a warning label to protect our members.

  • Keep arguing to a minimum. No one is interested in your personal quarrels; keep them out of public places.

  • Please do not double-post if possible, edit your post instead.

  • Sentences in your posts should obey grammatical rules. This includes punctuation, quotation, and capitalization. Use common sense. (Of course no one is going to persecute you for an occasional mistake, this is not an English class... it’s enough if you try and do your best. However, complete ignorance of grammar is very annoying and will not be tolerated.) Learn why punctuation is important. ;-)

  • Your signature may not contain pictures not related to role-playing, or your character.

  • Respect other members' bandwidth.
The size of signature images can by no larger than 400x200. That is plenty big, so no complaining either tongue.gif You can have more than one image in the signature, as long as their area and size aren't larger than the mentioned values. Also, do not use images larger than 200x300 when linking your avatar. (once, a guy was using a 350kB 1200x960 picture for his avatar)
Role-playing section:
  • Your post must be around 100 words long, or more.
In case you aren't comfortable with having the words counted, you may use the IF "Check Post Length" script, by clicking the button under the Smilies box. Anything over 550 characters is okay.(Apologies for the inconvenience, but this is necessary in order to keep the forums on high standard level. All posts should have something to contribute to the thread. If you have difficulties with writing posts that long, ask us to help and tutor your RPing. If all else fails, you are probably not suited for NLM just yet. Don’t worry, though. There are sites out there which don’t have the length requirement. You can train there and come back later.)

  • You may not control thoughts, or actions, of other players' characters, nor decide what happens to them. (This is also known as god-modding.)
Example: I can’t decide that your character broke his or her leg. However, I can say “Gwinnadain kicked the man strongly, aiming for the leg.” I can’t even say the kick hit, because you might decide your character managed to dodge.
Be reasonable when deciding whether your character has the upper hand. For example, if I had been striking from behind, it would be unlikely for your character to successfully dodge.

  • Keep your character strength at reasonable level. Remember that he, or she is just a teenage student. Not a master archmage, neither a brave warrior. Mary-Sueing will not be tolerated. (hint : Make sure your character has some weaknesses as well, it is them that makes your character a real person, and brings fun to the role-playing.)

  • Where there is a need to determine winner of any contest between characters, (fighting falls under this category) be reasonable. Your character can't win every time. (In case you can't come to a consensus, contact a staff member to judge the situation.)

  • If you are an active member, you are allowed to play more than one character. Usually, it is a good idea for one of your characters to be a teacher.

  • Getting married, pregnant, etc. is allowed. However, discuss this with a Staff member in advance, please. (Mostly for a warning, being that same canons are supose to get married, pregnant, etc.)

  • Role playing threads are not a suitable place for OOC (out of character) small talk. (If you want to talk about anything not related to the thread, use either OOC forums, or PMs.)
Consequences :

If you break any of the rules above, you might have to face them. The severity of possible punishment depends on your actions, and attitude. (And sometimes also on the mood of the staff member ;-) )
  • Verbal warning : This is the most common way to solve rules violations. Provided they are not serious, nor repetitive.
  • Increasing warning level : Everyone has a warning bar, which the staff members may increase. This is essentially the official version of the verbal warning above. If you cease breaking the rules, the warning will be removed after some time. If the bar gets too high, more serious penalties will have to be set.
  • Post count Decrease : This will happen to spammers, mostly. Their post count might be reduced to any level.
  • Moderator Queue : This enforces moderator preview on all of your posts. They won’t appear on the forums unless a moderator approves them.
  • Posting Restriction : Essentially a more serious version of Mod Queue, for compulsive spammers or abusers. You can’t post at all. Either permanently, or for some time.
  • Suspension : This is a temporary ban (see below).
  • Ban : This is the strongest punishment in our arsenal, and is very rarely used. You simply can’t do anything on the boards, not even log in or read the posts.
