Ah, the merfolk of the NeverLand Mermaid Lagoon. Such extraordinary creatures, rather intelligentbeings. Gracious and beautiful, serene and poised. Mysterious and clever. Oh, the cleverness of them! Of course, mermaids were not merely as they were portrayed in classic stories, as nothing more than bewitching beauties with the gift of song. Stinkin' Grimm Brothers!Merfolk were also dark and dangerous creatures, deadly to those they deemed less than worthy and to most mortal beings. Sweetly drown you they will, if friendly ground is not found and you wander too close to their habitat. But even to those that should fear for their lives, merfolk were entrancing, interesting, and impossible to ignore. They had a power, a source the no one could rightly put their finger on. One look into their majestic eyes, and one could lose themselves.

Peter Pan did not fear these beings. As it were, many of this species were considered friends and allies of the Pan, through the war and chaos in NeverLand. Many of them found Peter quite appealing, and Peter had even been accused of stealing the hearts of some. As if he wanted them! What would he do with the heart of a mermaid? Or the heart of anyone for that matter? He cared not of things of endearment, nor of love. He had found friends in many of them, and some seemed to sway to his side when it came to war. Of course, there was one...one mermaid that wished to see the demise of the Pan Man...and that was Queen Undine.

Peter feared nothing and no one! At least, that was what he portrayed to others! So what if Undine wanted his head on a platter of lettace. He did not lose sleep at night, and knew that some of his mer-allies would never allow such things to happen while they were around. Still, though Peter refused to fear the beautiful Queen, he had to be smart when it came to her, for she held a great amount of power. He would never shy away from the lagoon, but when she was 'round, he had better watch himself. Lucky for him, he had recieved word that Undine was not present this day. At least, no where to be seen.

Peter found that he himself was very much like the merfolk. Or, at least he thought himself to be. Deadly to enemies, but enigmatic and charismatic to those deemed worthy of his affections.

Today, on this day, Peter was headed to Mermaid Lagoon. he wished to learn of the new threats against he and his lost boys, and the Mermaids (the ones loyal to him) could lead him on the right track.

Whistling a jubilant tune, merry and playful in origin, Peter rode on the back of the wond, casually gliding through the air. He surveyed the world underneath, watching with cautious eyes as he neared the Lagoon. There were nasty characters about, and Peter had always to be careful.

Peter lowered himself in the air as he came just overhead the Lagoon. For a moment, he hovered, tanned arms folding over his bronze and muscularly thin chest. He turned his head this way and that, scanning the area with thoughtful eyes. Decidng himself to be in the clear and safe, he lowered himself further still, until he stood on the top of one of the tallest rocks. Smiling, he sat down, dangling his feet over the edge of the rock. He reached around, pulling out the wodden pip-flute that he had made some time ago. Closing his green eyes, he lifted it to his mouth, and began to push air through the pipes, making a soft and beautiful noise. This was his greeting

Naunet hummed lightly as she stroked her hair, lying on a flat rock in mermaid lagoon. You wouldn't notice her with how close to the water she was. Unless you were actually looking for her. Her humming faded though as her thoughts began to cloud her. Mainly thoughts of Ty. The big jerk. Couldn't he have warned her before they made the bet what he considered being caught? Naunet was confident she'd win the bet, and that worried her. She was in no way ready for marriage. Why did men have to be so sneaky? It was frustrating! Stupid men. Maybe it had something to do with the funny colored hair... it wasn't making his brain work right or something. Yes, that had to be it. Stupid blue hair.

The mermaid had stopped moving completely as she got lost in these thoughts, and that was when she heard something quite soft, and beautiful. The sound was easily identified as a pip-flute. More than likely it was Peter Pan, and that made Naunet cheer up a bit. While she may not be one of the mermaids who was totally in love with him, he was still a friend and had a way of cheering people up. Whether he knew it or not. She sat up and spotted Peter on one of the tallest rocks and smiled to herself. Humming along with the tune he was playing. Her electric blue eyes continued watching him until his tune was done and she swiveled around, her tail in the water, to splash him lightly and playfully. "Hello, Peter! What brings you down to Mermaid Lagoon?" she asked, knowing fully well what Undine's position with Pan was.

[[Sorry for the suckiness, I have to get ready for school.]]

On this venture to Mermaid Lagoon, there had been no one particular face that Peter had been seeking out. There had been no face that he wished to see about all others, though there were faces that he hoped not to see. AHEM...Undine. But the beaitufl mer-folk were his friends, his allies, and some were his admirers. He was thrilled to see any friendly face. Mermaid Lagoon had a magic to it, and was one of the most note-worthy places in NeverLand. There was something about Mermaid Lagoon and about these wonderful creatures that drew Peter, as well as many other spectators, in. Through the Pan clan and the Pirate warfare, it was nice to be in such surroundings. Admist all the traitors and those stinkin' pirates, it was nice to see a face that welcomed Peter.

With easy concentration, Peter blew into his wooden flute, creating the song that was known as Peter's greeting. It was a song that told of his presense, and asked if admittance was allowed. It was a melody that was lively and happy, one that Peter had heard once though, of course, he could never remember where he had heard it. His mind portrayed the image of a girl, signing and humming the tune, and young full lips mouthing the words that Peter's mind had too forgotten. And when the tune was heard, it was known that The Pan was around. For the mermaids, it was his endearing greeting to them. He sat with ease on the rock, perched high for all to see, and allowing himself the air cushion should he need a fast get away. Peter blew out every note, each sound melodious and cheery. With intention, it was soft, as he knew that any friends about would recognize the song, but the volume had to be kept tdown to wary himself of those that would not be happy to see the man-child.

With a final breath, Peter blew the last note of the short serenade, and opened his eyes--only to have them doused with water.

Peter spat and sputtered, a childish smile on his handsome face. He moved to return his flute to his side, securing it tightly. He lifted his arm to push away the now wet unruly mass of curls, and to dry to water from his eyes. Without looking, he knew who had greeted him, based on the richness of her grand voice. He grinned.

"Naunet, hello there!" He called, waving his hand and wiggling his fingers in a greeting that appeared rather childlike. He stood up, then up again as he rose in the air. He flew slowly to wear Naunet sat, hovering just over her head, then turning himself upside down, sitting Indian style. What did bring Pan to Mermaid Lagoon? Well, of course there was the need for news, but more so there was the need for a friendly face. "A friendly visit, my friend. How is the water today?" Peter, still upside down, reached down to trail his fingertips in the water.

Naunet gave a giggle as Peter spat and sputtered. She watched the grin on his face and she couldn't help but respond to it with her own. Peter was just the type of person who had an infectious smile and laugh. That was probably one of the things Naunet liked about him. You could be totally depressed, but one smile from that boy and you were thinking happy thoughts again. Like now. Naunet's thoughts had been frustrated, upset, and now she was very optimistic, happy, maybe even ecstatic. When he waved at her, she waved her tail at him in response. Her eyes didn't leave him for a moment as he rose up into the air and flew down to her. She wished she could do that. Fly away so she didn't have to deal with her problems. First being Ty, and second being betrothed. Ick. But she couldn't. Because if she went without water for too long she would die. But perhaps that fate wasn't as bad as it sounded.

"Well a friendly visit you have found," she said in a light tone of voice. "And as for the water..." she trailed off, a mischievous grin on her face as she splashed him again lightly. "You tell me." Naunet gave a laugh and laid back on her rock, looking up at Peter. Her brow furrowed as she tried to figure out how anyone other than a pirate could dislike him. He was just so nice and didn't wish harm on anyone -save for pirates. But even then it didn't seem like he wanted them dead (for if he did they'd be long gone by now) because if they were who would he fight with? Naunet was glad that stupid Undine wasn't her queen. Didn't she realize that without Peter, none of them would be here right now? It was Peter who kept Neverland alive, and no one else. Still, the answer to her question wouldn't come, so she'd have to ask him herself, though it was likely he wouldn't know the answer either.

"Peter... how could anyone choose to not like you?"

[[Bleh. Short again. Sorry, I'm trying to catch up on all my posts. I swear my next one will be better!]]

Peter found it just as amusing as Naunet that he had been greeted with a faceful of lagoon water. What a sight he must have made! With is dripping blonde-brown locks, plastered to his forehead and sticking up here and there. His tan flesh was decorated with beads of clear water, water dripping from his chin. His eyes now clear of water, he offered Naunet a goofy grin, one that was slightly lopsided but oh so charming! A smile that Peter was known for, and only the best recieved. His smile...an act so simple, and yet was so powerful. He could brighten any day with a smile, chase the clouds that threatened away and scare it into hiding. On the other hand, his smile made the most notorious of pirates cringe and shiver with disgust. Aye, just as a kiss, a smile was a powerful thing. Wait...what was a kiss again?

"Oh, the cleverness of you!" Peter called. Now this was a greeting! Keep your simple hello's and goodbyes! This was something else! Compared to fun things like this, those greetings were so boring, so shallow! And Peter hated to be bored. He hated boring people. He liked thrills and chills, laughs and giggles. That was the stuff that life was made of!

Peter hung in mid air, upside down looked down at the lovely Naunet. He held his grin, his tone childish and friendly. "Well, and that I am thankful for. Glad that icky Undine-y-kins is no where to be seen". As for the water...well, the answer was given to Peter as he was again greeted with a faceful of water. Peter laughed loudly, and lost his concentration.....falling head first down into the lagoon water.

After a moment, Peter's head sprung out of the water, still bearing that smile. He coughed and sputtered again, laughing. He shook his head, sending beads of water flying towards Naunet. Peter lifted himself slightly in the water, so that he was laying on his back casually. "You know, I've been asking myself that same question! Of course, NeverLand would be a very boring place with few adventures if they didn't, right?" It didn't bother Peter that he had so many enemies. They made for great adventures!
