and she watched lightning strike
strike the earth like the love for him.
that night she saw it fall, she saw it come,
she saw the sky come crashing down.

run after her, this could be just like a movie
go inside, she might be inside crying
drive away, go against fate because i've got
apologies on napkins with all the things to say

i know i'm late, don't wait by the bedside.
i'm not coming back this tme..

Cerulean orbs fluttered open, blinking slightly to let her eyes adjust to the sunlight pouring through the windows. Two fragile hands left their quiet hold on a book she had been reading before, rubbing the bluriness from her eyes as she began to awake fully. Morning had passed into noon and dawn had gone to day and through it all she hadn't even noticed. When she had first left her common room, it was so early not even the birds had begun chirping and now it was a good hour or so past noon. But that was just Alexis, waking up early to hide away in the Library like a scared kitten under the couch.

The Library was a vast place- room taken by shelf after shelf of books both old and new, both knowledgeable or just little fairy tales and romances only she read. The shelves stood tall and thick, mostly blocking out the windows and the sunlight that came with them... except this one little corner. Near the back, not too far from the Restricted Section sat a seventh year rose- sitting directly under one of the only windows still visible under the mess of books. A large, thickly covered maroon book lay open in her lap- on a page that read THE END in letters that showed the very beauty she had admired in the story itself.

She didn't go to Hogsmeade, she didn't sleep in and she didn't over stress herself because of homework like the other students in not only her house- but all of them. Oh no, Ms. Bledel was perfectly comfortable reading away in her little corner down in the Library. People had stopped questioning her about her supposedly 'weird' ways and in all honesty, Alexis had no real problem with being invisible.

She saw herself as a boring, plain old Jane anyways though in reality, Bledel was one of a kind. A girl with the manners and grace most teenage dirtbags her age just didn't have. She was a model student with a bright future ahead... if only she wasn't such a coward. A small yawn escaped her lips as she sat up completely- resting her back against the cool stone wall. Maybe she had pushed it a bit last night with the essay, but at least she had gotten it done. Alex just wasn't expecting to fall asleep here, that was all. Even the book was done with, but she didn't get up, put it back into its shelf and leave like usual. With a somewhat dazed look, she climbed onto the window sill- staring out into the grounds once settled. There was rarely a time where she could just sit down and daydream- rarely a time where she wasn't panicking, cowering or just hiding. It was nice, really, to be able to sit here without a care in the world...

If only life could stand still.

Emmy woke up before anyone else, of course, and sat up in bed. She groaned and groggily looked over at the Muggle clock on her bedside table. 6:30 am, it flashed. She sighed deeply and ran her fingers through her long brown hair. She swung her legs to the other side of the bed and crossed the room to the long mirror on one of the walls. She looked into it and her reflection smiled before saying 'Ha, nice look. Really works for you.' She rolled her eyes in annoyance and reached for her brush, which was on the table next to the mirror. She combed her hair, not really caring what she looked like since she had nobody to impress. She sighed deeply yet again and placed the brush back down gently on the table again. She stared at herself, realizing she was still in her emerald green nightgown.

Going back towards the end of her bed, Emmy searched through her trunk for something to wear. She pulled a black shirt over her head and a pair of jeans since she was a bit cold, even though the window wasn't open, yet knowing the girls in her dorm, it would be in the next hour or so. She made her way to the exit and reached for the doorknob, wrapping her fingers around it and quickly opening the door. She shut the door behind her with a small squeak!, although she wished she had woke at least one girl up. They were ditzes and she hated them. The thought being laughable made her smile. She heard the clock in the common room chime six times as she went down the girls' staircase and a small laugh escaped her lips. She was up at six for no reason. Ah, but I could study, she thought to herself and smiled, nodding. She really did need to study after all.

Tiptoeing wasn't Emmy's best thing but it seemed that God had some sympathy and pity for her as she went back up to the dorm and tiptoed quietly across the dorm. She didn't trip. Since her bed was inconviently at the other side of the room, she had had to tiptoe back to get to it. She grabbed it and quickly and quietly made her way out of the girls' dorm and the Gryffindor Common Room altogether. She slung her school bag over her shoulder as she walked, almost stumbling at the weight of the books. She regained her balance and decided to head to the Library, her original destination but she having forgotten where she was heading. She smirked as she finally reached the Library and headed towards one of the tables, ignoring the raging party that had entered the same time she had. She loved noise and all but not this much. She tossed them a sidelong glare, her vivid brown orbs scanning the area for a moment, seeing nobody. A sigh escaped her pale pink lips before she took a seat at a nearby table and reached into her bag for her books, taking them out and placing them on the desk. She was known as the "Smartest Witch of the Age" to most and she was surprised why. She was bright, well according to everyone she knew, but she could hardly doubt that she was the smartest witch of the age. She shrugged to herself before she opened her Transfiguration book and began to read, not noticing anyone for she was so absorbed in her book.

It would be so easy for her to be recognized, it really would be. Emmy Rossum, so intelligent and smart, but with enough courage to be placed in Gryffindor. And yet there was Alexis Bledel, pure genius yet much too afraid to make a name for herself.

Strange? Yes. Surprising? Not at all.

Alexis was humble, if that's how you wanted to put it. She knew everyone and a little bit about every student, but yet at the same time none knew her. Did she mind? Oh, not really. This was simply her way of life- getting the 'spotlight' would fluster her to the point where she would either a.} break out in tears or b.} faint. Neither was good, not even near healthy.

She let out a small sigh as if her suddenly bright world had gone dreary, gathering herself from the floor and standing to her feet. Shirt crumpled, robes in a heap, one sleeve up with the other still down, skirt wrinkled- god, she felt like a mess that had just gotten out of bed. Moaning and grumbling, she gathered her books from the ground and made her way towards the front, feeling suddenly sick enough to go back to bed.
