lol, no traits. At least with traits, I was able to create a little bit of backstory to my characters before I'd even start playing. Now, all new characters are the same old cookie-cutter clean slate classes.
Also, not being able to kill essential NPCs? What the hell? One of the best parts of the originals was that you could pretty much kill anybody you wanted, except for those who were actually essential, who drove the story. You only saw them about twice near the start of the games anyway, so killing them was pretty fucking difficult. Now, you have to follow a set storyline.
Example: Fallout 2 - Lynette, Vault City. She called my character an idiot, so I thought she was a bitch, and did what any other civilised person would have done - I grabbed my .44 magnum and shot that cunt straight in the fucking head, shot up her guards, and then swaggered over to New Reno to fuck some hookers. It was awesome, and actually allowed me to play the role of a post-apocalyptic Samuel L Jackson. Got a pretty hefty amount of exp for it too. In Fallout 3, however, she would be 'unconscious', despite having a great bloody hole in her face, and then wake up, perfectly happy, to give me a fucking fetch quest to get her some flowers or something equally childish and family friendly, to appeal to the ESRB or some shit.
The drug taking aspect of the game better be good.
Oh and did you guys know? Australia saw what FO3 was all about and now it is BANNED! This could be good - lots of drugs and killing shit. It could also mean they've turned it into some shitty run of the mill gore fest.
Better not fuck it up, Bethesda.
