Hi Pam,
Thank you for taking the trouble to contact me with details about the swarm at Callington, I appreciate that. Sorry I couldn't help but I now have two fully functioning hives and no way of housing a swarm as my Warre hive building is going very slowly!
Hope that someone managed to house them,

Hi Alan, I went and took a look but unfortunately they were bumbles. However, all the same it was an impressive sight. I'm guessing someone must've disturbed/destroyed this colony. Hundreds of bees were over the lawn and drive of the property, dead and dying. Many more were high up in a Eucalyptus tree and frequently falling on to the roof of my car. Purely by accident we found what we considered to be the Queen. What an impressive sight she was, twice the size of the average bumblebee. I tried to take some photos to give a comparision but there was instant aggression between the two bees. I'll see if I can post up a photo later.
