What is your guys opinions of The Giver written by Lois Lowry?

Although it was too short from what i've been used to, I honestly loved The Giver for many reasons.

The Giver was fucking awesome in my opinion.
I found the length satisfactory myself.

One of the few books I've enjoyed that came from my school curriculum.
7th grade, I think it was.

Yeah I though it was pretty good, had to read it in 6th grade and I liked it so much I bought the book, but I agree it could've gone on longer with other things the author could have thought up for that kind of society. Also, it kinda felt like all the other side characters got pushed aside the forgotten as the story went on which is a bit sad since I liked the friend. Overall it was a good "look at this awesome place but it's actually shitty" story.

Well it's not that the place itself is shitty, it's just that the people in the place believes that ignorance is bliss. The people's ignorance itself is what makes it believe that the rules that they have is contributing to their perfect society.

Also I believe that the book actually has 1 or 2 sequels to it.

Not exactly sequels, but books related to the same world and similar themes!

Gathering Blue, and Messenger.

I remember the giver, I liked how you could relate to the main character when you were at that age. They hit the nail near perfect there. Never got around to the "sequels" as they were.

I read this in middle school, and I remember absolutely abhorring it.
Then again, I was all young and silly, and I hated dark tales.
