Here it goes the sequel. Chapter One. ________
Blaire Kenmore sat on the bed her legs crossed in front of her, cell phone in her hand resting against her ear. “So yea this past few weeks have been amazing.” She said with a radiant smile.
“Oh have they?” Courtney Wood’s voice drifted over the phone.
Blaire laughed, she could almost see her new friend’s expression. Courtney Wood’s was the closest thing Blaire had ever had to a best friend. The two had become inseparable at church. Courtney had been there since the first day Blaire stepped foot into the church.
Blaire had never been a church going person, her whole life had centered on getting revenge upon her abusive drunk father. She had shunned God for so many years, and had never expected His love to creep up on her the way it did, and then there was Marcus.
“Speaking of which, how is Marcus?” Courtney laughed.
Blaire blushed she was glad no one could see her. Marcus had official asked her to be his girlfriend last week but before that they both were sure it was what they wanted to do. There was no doubt in Blaire’s mind that this was God’s will. Everything had fallen into place, if it wasn’t God’s will he would have stopped it somehow. “Uh…well I haven’t seen him in fifteen minutes, but I’m sure he’s ok.” Blaire blurted out.
Courtney who was sitting on the edge of her bed began to laugh hard, she clutched her stomach with her other hand but lost her balance, and she fell to the floor. The phone slid under the bed and out of sight. Courtney who was still laughing hurried to retrieve the lost phone. She stuck her hand under the bed and searched amid the numerous dust bunnies, and other unnamable objects. She felt her hands against the hard surface and tugged the phone out. She sat up leaning her back against the bed and regained her composure while lifting the phone to her ear. “Blaire you still there?”
“What was that about?” Blaire asked.
“I fell off the bed and lost the phone.” Courtney admitted sheepishly.
“You did what???” Blaire asked amid a laugh.
“Fell of the bed.” Courtney said laughing herself.
The two girls shared a good laugh. “It was pretty funny.” Courtney said.
“Yea I wish I could have seen you.” Blaire was saying still chuckling.
“I’m glad you didn’t.” Courtney said as she leaned her head against the mattress and shook it slightly. “I am so clumsy.” She said.
Courtney could hear Blaire still laughing over the phone. She smiled and listened, she was glad that Blaire had become a Christian and started to come to her church. Courtney felt a bond to Blaire like no girl she had ever met. She knew from the start that they would be the best of friends. She also knew that within days Blaire and Marcus would be together. “Oh Court, Marcus is here. I got to go. I’ll call you later.” Blaire said.
“Ok tell Marcus hi for me. And tell him to be good.” She said with a chuckle
“Oh don’t worry I’ll keep him in line.” Blaire said chuckling as well.
“Bye Blaire.” Courtney said as she snapped the phone shut and chuckled. She could see the two now they were such a cute couple a lot like she and Jeff were. Jeff Lewis was her boyfriend of three years now, and Courtney was sure she loved him, but for some reason people always kept asking when they would take their relationship up from casual dating.
Jeff Lewis was one year older than Courtney was and he was already away at college. He called her at least once a week and it sounded like he was enjoying his life as a college freshman. Although Courtney didn’t get to see him as much as she would like to, she figured that these next few weeks would be different he was home for Christmas and she would see him tonight. She couldn’t wait to see him, his deep blonde hair, and dark brown eyes were to die for.
She sighed contentedly and then stood up; it was time to get ready for th eparty. Todd Anderson the youth pastor at First Church had scheduled their late night Christmas party. She walked over to her closet and pulled out an out fit she had been saving for a few weeks now. She had bought the outfit four weeks ago and still had not worn it.
She quickly slipped on her clothes and walked into the bathroom to work on her hair. She tossed it up so it looked good, but would be out of her face for most of the evening. She then grabbed her purse and coat; she wouldn’t have to use a thick one, but it was a bit chilly outside.
She quickly hurried towards the door stopping by the door to her father’s study and blowing him a kiss as she passed. “Have a great time.” He called smiling.
Timothy Woods heard the door shut behind his daughter and he knew that she was heading over to the church. He sat there he knew who was going to be there tonight, but there was one person whom he did not want her to see.
He rubbed his brow and looked up to see his lovely wife standing in the door way watching him. “You ok honey?” She asked.
“Not sure.” He said looking up at his wife.
Jaclyn Woods was the love of his life and as far as he was concerned she got more gorgeous every single day. She was tall with long dark brown hair. It was much like his daughters she was so much like her mother. “Not sure, huh?” Jaclyn asked as she took a few steps towards his desk. “Well if you want to talk I’m here.” She said with a smile.
He smiled back at her and nodded. “Thanks.” He watched as she walked out and then turned to his computer and began to type the outline for next week’s sermon.
________
Courtney swung the door open and walked into the large entry there were already a few people here. Alexis was one, although Courtney hadn’t talked to Alexis Dugan that much recently, she knew that Alexis had never been the same since she found out that Marcus and Blaire were dating and Courtney had figured that she would never forgive Blaire for it, but maybe she had.
Courtney watched her she was talking to Cody Collins, and acting as if she was going in for the kill. Courtney felt bad for Cody, but she didn’t dare get in Alexis’ way. She’d almost lost an eye the last time. She waved in Cody’s direction. Cody Collins was the silent type, but no matter where he was he always demanded attention, even without words.
This was the one reason Courtney was sure he would do great in the Army. Cody was leaning for training a few days after New Year’s Day. She watched him and smiled when he waved back. “Hi Courtney.” He said with a bright smile.
Cody didn’t have dimples, but none the less he had an intriguing smile. His hair was jet black and clean cut, and he had deep brown eyes. Courtney smiled back at him, maybe she could some how save him from the grips of the nasty Alexis. “Hey Cody, Alex.” She said nodding to Alexis and taking a step forward to join them.
Courtney fancied herself as a match maker, and she had wired the church youth group till everyone was with whom they should be, well almost everyone. She knew one thing, Cody Collins and Alexis Dugan were not a good match. She stood between them and smiled at them. “How are you guys doing?” She asked.
“Great.” Cody said smiling down at her.
“Fine…”Alexis said coldly with a piercing gaze that make Courtney want to jump.
“Great.” Courtney said grappling for her next words. Then she saw her chance, a blue car drove up and she smiled. “OH look Blaire and Marcus just got here. I’m going to go meet them. You two want to join me?” She asked, she knew that Alexis would say no, even with the distraction of Cody.
“No...I’m fine here.” Alexis said coldly again.
“I’ll go with you.” Cody said with a ready smile.
“Cool,” Courtney said. “We’ll be back Alexis.”
Courtney looked over her shoulder to see Cody following her out and Alexis with an almost green look on her face. When they reached the door Cody grabbed it for her and smiled. “Thanks.” She said as she stepped out.
“No thank you.” He said with a smile at her.
“For what?” She asked as the two walked out towards the blue car.
“For saving me.” He said.
“Oh that was nothing. I know how Alexis can be. I saw the whole thing when she had her eye on Marcus.” Courtney said as they continued to walk along.
Cody chuckled and they both walked along in silence, until they reached the blue car. “Hey Court, Hey Cody.” Marcus said as she opened the door for Blaire.
“Hey Marcus.” Courtney said with a smile.
“You came all this way out to greet me. I feel so special.” Blaire said with a wink.
“Yea that and I was saving Cody from Alexis.” She said with a laugh.
“Yes Courtney came out of no where and swept me out of the evil Alexis’ grip.” Cody said dramatically.
Courtney laughed and shook her head. “It wasn’t like that.”
Marcus laughed and placed his arm around Blaire’s waist. “You better be careful Cody, Blaire saved me from Alexis once now we are dating.” He said with a wink at Blaire.
Courtney chuckled uncomfortably and looked up at Cody. He to was chuckling and that made her feel a bit better. “Let’s get inside.” She finally said as she fell into step beside Blaire.
The group walked back into the church. Courtney smiled and chatted with her friends for the few minutes while she waited. Cody, Marcus and Blaire stayed with her until she saw a familiar black car. “Oh he’s here.” She said excitedly. She quickly ran out the front door to greet Jeff.
“Who’s here?” Blaire asked.
“Courtney’s boyfriend.” Cody said as he watched her run out the door.
“Oh what’s his name?” Blaire asked as she watched as well.
“Jeffery Lewis.” Marcus offered.
“Oh I see.” Blaire said.
____________
“Hey baby.” Jeff said as he held out his arms to her.
“Jeff I missed you.” Courtney said hugging him tight.
“Yea I missed you too.” He said as they walked back into the church.
Courtney smiled at the group and introduced Jeff to Blaire. “Hey Marcus, Cody.” He said after exchanging pleasantries with Blaire.
“Hello Jeff.” Marcus said with a slight warm smile.
“Jeff.” Cody said with as little disdain as he could muster.
Courtney looked at the group with a smile. When Pastor Todd called them all in, she smiled and readily grabbed Jeff’s arm pulling him into the sanctuary. The night started out with a few movies projected with the projector. The lights were all out and Courtney brought her legs up underneath her and rested her head against Jeff’s shoulder.
Blaire sighed and sat next to Marcus watching someone. There was something about him that just didn’t click but what did she know she had only known him a short while. She sat there and felt Marcus’ hand grab hers. She smiled and intertwined her fingers with his.
Courtney looked up as Jeff’s phone began to vibrate. He kissed her forehead and whispered. “I’ll be back.”
“Ok…” Courtney said as she watched him go. She watched him open his phone and begin to start talking.

Chapter 2 Can't believe I have only posted two chapters. Crazy. __________
“Who was that?” Courtney asked as he came and sat down beside her.
“Oh just a friend.” He said placing his arm around her shoulder.
“From SNU?” She asked.
“Yea.” He said.
“Will I get to meet your friends eventually?” She asked with a smile.
“Yea. Sure I guess.” He said shrugging.
“Cool.” She said with a smile.
The room was silent except for the sounds made by the movie they were watching. Courtney looked down the row to see Cody sitting with his arms crossed. Alexis had once again positioned herself beside the guy she had her eyes on and Cody didn’t seem to be enjoying sitting by her.
She smiled sympathetically at him and then leaned back to sit beside Jeff. She slowly closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. She slept for the duration of the movie, and only awoke after everyone had left the sanctuary or so she thought.
Cody sat a few feet away still stuck talking to Alexis. She didn’t seem to notice that Courtney was awake. Courtney watched out of the corner of her eye. “Morning Sleepy Head.” Came a voice.
Courtney opened her eyes all the way to see Cody smiling at her. She looked up at the clock. “Wow it is morning.” The clock on the wall said 12:05.
“Yea any earlier and I would have had to say goodnight.” He said winking at her.
She sat up all the way and stretched. “Yea…” She said quietly. “When did the movie end?” She asked.
“Like an hour ago.” Alexis said coldly.
“Wow I’ve been sleeping all this time.” She asked.
“Yep.” Cody said with a smile at her.
She shook her head, when she saw Blaire walking in, with Marcus right behind her. “Hey sleeping beauty.” Blaire called as she came to sit down by her friend.
Courtney chuckled. “I must have been really tired.”
“Yea you looked cute too.” Jeff said as he snuck up and kissed her on the forehead.
Courtney laughed at him and lifted her hand to touch his cheek. He was looking upside down at her she had to admit he looked funny but still cute. She leaned forward and kissed him.
“Oh wasn’t expecting that.” He said kissing her again.
Jeff chuckled and leaped over the back of the seats to sit beside her. Courtney looked down when he did that. She didn’t like when he did that. Her parents had taught her about showing reverence when in the sanctuary. Jeffery however had never been taught this. He had not been brought up in the church like Courtney had.
Jeff’s family joined the church four years ago, there was an instant connection between them from the start but Courtney held back, because Jeff was not a Christian. Jeff asked her out several times over the next few months, but time after time Courtney turned him down even though she wished she didn’t want to.
When it had been close to a year Jeff went to the alter one Sunday much to Courtney’s joy. The next time he asked her to go out with him, she readily accepted the invitation. When they had been dating for a month Jeff made it official and asked her to be his girlfriend.
The rest as people say is history they dated for two years before Jeff went away to college, for a small while Courtney was afraid that since he was going to college he would want to break up, but he had not alluded to it.
So here they were three years later still as close as the first year. Courtney sat there thinking about it but it still bothered her how he had jumped over the chair like that. She looked up and figured that Cody, Marcus and Blaire were probably thinking the same thing. Cody and Marcus had been brought up in the church just as Courtney had, they all had parents that had instilled that same reverence in them. And although Blaire had just recently become a believer, she too had been raised in the church by her Godly mother Olivia.
She looked at Marcus and saw that look, which she had been expecting. He hadn’t liked what Jeff had done. She then looked at Cody and saw the same look, she also saw them same look in Blaire’s eyes. She swallowed hard but decided to say nothing to Jeff about it. Cody however did say something.
“Why don’t you walk around like a normal person?” He asked, when Courtney looked up she could see he was more than not pleased. She shot him a pleading look begging him not to get to upset at Jeff.
“Normal?” Jeff asked looking at Cody like he had just stepped off of a space ship. “Why would you want to be normal when you can be extraordinary like me. Ordinary people didn’t make this world what it is today.” Jeff said as he scooted down in his chair.
Cody was about to say something then he caught Courtney’s pleading gaze, and stopped himself. No need to get her all worked up. He got up and quietly excused himself before walking out the sanctuary doors and into the dark foyer. He stood there for a long moment calming himself.
Cody was normally a very quiet guy who kept his thoughts to himself, but Jeff pushed him over the limit. He had watched the guy for four years now, as he had wooed Courtney into liking him. Somehow he didn’t think that Jeff deserved anyone of Courtney’s type. He wasn’t sure that anyone in this world deserved her.
He walked toward the front doors and stared out trying to calm his rising anger. How could Courtney pick such a guy? He was totally wrong for her. Not her type at all. Cody turned when he heard the door to the sanctuary open and half expected to see Marcus or Alexis, but instead he saw Courtney. She took a few steps towards him and stopped. “Are you ok?” She asked.
“Yea.” He said not taking a step closer.
Courtney stood there shrouded in darkness. “Thanks for not arguing with Jeff.” She said taking one step closer.
She was in the dim light and Jeff had to say it made her look great. “Its alright.” Cody said hoping she could not see his expression.
She stood there for a long moment and watched him. “Cody are you sure you are alright. You’ve seemed kind of quiet tonight.” She said.
“I…uh…” He swallowed hard and looked down. “I’ve just got a lot on my mind.” He said.
“You want to talk about it?” Courtney asked him.
“Aw it’s nothing really just things I would like to do before I leave.” He said, almost wishing he could tell her what the first thing on his list was.
She smiled at him. Courtney had a smile that would light up her entire face and force you to smile back. “Got a lot on that list?” She asked.
Cody smiled back. “Well not to much but some I am pretty sure I won’t be able to complete.” He said thinking of number one.
“Oh really. Well that has got to stink.” She said.
“Oh you have no clue how much it does.” Cody said.
Courtney stared at him for a moment before biting her lip. “Well I just wanted to make sure you were alright and to say thank you.”
“Not a problem, and thanks for checking up on me.” Cody said.
Courtney smiled and stopped by the swinging door to the sanctuary before going back in.
Cody was left out in the dark, staring at the door she had just walked through. “Smooth Cody.” He mumbled to himself.
Courtney stood there on the other side of the door watching the group in the back row. She wasn’t ready for the bump she got, the door ran into her and she jumped turning to face Cody who had just come in. She looked up at him an embarrassed look on her face.
“Sorry.” She said.
“It’s alright. Sorry I ran into you.” Cody said staring down at her.
“That’s fine.” She said quietly searching for a way out.
“Courtney!” Blaire called.
“Uh Blaire’s calling me.” Courtney said awkwardly stating the obvious.
“Oh yea.” Cody said as he watched her back up.
Courtney backed up and then hurried over to Blaire. “Courtney you ready to go?” She asked.
“Yea. I’m ready.” She said looking over her shoulder at Cody who was standing by the door watching her.
“Well then let’s go.” Blaire said with a laugh.
“Alright.” Courtney said facing her.
“Hey let me walk you girls over to the house.” Marcus said with a smile.
“Oh that would be great.” Blaire said kissing him on the cheek.
Courtney smiled as Jeff came up beside her. “I’m going to head out.” Jeff said.
Courtney was a little disappointed that he did not want to walk her home like Marcus had offered but she hid it. “Call me tonight?” She asked.
“Yea I will.” He said.
“Alright.” She said kissing him. “See you later then.”
Courtney watched as Jeff walked out of the front doors and to his car. “I’ll walk you over if you like.” Cody said.
“You didn’t see that did you?” She asked.
“Yea I saw it. I saw everything.” He said emphasizing that he saw her expression.
Courtney looked up at him sadly then asked. “Would you mind walking over with us?”
“Not at all. Let me get your coat.” He said within a few minutes he was back with her coat. He helped her put it on and opened the front door.
“Oh Cody!!” Courtney cringed when she heard the voice.
Cody stopped and turned to see Alexis running towards him. “Cody could you walk me out to my car? I don’t want to go out there alone.”
Cody wanted to scream, he looked at Courtney. He could tell she was really disappointed about Jeff. “Uh…Alexis….I….” He began to say until he felt Courtney’s hand on his arm. He turned to look at her.
“Go ahead. I’ll walk with Blaire and Marcus.”
“But…” Cody said.
“No its fine. Take her. Thanks anyway Cody.” She said walking out the door and running to catch up with Blaire and Marcus.
Cody grimaced as he watched her, but then felt another hand on his arm. Alexis was staring at him with a smile on her face. He walked over and grabbed her coat to help her and then opened the door to let her out.
He looked across the parking lot to see Courtney, Blaire and Marcus walking towards Courtney’s house, he sighed and walked Alexis to her car.

HAHA oh you do Brookie. Who said this was a romance. Oh opps. Its in the romance forum. Duh. __________ Chapter 3 __________ She jumped as a cell phone went off. “Is that yours?” She asked Blaire?
“No it’s yours.” Blaire said from her spot on the bed.
Courtney reached for her cell phone and flipped it open. “Hello?” She asked.
“Hey.” Jeff’s voice was clear over the phone.
“Hey, did you get home alright?” Courtney asked with a smile.
“Yea. Did you?” He asked.
“Yes thanks for asking.” She said with a smile.
There was a silence for a few minutes, before she heard him speak. “Oh I have a beep in. One second.”
“Alright. I can wait.” She said.
A minute later he came back. “Court?” He asked.
“Yea I’m still here.” She said as Blaire’s phone rang.
“I have to take this call and its going to be a while.” He said.
“Oh….” Courtney said. “Will you call me back before you go to bed?” She asked.
“Well it might be a bit late.” Jeff said. “I don’t want to wake you up. I promise to call you tomorrow.”
“Oh ok…” Courtney said. “I guess I’ll talk to you tomorrow then.” She said.
“Alright bye.” Jeff said and then hung up the phone.
Courtney let the phone drop to her bed and listened as Blaire talked to Marcus. How she envied what they had. She and Jeff had been dating for so much longer but they were nothing like Marcus and Blaire. She sat there listening wishing that somehow she and Jeff could eventually be like them. She sat there as Blaire proceeded to hang up.
“I love you too.” She said as she traced the outline of the design on Courtney’s bed.
I love you? Courtney blinked; Jeff had never once said he loved her. She swallowed hard and fought back the pain that thought brought. She sat there waiting for Blaire to get off the phone, when Blaire did get off she smiled at Courtney and sighed. Courtney looked back down. “Man I envy you Blaire.” She said grabbing a pillow.
“Hmmm?” Blaire asked confused.
“What you have with Marcus.” She said quietly.
“But you have Jeff.” Blaire said confused.
“Yea but did you notice he didn’t offer to walk me home tonight, and when he hung up he never said he loved me. You and Marcus have something special I just wish Jeff and I were like you two.” Courtney said looking down.
“Well I wish I could tell you how it happened between Marcus and m, but I am still not sure.” Blaire said.
Courtney laughed and shook her head. “Just promise me you’ll never take him for granted.”
“Oh I can promise you that.” Blaire joked with a smile.
“Good.” Courtney said.
“Well I’m tired. I’m going to go to sleep.” Blaire said crawling under the covers.
“Alright see you in the morning.” Courtney said. Soon Courtney could hear Blaire’s slowed breathing; she could tell Blaire was asleep. She lay there for a long while, she couldn’t get to sleep. She kept thinking about tonight. She wished that Jeff had even noticed how she was feeling.
She sighed and stared at the wall, a tear escaped her eye as she began to cry. She jumped when her cell phone went off. She looked at the number, it wasn’t Jeff. She debated on not answering it, but did anyway. “Hello.” She said as she dried away the tears.
“Courtney?” Came the voice over the line.
“Yes? Who is this?” She asked trying to sound as upbeat as possible considering her day. She had gone into it excited to see her boyfriend and come out realizing they were lacking something.
“Its Cody.” He said.
“Oh hi Cody, I didn’t know you had my number.” She said still staring at the wall.
“Yea I got it a while ago.” He said then paused. “I wanted to make sure you were alright.”
Courtney’s eyes blurred, but she said. “Why would you ask that?”
“Because you seemed really down tonight.” He said plainly.
“I’ll be alright.” She said as the tears began to trickle down her cheeks.
“You don’t sound alright.” Cody said.
“Man you don’t miss a thing do you?” She said drying the tears.
“I try not to. It wouldn’t be good if I missed something while I was fighting now would it.” He said.
“No…” Courtney said then was silent.
“You want to talk about it?” Cody asked.
Courtney thought for a moment, and then said. “Yes but not now.”
“Alright. If you ever need me, don’t hesitate to call me.” Cody said. “You got it?”
“Yes…thank you Cody.” Courtney said.
“Not a problem. I guess I’ll see you Sunday.” He asked.
“Unless you decide to not come to church.” She joked.
“Well unless I get extremely sick, you’ll see me then.” Cody said jokingly.
“Ok.” She said, then she was silent again.
“I also wanted to apologize for tonight.” He said.
“Why?” Courtney asked.
“Well first for yelling at Jeff like I did. It wasn’t my place.” Cody said.
“Apology accepted. To be honest I didn’t like what he did either.” Courtney admitted.
“I noticed I could see it all over your face.” He said.
Courtney blinked was she really that easy to read. “What was the second thing?” She asked.
“I wanted to say sorry for deserting you.” He said.
“Deserting me?’ She echoed.
“When I told you I would walk you home.” He said.
“Oh well that was not your fault.” She said.
“Well maybe it was.” He said.
“How could it be your fault?” Courtney asked.
“I don’t know, but it seems Alexis has been hanging around me a lot more recently.” Cody said.
Courtney could tell by his voice that that made him a bit nervous. “She likes you.” She said.
“Yea but I don’t like her, I like….someone else.” He said.
“Oh really?” Courtney asked. “Who is she?”
“I can’t tell you that.” Cody said.
“Oh really is she pretty?” Courtney asked with a smile.
“Gorgeous.” Cody said plainly.
“Oh does she go to our church?” Courtney was smiling by this time.
“Yea, she does.” Cody said.
“Oh…let’s see what other questions I can ask you about her. Do I know her?” Courtney asked.
“Oh yea you know her.” Cody said.
“Is she single?” Courtney asked.
“Well not at the moment.” Cody said.
“Oh….” Courtney said sitting up. She looked over at her friend who was sleeping comfortably.
“It’s not Blaire is it?” She asked.
“No…” Cody said with a slight chuckle. “Marcus is my best friend. I would never do that to him.”
“Ok you had me worried.” Courtney said. She heard Cody laugh, and then she grimaced. “Its not funny.”
“Yea it is.” He said.
“Whatever.” She said shaking her head. “Is it Diane?” She asked.
“Why would I tell you who it is?” He asked.
“It is Diane.” Courtney said smiling.
“Believe what you like.” Cody said.
Courtney laughed and said. “You guys would make a cute couple. We will have to get her away from Jake.”
Cody sounded shocked. “Courtney Woods don’t you dare.”
“Why?” She asked.
“Because, Diane is not the one I like.” He admitted.
“Well who is?” Courtney asked.
“I’m not going to tell you.” Cody said.
“Why?” Courtney asked again.
“Because I don’t want you breaking up any couples on my account.” He said.
“Fine, be that way Cody. I’ll find out eventually.” She said.
“Maybe you will, maybe you won’t whose to say?” Cody said.
“You’re getting on my nerves.” Courtney said.
“Sorry, well I have to go. Have a good night Court.” Cody said. “Sweet dreams.”
“Alright Cody good night.” She said.

Wow I can't believe this. I've only posted three chapters. Sorry bout that guys. Here's chapter four. ____________________
Saturday morning Courtney drove along towards Jeff’s house. She was going to surprise him, she hadn’t seen him in a few days, and he had forgotten to call her. She pulled up into the driveway and knocked on the door of the Lewis’ home. Mr. Lewis a tall man in his early forty’s came to the door with a smile. “Oh well Hello Courtney.” He said with a smile.
“Is Jeff home?” She asked.
“Yes he is. He’s in the family room with a college friend of his that dropped by this morning. You want me to tell him you are here.” Mr. Lewis asked.
“Uh no…I’ll just surprise him.” Courtney said with a smile. Mr. Lewis let her go on through and she passed him with a smile. She walked back to the family room and peeked around the corner, what she saw shattered her heart. There was Jeff sitting on the couch, but his friend from college was a girl, and she wasn’t just chatting with him, she was on his lap kissing him, and from the look of things Jeff was kissing back. “Jeff?” She asked frantically.
Jeff jumped and the girl in his arms did too, but she just looked at Courtney like someone who had just trespassed on her territory. Jeff stared at her in shock. Courtney’s eyes blurred this hurt and cut deep. She stared at him through her blurred eyes and then asked. “Who is this.” She was getting angry.
“Uh this is Sandra. Sandra this is Courtney.” He said making an awkward introduction.
“Oh so this is the little girlfriend I’ve heard so much about. The pure little angel, who never lets you have any fun. Somehow I thought her to be prettier if you put up with her Jeff.” Sandra said in a cool voice.
Courtney just stared at them both her anger growing. “Jeff how could you?” She asked shaking her head.
Jeff stared at her, when he gave no answer Courtney stared coldly at him. “We’re through I don’t ever want to see you again.” She rushed out of the room and past a confused Mr. Lewis. She didn’t stop until she was in her car. She pulled out of the driveway and started to cry, she could barely see the road, but she had to get out of there. She drove some distance down the road and pulled over to the side of the road.
She rested her hands on the steering wheel and then her head on her hands, and started to cry hard. This was why he had never called her; this was why he never said he loved her. She was just a distraction for while he was home. She was being used and that made her angry. The anger and the hurt all collided and she couldn’t stand it. She just sat there, what else was there to do. She didn’t know, she slowly pulled out into the road, and drove home, the whole way she was crying and she couldn’t stop it.
She rushed into the house and unknowingly ran straight into her father’s arms. “Courtney? What’s wrong?” He asked.
“It’s Jeff. I…I….He…He was cheating on me, and I just broke up with him.” She finally spit out.
Pastor Timothy Woods hugged his daughter tight trying to take away some of the pain. “Oh baby.” He said rubbing her back reassuringly.
“What’s going on?” Jaclyn asked with a distraught look on her face.
“Courtney just broke up with Jeff.” He said quietly.
“Oh sweetheart.” Jaclyn said taking her daughter into a protective hug. “I’m so sorry.”
“I walked in and there was another girl in his arms. Mom it hurts so much.” Courtney said amidst the tears.
“I know sweetie.” Jaclyn said hugging her tight.
The three stood there in a tight hug for a long while, Courtney crying softly all the while. “I was beginning to think something was wrong, but I never suspected that.” Courtney said.
“I know, no one would.” Timothy said.
“I just wish I hadn’t wasted three years of my life on him.” She said the anger shining through again.
“Its ok baby. Don’t worry. There’s a better boy out there, God has him waiting. Just wait for his timing.” Tim said.
“I know, I was just beginning to think that maybe Jeff was the one.” Courtney said.
“I know, it’s been three years of course you were.” Jaclyn said to her daughter.
“I just want to erase it all from my mind.” Courtney said crying harder.
“I know baby.” Tim said.
Courtney pushed away and looked up at them. “I’m going to go up to my room.”
“Alright.” Jaclyn said as she watched her daughter walk up the stairs still crying.
Tim took his wife in his arm as they watched her. “It breaks my heart to see her this way.”
“Mine too.” Jaclyn said.
“But somehow I feel better, knowing that she is not dating him anymore. There was something about him I did not like.” Tim said.
“Yes I always felt something when I thought of the two of them.” She said.
“Me too.” He said staring at the vacant stairwell.
“Tomorrow is going to be hard.” She said.
“Why?” He asked her.
“Because, chances are he will be there.” Jaclyn said.
“Oh yes, but then again, Courtney has plenty of friends to entertain her.” Tim said hopefully.
“Let’s hope its enough.” Jaclyn said.
“Yea…” Tim said.
__________
Courtney threw herself onto her bed, she wasn’t sure what to do, she lay there crying harder than before. She sniffed and tried to dry the tears but to no avail. She wanted to erase all memories of him, she stood up and reached for her cell phone. Quickly she went through and deleted all pictures of him on her phone. With each picture she cried more each with so many memories. She then went through and deleted all his text messages, then at last his number.
She then walked around the room and removed all pictures she had off him, and dumped them into a box, along with the other stuff he had bought her. When that was all done she carried the box downstairs and handed it to her Dad. “Can you get rid of this for me?” She asked. “I don’t think I can do it myself.” She said.
“Yes I will.” He said taking the box from her hands and walking towards the front door.
Courtney walked up the stairs again and into her bed room, where she reached for her cell phone. She quickly looked through her list of contacts. She needed someone to talk to, Cody’s offer to talk when she needed it loomed in her mind. She hit send and listened as the phone rang.
“Hello?” Cody said.
“Hi Cody.” She said quietly.
“Courtney?” He asked.
“Yea….” She said quietly.
“Are you alright?” He asked.
“No…” She said.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“I…” She was about to tell him, but then decided calling him was a mistake. “No wait. I shouldn’t have called. I’ll talk to you later.” She said and proceeded to hang up.
“No Courtney don’t do that to me.” He called but he was to late she had already hung up.
He slammed his hand against the desk and shoved his chair back. He grabbed his keys and rushed down the stairs to the garage. All the way he was calling Courtney’s number, but she wouldn’t answer.
“Courtney,” He said as her answering machine came on. “Please answer me. If you don’t I’m coming over there.” He said and hung up.
Courtney laid on the bed listening as the phone rang over and over, it was Cody. When he left a message she flipped open the phone and listened to it. She debated on answering the phone and the next time he called she did.
“Hello.” She said shakily.
“COURTNEY!!!” He said. “Why did you hang up on me?” He asked.
“I’m sorry Cody I shouldn’t have called you.” She said.
“No I’m glad you called me. I told you that if you ever needed me call.” Cody said.
“I know but this isn’t your problem.” Courtney said as she began to cry.
“Well I will make it my problem. Now what’s going on?” He asked.
“I just broke up with Jeff. I caught him cheating on me.” Courtney said, and then she heard him mumble something about Jeff, but she couldn’t hear his words. “Cody are you there?”
“Yea Court. I’m here.” He said.
“See its not your problem, and you don’t need to come over, plain and simple.” She said.
“Courtney don’t do that.” Cody said.
“Do what?” She asked.
“Push me away I just want to help.” Cody said.
“I know Cody.” She said. “But I don’t want to make you feel like you have to help me.”
“I want to help you. That’s what friends do.” Cody said.
Courtney was silent for a long time before she heard him ask if he could still come over. “Alright you can come over.”
“Alright I’ll be over in a few minutes.” Cody said.
“Cody?” Courtney asked.
“Yea?” He replied.
“Thank you.” She said quietly.
“Its ok Court.” He said. “I’ll see you in five minutes.”
“Alright.” She said. “Bye.”
“Bye.” He said then hang up.
Courtney sat there the phone still in her hands trying to stop crying before Cody got there, she didn’t want to look like such a mess for him. She also wasn’t sure if he was one of those kind of guys who could handle crying.
She dried the tears and walked towards the door just as she saw Cody’s car pull up in the driveway. She walked down the stairs and opened the front door. She saw him stepping out of his car, and that’s when he spotted her.
She slowly walked out of the house and closed the door behind her, walking slowly to go meet him

...CHAPTER FIVE... I finally got going on this story. ________________ He watched her as she walked toward him, he wanted to give Jeff a punch in the nose for doing that to her. He took a few steps closer and hugged her. Courtney hugged him back trying to bite back the tears but it wasn’t going to happen.
Cody lifted her chin barely and wiped a tear away from her cheek. He let her go and said. “Court I’m sorry.”
“I guess it’s for the best.” Courtney said.
“Maybe it is, but right now that’s not going to help much.” Cody said.
“No it doesn’t.” She said lifting her hand to her face and drying a tear.
“Don’t worry some how you’ll get through this.” He said.
“Yea I just wish I already was.” She said.
“I know it’s hard. It’s really hard to love someone and they not know how you feel, but I also know rejection is even worse.” Cody said.
“Were you talking about the girl you like?” She asked.
“Yes…” He said.
“Well all I can say is she must be blind, but if she ever wakes up, she’ll be one lucky girl.” Courtney said with a smile.
“I hope she does one day.” He said.
“Why won’t you tell me?” She asked getting a momentary smile.
“Because I know you. You’ll flip and make her fall in love with me.” Cody said with a laugh as he dried another tear from her cheek.
“Isn’t that what you want though?” She asked.
“Yes, but I would rather she fall in love with me in her own time, and way.” He said.
“Fine…” She said with a smile at him. “Will you promise me you’ll tell her and me before you leave.”
“If she’s ready I’ll tell her.” He said with a smile. “Now let’s go for a drive.” He said walking over and opening the door for her.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“I don’t know yet.” He said with a laugh.
“Well let me go get my coat and purse.” She said. “You want to come in.” She asked.
“Sure I’ll come in.” He said, as he followed her up the steps and into the house.
She ran upstairs to retrieve her purse and then grabbed her coat. When she got downstairs she went to put it on. “Here let me help.” Cody said. He slipped her coat on and then opened the door for her.
“Thanks,” She said as they walked out to the car. He opened the door and let her get in before shutting it again.
He walked around the front of the car and got in. “Now where do you want to go?” He asked.
“I don’t care.” She said. “I just want to go somewhere I don’t have to think of Jeff.” She said with a sigh.
“Alright how about we go to Dairy Queen, I’ll call Marcus and have him and Blaire join us. Sound good?” He asked.
“Sounds great.” Courtney said.
Cody reached for his phone and dialed Marcus. When Marcus picked up, he asked him if he wanted to do it, explaining that Courtney needed some cheering up after breaking up with Jeff. Marcus loved the idea and said he and Blaire would meet them there in a few minutes. “He said they would be there soon.” Cody said shutting his phone.
“Alright.” Courtney said.
“Do you not want to do this?” He asked.
“I do but I don’t. Just don’t think ill of me, if I’m not in to good of a mood.” Courtney said.
“Don’t worry, we’ll get some ice cream in ya to help sooth the wound.” He said.
She chuckled at that, and shook her head. “Smart man.”
“I try to be.” He said. She smiled and leaned her head against the head rest. “Get a little rest before we get there. You’ll be in a better mood.” He said.
“Alright.” She said pushing her chair back so she could partially lie down. She closed her eyes partially but still watched him for a few more seconds, before drifting off to sleep.
“Wake up sleepy head.” She opened her eyes and stretched when she heard Cody’s voice. “Feel better?” He asked.
“Much, thanks.” She said.
“You ready to go inside?” He asked.
She sat there bringing her chair up. She then looked at him and said. “I guess so.” She pulled the mirror down and looked at her self. “I look like something the cat dragged in.” She said pulling her hair out of the pony tail and letting it hang for a second.
“Leave it down.” He said quietly.
“Hmmm???” She asked.
“Leave your hair down.” He said.
“Why?” She asked.
“Its beautiful.” He said plainly.
She blushed slightly and looked down. “Ok.” She said fluffing it a bit, and placing the band on her wrist. “Alright I’m ready.”
Cody jumped out and ran around to open the door for her. “Thanks.” She said with a smile.
“Not a problem.” He said as he held out his hand to help her out.
She took his hand and stepped out, into the sun. It felt good and she smiled. The two walked in and ordered, Cody picked up the tab much to Courtney’s protests. Then they went to sit by Blaire and Marcus who had already been there for a few minutes.
Blaire got up and gave Courtney a hug. “You alright babe?” She asked.
“I will be.” Courtney said.
Blaire smiled at her and let her sit down before sliding back into the booth; Marcus sat down beside her and placed his arm on the back of the chair. Cody sat down by Courtney and smiled encouragingly at her. Finally after a few moments they began to start a conversation and for those few moments Courtney was able to forget about Jeff. It felt good to smile, laugh and be with her friends. She smiled at Cody, if he hadn’t stepped in she would still be at home crying on her bed.
They ate their ice cream and talked for over an hour. Finally Marcus admitted that he and Blaire had to get home, the friends parted ways and Cody walked with Courtney out to his car. He opened the door for her and smiled.
She slid in and waited for him to get into the car. When he did she smiled at him and said. “Thank you Cody.”
“For what?” He asked.
“Rescuing me.” She said.
“I’m just returning the favor. You rescued me from Alexis, the least I can do is save you from your misery.” He said.
“Well you did.” She said with a smile.
“Well I’m glad.” He said with a wide smile.
She looked over and caught him staring at her but she thought nothing of it. They were the only two in the car. She looked down and then back up at him. Her heart was beginning to pound, and her head was spinning. She felt like he could see everything about her, with his heavy gaze. It scared her, somehow he had been almost been reading her thoughts these past few days. Was she as easy to read as he was making her out to be?
She sat there not wanting to look at him, not wanting him to read something in her, even though she didn’t even know if there was anything. She continued to divert her gaze to her lap, when she felt his hand under her chin. She looked at him and her body tingled. What was the deal? She hadn’t been this way this afternoon or yesterday. She swallowed hard, and looked at him.
“Are you alright?” He asked her.
“I don’t know. I think I need to get home and take a nap. I don’t feel good.” She said.
“To much ice cream?” He asked with a smile.
“Maybe. I hope its just that.” She said.
“Well let’s get you home.” He said as he pulled out of the parking lot.
The ride home was quiet and Courtney was glad, she was beginning to settle down. What was that? Was she truly sick, it was the weirdest feeling she had ever had. She looked back up at Cody who looked back at her with a worried expression when they reached the house. “Are you going to be ok?” He asked.
“I hope so.” She said.
“Alright. Promise to call me if you need something and this time don’t hang up on me.” He said.
“Alright I promise.” She said.
“Good,” He said getting out and walking around to open her door.
She reached for his hand and once again that tingling sensation pricked through her. She swallowed hard and stepped out of the car. She accidentally tripped over the side and could feel herself falling to the ground. “Wow.” Cody said as he caught her.
She stood there in his arms, her heart pounding hard again, and her stomach flipping over and over. She closed her eyes and tried to will herself to feel better. “I better get upstairs.” She said.
“Alright.” Cody said, but he didn’t let her go until she pushed back.
She swallowed hard and smiled shakily at him. “Thanks again Cody.”
“That’s fine. I’ll see you tomorrow right?” He asked.
“If whatever this is wears off.” She said.
“Alright, get feeling better.” He said with a smile.
“I’ll try.” She said backing up.
When she walked into the house, she climbed up the stairs and flung herself onto the bed. “What is the deal, Courtney?” She asked herself.
Whatever this sickness was, she hoped it was gone soon. She lay there her eyes closed and fell soundly asleep.
She awoke several hours later, the sun was down and she got changed before crawling under the blankets to fall asleep for the night. She was ready for that, and then she would see everyone tomorrow.
She closed her eyes and slowly drifted of to sleep glad that the sickness or whatever it was was gone.
