The "secret" is officially out

Now that the 2002 MMFC luncheon is history, the Yankees fans who attended now know what we've known all along -- that Mike is warm, friendly, funny, gracious, adorable, and a darn nice guy.

Some of the Yankees fans I've talked to about the event (several were there, several were not) have stated that they wish some of the other Yankees players would have similar events for their fans. How ironic that it is Mike -- thought to be aloof and unfriendly -- who has this wonderful event for his fans each year. I certainly can't imagine Roger Clemens ever doing anything like that for his fans!

Even though it's supposed to be a luncheon for Mike, it really is a luncheon for us. He's the one who does most of the work; signing autographs, answering questions, posing for pictures handing out prizes and seems to get just as much out of it as we do. I'm sure the fans from NY will spread the word and I hope it gets back to the idiots who went out of their way to portray him as Darth Vader. The Force is definitely with Mike!

He'd have to do a lot more than pay me to come to his Luncheon:

1. Must be on a balmy beach preferably Hawaii
2. All transportation & accomodations paid in full
3. Some really hunky guys so we won't get sick looking at him
4. Headphones so we can drown out his voice

Oops, this was supposed to be about Mike right? Sorry!

Just to show you how pathetic I am when it comes to Mikey, I had major surgery back in 1998 on the same day he was making his first start after being on the DL from the Alomar line drive. When I finally did wake up, around 7pm, the doctor said I kept asking, "How did Mike do?". I don't remember any of it!

I hadn't thought about the "focused" angle to that. Thanks, Lady J. Maybe I should have just asked them to hold up a poster of Mike instead of using anesthesia.
