The Demon Book o' Rules
Alrighty then, in order to keep your place in this Hellish land, I suggest you follow these guidelines. They are basically just the usual forum thing, but please read them anyway and make sure you understand. Not knowing the rules won't be tolerated as an excuse for breaking them, I'm afraid.
The rules may seem strict, but they are here to protect the users of Moonlight Netherworld, and to keep the forum rolling with entertaining posts. The most important thing here is for the users to have fun, right? 01. Avatars and Signature Banners We are willing to accommodate avatars that are static or animated; these should be no larger then 130W x 130H (pixels) and a total file size of 20Kbytes. Image signatures should be a single static image and no larger then 400W x 300H (pixels) and a total file size of 50Kbytes. Text based signatures should consist of no more then four lines and must conform to the forums standards type face and size. Any avatar or signature that infringes these rules will be deleted by an admin with no prior warning. You won't be in any trouble for breaking this rule, but will simply be messaged to let you know it has been removed. Another note about avatars and signatures is that you CANNOT use inappropriate images for their content. This includes pornography, gore, and just plain disgusting things. This is a forum that's open to all ages and all strengths of mind including frail ones that may not be able to tolerate surfing on Moonlight Netherworld if they are bombarded with offensive imagery and/or words. If your avatar or signature offends even one person, you know it can't be used. 02. Post Something, Not Nothing When you are about to post or reply to a thread, ask yourself whether what you are going to say will add to the conversation/topic. A one word statement saying that you're bored does not count as a constructive post, unless in an appropriate thread (such as a general chat thread). Neither do random degenerations of threads into nonsensical posts. Please keep that in mind when you post. 03. Bump ‘n Grind The act of ‘bumping’ an old discussion thread to the top of the forum by posting the word ‘bump’ or any variation thereof is a no-no. If no-one is discussing a topic then let it die, unless you have something important to add to it, in which case you may post or even double post (depending on whom the last poster was). 04. No File Sharing Do not to provide links to illegally copied movies, music, software, games, anime, manga, etc. However, shareware and freeware is not a problem. NOTE: You are free to discuss games or other media you have obtained illegally, but must do so without disclosing the location of the files themselves. 05. Art, Short Stories, Forum RPGs Please remain civil while taking part in any of these, and remember that not everyone on this board is able to view certain content. Thus meaning that posts should be kept to a strictly PG-13 level. 06. "I Hate it Here!" If you find that you don't like it here at Moonlight Netherworld, I suggest leaving and possibly finding another place that may interest you more. This place was made for people who want to be here. If you hate it here, you don't need to post about it; just take the necessary actions to ensure you no longer have to suffer in this place. 07. “So What’s Your Point?” There is a General Discussion area where you can discuss things not covered in the other forum rooms. However, posting gibberish or general rubbish is known as 'spam' and will be deleted. You may perceive yourself as the forum 'clown' with your never-ending torrent of wacky posts... but, whilst your patting yourself on the back, it is worth understanding that everyone else sees you as an irritating twat. Try and have an interesting point to whatever it is you’re going to post, that will be spark an informed debate. Those who see themselves as hilarious, seldom are. 08. Zero Tolerance For Bullies Anyone caught being abusive, bullying another forum member or generally being unpleasant towards other users, will be swiftly booted out. No warnings, no second chances, and no explanations. Anyone who thinks they are being a target for this kind of behaviour should PM an Admin (at this stage, that's Vyers who you need to PM) and they’ll deal with it. 09. Speak Proper English Like Wot I Do Proof read your posts and/or use a spellchecker before you send ‘em. Apart from anything else, fellow forum members will be spared the embarrassment of asking what the hell it was you just posted. 10. Search If you look at the top of the forum you’ll see a handy little ‘search’ icon. This allows you to see if anyone has already started a thread/answered the question that you are about to post. Please use or run the risk of looking stupid. If the search function doesn't work, and you post a duplicate thread of a pre-existing one, it'll be understandable. The new thread will be locked and a hyperlink given, pointing to the older thread. Its up to you if you want to copy and paste the information into that thread. 11. No Listing or Selling of Merchandise To safe guard all forum users from potentially fraudulent sellers, the sale of merchandise - including off-site links to auction sites such as ebay - directly via these boards is strictly prohibited. Threads of this variety will be deleted by an admin or moderator with no prior warning. 12. AMV (Anime Music Videos) Although, the creation of AMVs often involves copyright infringement, the admin has deemed it acceptable to post links to off-site AMVs - like on Youtube. 13. Image Leeching If you don't already know, a hotlinked image is one where the image/picture itself appears in your post. Hotlinking to images on sites which have not given you permission to do so (image leeching) is a bad idea. Although some sites won't have a problem with you leeching their bandwidth, others will. Sites that have a problem with you doing so could remove the image you have linked to from their site or substitute it for something else. Typically when it is substituted it will be to something obscene or otherwise offensive. You are responsible for all images that you link to. If obscene or offensive material appears in your posts as a result of your hotlinks you may be warned for it. There are a number of free or cheap image hosting sites such as Image Shack, or Photobucket that will serve as a good and reliable place for you to hotlink to. Please check over your existing posts (if you have any) and move/copy any images you have hotlinked to over to a safe image host if they are not already on one. That's it! Now please enjoy the forums and feel free to tell others about it too. The more the merrier.
