Saifa was freee! She was seriously so glad to be out and away from her sister for a little while. Lil was home sick with portkey sickness...HA! Safia's half sister didn't travel well at the best of times, and the move had definitely taken it out of her. So she had to stay home whilst Safia got settled without any trouble. She was so excited to be starting at a new school; she loved meeting new people, seeing new places...there was just so much out there to see! Having unpacked and sorted her things out in her dorm, Safia had gone venturing out to see what else was going on in this island, and she managed to wander all the way down to the main square. She looked in a few of the shop windows, before spotting the ice cream parlour. A smile spread across her face. It was quite warm today, and having spent the whole morning exploring the island, she reckoned it was about time she treated herself to an icecream. Safia hurried over, her skirt billowing out as she ran, and began pouring over the different flavours of ice cream there. There was just so many to choose from, how was she ever going to make a decision? This could definitely take a while....
Now that the shop area was opened, Travis thought it would be a good time to take a look around. He'd been to the bookshop already, of course...not that he was necessarily a book nerd, but between his private transfiguration lessons and the arithmancy club, Travis was definitely not short on things to read and look up. Plus he'd always preferred owning books to borrowing them from the library; no due dates to worry about, no need to worry if you accidentally drop your book in a puddle while playing an impromptu game of hackysack on the lawns....
Anyway, so he'd been to the bookshop, and now Travis walked down to the end of the block, seeing what else was down here. A lot of the shops didn't appear to have owners yet, so the street was mostly quiet. Then a sign caught his eye: Ice Cream Parlour. Travis was hungry, and who doesn't like ice cream? Shrugging, he pushed open the door, the little bell above the doorway tinkling, and stepped inside.
"See anything good?" he asked the girl, who was leaning over the counter to look into the display case. He didn't think he'd seen her before, either, and this was sort of getting weird. Travis had been around for a while, now, so either all of these girls were new, or...or Travis really had been spending too much time shut in his room. Maybe a combination of the two.

Safia basically had her nose pressed right up against the glass, eyes wide as she gazed over all the different flavours. There was peanut butter chocolate chip, rum and raisin, strawberry shortcake...and then slightly more strange flavours such as sherbet lemon and fizzing whizzbee and butterbeer. She was on the verge of asking for a large sundae with a mix of all her favourites when she heard someone speak. Looking up and standing back slightly, Saf saw a boy a bit older than herself. Oh...uhm, yes, actually. So many I can;t decide. Am thinking about getting one of those... Safia grinned and pointed to one of the menu boards, where there was a gigantic sundae, with 5 different flavors of icecream, plus chocolate sauce and whipped cream on top, and of course, a glace cherry. What you gonna pick? I'm Safia by the way. She gave another friendly smile...well, she always had a smile on her face, especially when the sun was out and she had the prospect of icecream infront of her. It was great to finally be meeting some people around the place though. Safia was always one to get totally involved in everything possible. And the more people she met, the better.
Travis's gaze followed the girl's finger as she pointed to the menu board. "Whoa! Do you think you can eat all of that?" he teased her, smiling. "That's a lot of ice cream." He walked over to peer into the glass case beside her, his eyebrows raising at the wide variety of flavors that were featured. Back home they mostly just had like, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. "Yeah, you're right, this is tough...oh, I'm Travis," he told her when she introduced herself, straightening up and offering her his hand politely. She had a pretty smile...actually, with her hair and everything, she kind of reminded him of Riley. That thought made him frown slightly, and he looked back into the case. "The cherry garcia one looks good. Maybe I'll go with that," he thought aloud, before looking sideways at the girl again. "Are you new, here? I don't think I've seen you around, before," Travis commented. So many new faces, lately. Though they usually got transfers in the spring, so Travis shouldn't be too surprised.

Safia was definitely looking forward to devouring her icecream now Travis had challenged her. Course I can! You just wait, it'll be gone in minutes! she laughed, waving over the shopkeeper and ordering the sundae with flavours of strawberry, butterbeer, mint chocolate chip, raspberry and sherbert lemon. Once it had been topped off with the cream, cherrys, sauce and Safia even added a few chopped nuts to it, she grabbed s spoon from the counter and took a quick scoop of her dessert. Mmmm...It's nice to meet you Travis! she said as he introduced himself, dropping the spoon into her bowl and shaking his hand, quickly licking the cream from round her mouth and chuckling slightly. Saf waited for him to order, ignoring the little frown she had seen and passing it off as him concentrating on what tgo order, before taking a seat in one of the booths. Yup, that one does look good actually. Come sit with me? It would be so much nicer to have company whilst they ate, rather than sitting alone. Saf took another scoop of her icecream, before answering. Oh, yeah. I transferred from Beauxbatons...barely been here a week actually. It's great here though. What about you? What's your story? She took another scoop of her icecream, closing her eyes briefly as she put it in her mouth. It really did taste good. Pausing briefly then grinning, Saf dug a large scoop out then held it over to Travis. Here, try some. It;s really good, trust me!
Travis just stared at the sundae for a second, suitably impressed that anyone could eat that much ice cream without making themselves sick. Though that last part remained to be seen. Travis liked ice cream, but he never had too much of a sweet tooth, growing up. "Wow, okay, I think you win," he told her with a laugh, ordering one scoop of cherry in a waffle cone. He slid into the booth across from her, settling back against the cushy seat and just enjoying his ice cream for a second. "Oh, Beauxbatons...I think I've heard of that," he responded with a nod. He had come here without any knowledge of the magical community, but over time, he had started to hear about other schools, especially from the students that had transferred here. "How did you like that? Was it a lot different from here?" he asked her, though he wondered if maybe she wouldn't know yet, since she hadn't been here that long. "Uh, my story?" Travis asked, blinking at her for a second and then chuckling. "Well, uh...I'm from Ireland...I've only been to school here, so I don't really know much about other magical places," he told her with a shrug. He stared at her spoon for a second as she held it out to him, suddenly feeling a little awkward. "Er...thanks," he told her, taking the spoon from her by the handle and trying it. He wasn't really that squeamish about germs and stuff, but maybe he felt a little weird about eating off of the girl's spoon when he had just met her. "Oh, that is good. What kind is that?" he asked, hesitating a moment before digging out a bite of his own ice cream with the spoon and handing it back to her. "Try that," he said with a nod.

Safia couldn't help but laugh at the look on Travis' face as he stared in amazement at her gigantic sundae. She had a massive sweet tooth, always had. She loved sugary sweets and cakes filled with jam and buttercream, and so her father had bought her books and she had learnt how to bake pretty young too. She always loved to lick the bowl when she finished, but with her Dad around, the cakes never stayed long, so she never really ate all that many herself. Lil, of course, usually avoided the cakes and cookies Saf made, preferring more sour treats. Lil could sometimes be won round with popping candy cookies though, so it wasn't all bad.
Travis's icecream really did look miniature in comparison to Safia's, but it still looked awesome. She kept digging in, taking small scoops form hers as they talked, shrugging when he asked how Beauxbatons was. It was okay mostly. It's quite....proper....I guess you could say. They put a lot of importance on etiquette..looking neat and tidy and being proper gentlemen and ladies.. Safia sat up straight and poked her nose up in the air, mimicking the way she remember her old Headmistress used to sit at the dinner table, then laughing a little and rolling her eyes. But aside form that, the professors were really good, and there were some girls who didn't think the sun shined out the wrong end. She giggled a little, her spoon between her teeth having just scraped off a chunk of chocolate, before continuing. But Dad got a new job, and Lil hated it there, so he figured it was just easier to move us, before my OWLs and her NEWTs. But everything here seems great so far. It's more relaxed I think, which I like, and there's so much to do. Plus, I always think it's nice to get to see other places. You can definitely get kind of stuck in a rut when you;re in the same place for too long, don't you think?
After her little ramble, Safia sat and listened to Travis for a while, talking about coming from Ireland, and not having been to other magical schools. Oh Ireland! I'd love to go someday. My mother always told me about the leprechauns there. So you've only been here to study magic then? That's what most people do I think usually. I didn't know many other people who transferred to of from Beauxbatons...I think maybe one girl in my house did a first year at Hogwarts, but she was a few years below me. And really, the schools teach you so much anyway, it doesn't make any difference what you knew before you came. I swear I learn new things everyday still about the wizarding world! Saf gave a chuckle. It was really interesting meeting new people, hearing their stories and where they came from and such. Much more interesting than just meeting people from the same old places all the time. The worlds a big place, right? There's more to see than just your own back garden.
Safia resisted a giggle at the awkwardness on Travis's face as she held out her spoon to him. She was friendly, maybe too friendly at times, considering they'd just met, but really, those kind of things didn't bother Safia. She was a little naive, and simply trusted most people straight off the bat. She was a pretty good judge of character, so she mostly had managed to avoid troublesome people this far in her life. I promise I don;t have cooties.. she said with a grin as she handed the spoon over. It's butterbeer...it's strange how different it tastes when frozen, right? More refreshing than rich and buttery, like the drink. She smiled as Travis handed her a scoop of his, and took the handle from him to taste the icecream. Mmmm yeah that one's really good too. Cherry, right? Might have to get that one next time. she said with a little laugh. Cause obviously she would be here every week now!
Travis ate his ice cream, listening as Safia explained to him about Beauxbatons, what it was like and stuff. He laughed when she did her impression, sticking her nose up in the air. "Uh, yeah, I don't think I'd like that, much," he told her honestly. He didn't think he looked like a slob, necessarily, but etiquette and stuff...yeah no, not really up his ally. "That's in France, right? Are you French?" he asked her curiously. He wondered if kids from magical families got to pick where they went to school, or if it was just decided by where they lived. Lucky he hadn't had to go to Beauxbatons; the language barrier would have been a problem, too.
Travis nodded as Safia explained about her Dad, and moving here. He was a little thrown off by her question about getting stuck in a rut; he hadn't really traveled much, or rather, at all, outside of Ireland and this island. He never really thought about it, much. He was comfortable here, it was home, now. "What? Oh, er, I guess," Travis said with a shrug, taking another bite of ice cream. "My family, uh, was never big on traveling. But it was nice to come here, get out of the small town." Even though the island was small, it still felt a lot bigger than his hometown had. Definitely more things to do, like Safia had said.
"Oh, yeah? We get a lot of transfers, here. My sister's best friend came from Beauxbatons, too, Marie Dublin? She transferred a few terms back, so maybe you wouldn't know her. She's my age," Travis explained. "That's really the only reason I know about other schools.... Do you miss it? Like, your friends and stuff?" he asked her curiously, thinking that it had been pretty hard for him his first year here, away from all of his teammates and friends back home.
Travis laughed when Safia said she didn't have cooties, feeling a little embarrassed that she had caught the look on his face. "Er, I know. Sorry," he told her, shrugging again. "Yeah, that does taste a lot different. It's good, though. Yep, mine's cherry. Do you have a favorite flavour?" he asked, looking at her giant sundae again and chuckling.

Definitely etiquette wasn't for everyone. Safia knew that, and as much as she had managed to get by being all prim and proper at school, she still knew how to let loose and have fun. And Lil had always been getting in trouble for getting things wrong. Yeah...it;s definitely not for everyone. It got a bit boring, but it was easier to go along with it than to rebel against it really. She gave a little shrug and took another bite of her sundae, shaking her head at Travis's next question. Mmm, no. Beauxbatons is in France, yes, but I'm Swedish. I speak French, English and Swedish, and most of the people there speak at least French and English, so they have students from all over really. A lot of families know exactly which school they want their kids to go to, as it;s usually the one they went to when they were younger. Families often have traditions like that I guess. Plus they know which subjects they like to focus on. I mean, Beauxbatons has a lot of focus on etiquette and charms, whilst Durmstrang.....they hide their location, so no one knows exactly where it is...they focus a lot on the Dark Arts. They get a lot of dark people there, and the old deatheaters and stuff prefer it there. Travelling to a school in a different country is a lot easier in the magical world. As I guess you know...it's not like Ireland is just down the road! Saf chuckled a little, diving into her ice cream again. It was sometimes a bad idea to get her going...once she started talking, she couldn't stop. She was like an open book sometimes, spilling everything out for the world to know. Not that she couldn't keep a secret...her own creature blood for example, was something she would only trust to her closest friends. She would have to trust someone entirely before she told them that little trinket of information.
Oh, that;s a shame. I love visiting new places. Though I've only really been to France, Sweden and here. But I've seen a lot of those countries. I just find it really interesting, you know. I'd always love to visit England, or America... Saf went off in a little daydream just then, thinking of all the places she would love to visit. The Great Wall of China perhaps. The Statue of Liberty. The Pyramids. The Tower of London. *sigh* She was brought back to the present time by the sound of Travis speaking again, and she shook her head slightly to bring herself back.
Sorry, day dreaming! Oh...Marie Dublin...nope, don't recognise the name...what year are you, 5th...6th? My sisters a 6th year, maybe she knew her. Saf gave another shrug. The name didn't ring a bell, but if it was a few terms ago, she would have possibly been only a first year, and she barely knew any of the older girls, aside from Lil, and her sister had always been the loner type. Uhm...I guess. A little bit. I was there for so long it would be hard not to miss it at all, but you know what girls can be like, best friends one minute and completely hate your guts the next. Saf flushed a little and stared at her ice cream, poking at it a little. She had loved her old school, had lots of friends, but as always, she had kept her secret till she felt she could trust them. And that had backfired on her. Some of Safia's so called friends immediately became jealous, and unfriendly towards her once she confided in them, and the other's simply accused her of lying to them for years because she hadn't told them. Gossip spread like wildfire around those kind of girls, and it became all she could do to ignore the whispering behind her back. She still had a few friends who didn't believe the wild rumours that had become embellished by word of mouth, or those that may have believed but didn't care..so it was almost a relief to move away. It had been hard, but not unbearable, and Safia had dealt with it okay, but it wasn't really something she wanted to remember either. Looking back up, she gave a wide smile to hide her previous downcast glance and asked. You miss your friends, from back home?
Travis's apology made her laugh a little bit. it;s okay, don;t worry. she said, brushing it aside. She knew she was often too forward with things, but it never really bothered her that much. Mmmmm..... maybe strawberry. I don't know! Think it;s probably why I spent so long deciding what to have. What about you? Cherry your favourite? Considering it was the only flavour he had chosen, that was a fairly safe guess.
Travis listened closely as Safia explained to him about the languages she spoke, and how families determined which magical school to send their children to. It sounded...well, a little complicated, to Travis. "Yeah? Wow, that's...pretty intense," he said with a laugh. "When I came here, I didn't even know there were other magic schools...which is pretty stupid, I guess, I just didn't think about it, much. I'm muggle-born," he told the girl, after a pause, figuring she didn't seem the type to mind that sort of thing. And if she was, well...oh well. Travis wasn't going to be ashamed of that fact, or hide it. He loved his parents, and sometimes he liked having a different perspective on things, just like Safia had said. Made things more interesting. "Sweden, huh? That's really cool. Say something in Swedish," he prompted, leaning forward in his seat a little bit. Travis had always sort of liked to hear people speaking in different languages. It sounded cool, though he was never a genius at learning them, unfortunately. "Yeah, America would be cool...my sister really wants to go there, visit Hollywood, study fashion or something," Travis said with a shrug. "I wouldn't mind visiting, just to see it." He wasn't huge on traveling, but he didn't think he'd say no to a trip, either.
"I'm a sixth year," he answered Safia's question with a nod. "Who's your sister? Did she transfer with you, then?" he asked her. Travis blinked a little bit, when Safia started talking about girls. Uh...geez. Yeah, girls were pretty confusing, hard to read, sometimes. Travis preferred girls that weren't like that, himself, but his sister had had her fair share of fallouts and drama with her group of friends...back home, at least. Here, people seemed to be a little nicer, though he'd still witnessed his fair share of catfights. Mostly Travis preferred to just stay out of it. Travis watched as Safia dropped her gaze, frowning a little bit. He didn't want to pry, but he was just about to ask her if she was okay when she looked back up at him, smiling, asking him about his friends back home.
"Oh, yeah, I miss them, sometimes," he replied honestly, taking another bite of ice cream. "I played football, well, since I was about six years old, and some of my teammates, well they were good mates of mine. I miss sports, here," he told her, shrugging. That was probably the thing he missed most, about being "normal," or a muggle: playing sports, being part of a team.
Travis smiled at Safia, laughing when she said she had a hard time deciding on a favorite flavour of ice cream. "Oh, yeah, I like cherry. Also vanilla, but that's sort of boring I guess," he said with another laugh, shrugging his shoulders again. Mostly people made fun of him when he said vanilla, but he did really like the way it tasted.

It was a good thing that Travis actually seemed interested in what she had been saying, cause looking back, she had definitely rambled a lot. Saf nodded and laughed along with Travis. Yep, it was b it intense when you thought about it. Wizarding families were a bit nuts sometimes with their traditions and such...especially the pureblood ones...they were just a bit insane. And really, she had kind of guessed Travis was a muggleborn...you didn't grow up in the wizarding worls without knowing about the different schools, which one you wanted to go to, and which one you had to go to. But it was rude to just assume, and anyway, it wasn;t like it mattered to her anyway. Wasn't like she was a pureblood either. My Dad's a halfblood, and my sisters Mum was a muggle, though she died not long after Lil was born, so I didn't know her. But Dad made sure we knew about both worlds as much as he could. Still feels like I know nothing about them sometimes though. Bet it was crazy, finding out there was this whole other thing that you were part of. What a surprise! Saf tried to imagine not knowing, and then suddenly one, day...boom! You get a letter and your whole life changes! How awesome would that be.
Saf grinned as Travis asked her to say something in Swedish, pokiing her tongue out a bit to think of something to say. Hej, du njuter av glass? she said naturally, smiling as he leaned forwards to listen closer. And in French...Bonjour, êtes-vous profiter de la crème glacée? She couldn't help but grin and let out a little laugh, Travis just looked so interested. Do you speak any languages Travis? she asked, taking another spoonful of ice cream and then picking up one of the cherries and biting off the end, leaving the stalk. Hollywood? That's in America...do they have a lot of clothes stores there then? she asked curiously.
Saf nodded as Travis confirmed his age. So he was the same year as Lil.Lilyah Ostberg...yeah she was at Beauxbatons, but she hated it there really. Too many stuck up girls as she would say, and she was always in trouble for not sticking to the rules. She's not very ladylike..they didn't like that. she giggled a little, remembering all the times Lil got in trouble for eating with only her fork, or for her dress not being ironed. Safia listened closely, now her turn to lean forwards in interest as Travis talked about his friends back home and all the sports he played. They sounded fascinating. Football....I think I heard of that...like, where you kick a ball around the field? What else did you play? We have quidditch, if you've tried that? It's not really my thing though. I prefer to dance. I bet it was really lame, leaving all of your team-mates behind.. she said with a apologetic look on her face, and giving a soft smile. Growing up, Saf had mostly just stayed with her sister, or looked forward to visiting her mother. There were a few girls in the town she had gotten along with, but she hadn't seen them in years, and so she couldn't relate to Travis having to leave such old friends. It must be horrible though, she imagined.
On the topic of what their favourite flavours were, Saf giggled as Travis said his was boring old vanilla. Oooh, but I think vanilla's nice! I guess people do think it;s boring, but you can never go wrong with it. And there must be a reason it;'s still sold so often, right? You never went for ice cream without it being available, so it must be doing something right!
Travis smiled, nodding his head. "Uh, yeah, I agree. I think it's cool sort of...getting the best of both worlds, you know? My dad's still going to teach me how to drive a car," he told her proudly, smiling. Yep, this summer, since Travis was sixteen, now. He couldn't wait to get behind the wheel. There were some things that magic people just did better, he had to admit it. When Safia said she bet that it was crazy, finding out about magic, Travis laughed, nodding his head. "Oh, yeah, it was nuts. I mean...we just thought someone was playing a joke on us, sending us these letters. At first we just threw them away," he told her with a chuckle. It was weird, how different his life would be if he wasn't here, now, if he was still back home, not knowing any of this existed.
Travis raised his eyebrows, laughing again when Safia spoke in Swedish, then French. Travis was pretty rubbish with languages, so he just sat there dumbly for a second, then shrugged. "Uh...I understood bonjour, is all," he told her with a sheepish smile. "I don't really speak anything...well, English, obviously," he admitted, feeling a bit stupid. When she asked him about Hollywood, he shrugged again. "Uh...I'm not sure. I mean...I think she wants to go there to see the movie stars, or something. She's always reading those magazines, you know. For girls," he told her with a nod. She should know, she's a girl, right? Right.
Lilyah? That was a nice name. Travis hadn't met her yet, but maybe sometime. It was a small island, after all (cue song). Travis nodded when Safia asked about football. "Yep, that's it. Best sport of all time," Travis said proudly. He had been about to ask her if she played, but if she had to ask him to clarify what it was, he figured she probably didn't. "I've heard of Quidditch, but I haven't played, yet. I love flying...I've heard people talking about maybe having a summer league, here...but who knows. I'm not sure if we have enough interested students, to play," he said with a shrug. He hoped something would get going with that, though. He loved sports in general, getting out, flying. "Dance, huh? What kind of dancing?" he asked her. His sister had been into dance, but that was more like cheerleader stuff.
Travis chuckled when Safia said vanilla was nice. "Does that mean you don't think I'm boring?" he asked her teasingly, taking a bite out of his waffle cone and crunching it as he chewed.

Safia's eyes widened slightly as Travis said he would learn to drive a car. Her father had learnt, once upon a time, but he had never intimated to Safia or her sister that he would teach them, and just thinking about it now, Safia knew he would never let them behind the wheel. My Dad's way too protective I think to let me drive...you're so lucky you get to learn! Promise that when you do, you'll take me out? Plleeeeassse! Safia may be a girly girl, but she still loved a thrill. Though Travis may have to wait another year, cause annoyingly the age limit for driving is 17 in the UK and Ireland. But either way, Safia still wants a ride. And she couldn't help but laugh out loud when Travis said they threw the letters away at first, that they thought someone was just messing with them. [color-darkorchid]Oh my gosh! That's so funny! Good thing they keep sending them then right?[/color] Definitely, or he wouldn't be here eating ice cream together!
Saf giggled a little, and gave another apologetic look to say she wasn't making fun of him for not understanding. I said hello, are you enjoying the ice cream?. When you live with people who speak a different language, you kind of just...pick things up. I mean, I Swedish is my first language, and Dad started to teach us bits of English and French, but I mostly learnt that at Beauxbatons. You just...get used to it. Speaking it all the time, rather than sitting down to learn the language, is much easier. I bet, if you went to France for a year, you'd come back speaking it almost fluently. She nodded convincingly at him. Learning a language from a class, and picking it up from locals were completely different. One meant having to translate your thoughts into the other language, the other meant thinking in the other language. But for all she knew about different languages, Safia knew nothing about Hollywood. Again, her eyes widened at the thought of movie stars and celebrities. Yep, she was a girl, and had read her share of girls magazines. More often they were wizarding ones, but she had seen the glamorous glossy pages of the muggle ones too, and they had been even better in her opinion. Those people....from the magazines...they live in Hollywood?! That basically had her convinced of going there now. Forget the cultural things she had wanted before, now it was the glitz and glamour that held her attention for a few moments.
Definitely had to stop daydreaming when in other peoples company. Saf definitely got too carried away with things sometimes. But she was listening, and really, football sounded fascinating to her. Even if she wasn't super sporty, it was something new, and that was always exciting! She grinned as Travis said it was the best sport of all time, adding in a little shrug as she scooped up the last of her ice cream. Maybe...though I reckon there'll be a few people who say different....everyone loves quidditch. Not that there weren't other wizarding sports or games, but quidditch was really the only one that stuck in a big way. Something to do with the dangerous, adrenaline fuelled whizzing around on broomsticks and the fact that there was just so much going on you could never possibly get bored. Oh if you like flying, you'll love quidditch. I like watching the game, but I do better with two feet on the ground. Do you have your own broomstick then? Saf had never bothered to get one, seeing as she had never been great at flying. Maybe this was one wizarding thing Travis could help her with.
Uhm, all kinds really. I just..hear music and move. I went to see the ballet in France a few times, and I copied some of the moves...that's the great thing about dancing though I think. Anyone can do it. Just...let the music guide you and let go! She hadn't had classes or anything, but Safia had been born to dance. The few occasions she spent with her mother, she would spend hours just singing and dancing in the woods. It was just natural to her, and she was naturally good at it. So when she had seen the ballets, or any other dancing, she was able to copy the moves perfectly.
Safia was just setting her spoon down and picking up her last cherry when she looked up at Travis., eyes wide. Boring?! No way! She was shocked he had asked, how could he even think that? Only then did Safia realise he was teasing her, and her face softened into a chuckle. If vanilla's boring, then I am too. So we can be boring together, deal? she said with a grin, dropping the remains of her cherry stalk into her bowl.

What was a better way to start off your summer, then to go and get a ice cream cone? Sure there were probably other things that Sam could be doing, but ice cream just sounded to good to pass up. And since she had been walking around the Emporium, she figured why not? She finished the little shopping that she was doing, then skipped over to the ice cream parlor. After she ordered her ice cream, she walked over to a nearby table and sat down to eat it.
Woo, ice cream! That was a very summery treat, and who didn't love ice cream? Tarryn did, for sure, especially if it was her favorite flavor: cherry garcia. Coincidentally, this ice cream flavor just so happened to also be pink, a big bonus. Tarryn ordered herself a sugar cone with a scoop of the cherry, then looked around the parlor. It was all but deserted, with a girl who looked around Tarryn's age seated at a table, also enjoying some ice cream. Now, given the choice between sitting alone and introducing herself to someone new, Tarryn would always take the latter. "Hey, I'm Tarryn!" she said to the girl as she walked up to her table. "Do you mind if I sit down? I figured sitting alone didn't sound like a very fun thing to do." She flashed the girl a smile, pausing with her hand on the back of the chair opposite the other girl, waiting for the go ahead.

Sam had been enjoying her ice cream, when another girl probably a couple years older then her came over and asked if she could join her. She took a bite out of her ice cream, before she smiled and nodded to the other girl. "Of course. I'm Sam, it's nice to meet you Tarryn."
"Thanks!" Tarryn said brightly, dropping down into the seat across from the girl and digging into her dish. "It's nice to meet you, too. Sam, that's a cute name. Are you a transfer?" she asked. She hadn't seen her around before, and she looked older, so Tarryn figured that had to be it.

Sam smiled and nodded back when Tarryn thanked her. "Thank you. My name is really Samantha, but everybody's always called me Sam. Yup, from Beauxbatons. I'm going to guess, and say you're not?" She asked before she took a bite out of her ice cream.
Tarryn nodded. "Thought so. You didn't really look like a first year, to me," she said with a laugh, taking another bite, herself. "Ooh, you're from Beaux too? I just met another girl who transferred from Beaux...." What had her name been? It was one of those typically boys names.... "Eli, was her name. Did you know her? She's younger," she said with a nod. "Did you like it there? I would love to go to school in France. Though it's nice here, too," she admitted, before taking another bite. "No, I've been here for six years, now, just about to graduate," she answered, when Sam asked if she was a transfer too. "Seems like a lot of people are transferring lately, before school starts again in the fall." It was cool, actually, though kind of sad that Tarryn would be leaving so soon after meeting some of them. Hopefully she'd still be around the island, though, at least a bit.

Sam smiled when Tarryn said that she didn't look like a first year, "Well, that's good to hear since I'm a fifth year." She took a bite out of her ice cream and nodded when Tarryn asked that she was Beauxbatons. "I don't think so, her name doesn't sounds familiar. France is wonderful, but my best friend transferred here so I talked my mother into letting me transfer also." She smiled when Tarryn told her that she was about to graduate."Really? That's cool."
Tarryn laughed, taking another bite, making sure not to smudge her lipgloss. Ice cream was delicious, but you had to be careful while you ate it, not to mess up your makeup. "Oh, yeah, I think the girl was younger...third year, maybe, this year?" she said, trying to remember. Made sense that Sam might not know her. Beauxbatons was also a lot bigger school, if Tarryn was remembering correctly. "Oh, really? Who's your best friend?" Tarryn asked curiously. She could understand that; she wished her bestie Marie was still around, would probably transfer if she did. She was from Beaux, too, come to think of it. Hm. Tarryn smiled at Sam when she said it was cool she was graduating soon. "Yeah, I'm like, totally excited. Sort of over the whole school thing," Tarryn told her, making a face.

Sam shrugged when Tarryn told her that she thought that the girl was younger, maybe third year. If she didn't know who the girl was, how would she know how old the girl was? She smiled again though when Tarryn asked who her best friend was. "Dana Andersen, she's in Merope." She told her with a nod. Sometimes she wished that they were in the same house, but she liked Maia so it was ok that they weren't. "Oh, I know what you mean. I'm so glad that I only have one more year left." She agreed with Tarryn, and rolled her eyes before smiling at her again.
Tarryn nodded, her expression one of recognition when Sam mentioned the name of her best friend. "Oh, I know Dana! She's a sweetheart," Tarryn said with a nod. They were really different, but Dana was still a nice girl. "She's in my house, actually, I'm in Merope," Tarryn told Sam with a proud smile. She loved her house, and would be SUPER sad to leave it when she graduated. Hopefully she could still come back and visit her friends as an alumni. She figured her HoH probably wouldn't have a problem with that (). "So have you like, had a good summer? Done anything fun?" Tarryn asked.
