Things were getting quiet.

Too quiet.

Fia did not care for quiet.

And since Vaurienth was getting a bit bored too, the quarrelsome but inseparable pair had made their way (bickering all the while) to the rim of the Weyrbowl, high, high above the ground. They had been unable to decide on their plan of action, so they had agreed to combine their ideas. Every person unfortunate enough to walk across the 'Bowl would be dive-bombed by a Weyrling pair, who would be making as much noise as humanly and draconically possible. That was Vaurienth's idea.

Fia's idea had been to invent Pernese water balloons. The resourceful teenager had 'borrowed', from the storage rooms, the oldest, thinnest hides she could find; then she held them in rough bag shapes and filled them with water, tied the tops up, and carried the round sacks of water in a bucket up to the ledge; and repeated the process until there were several buckets, full to the brim with her new inventions. So now the plan was to drop these objects on whoever they were diving at. Of course, the whole thing was rather unrealistic, unlikely to work.

Yet, despite that, there had been over ten victims in the past half-candlemark.

Ieolani wrung out her hair one last time in an attempt to get it to stop dripping down her tunic. The mess was out of its usual confines, double braids. Now it just hung in limp waves waiting to be attended to. Not that she cared that she looked like a drowned cat; who was she trying to impress? She picked up the various cleaning supplies that were scattered literally all around the lake (her dragon had kept moving throughout the course of the bath) and threw them into a bucket. Aeolanth, the object of her wetness, was already off sunning herself at their weyr ledge. Iolani sighed. To be a dragon, that would be the life.

As she wistfully imagine what it would be like to be a dragon (what color would she be?), something dropped towards the unsuspecting woman. She looked up when she heard a racket above her and with a splat she felt something hit her face. It didn't exactly explode, the tie came undone due to the pressure and the contents flooded her face. She spat out a mouthful of water and coughed a couple times before she even began to wonder what had happened. She looked down and saw a skin at her feet. She looked up and saw a weyrling pair.

Well.

Iolani set down her bucket and wrung out her hair yet again. She could hardly get mad at them. She was already wet and she had done worse.

But.

She couldn't just let them think they had bested her, their senior. What would they say if she let that go unpunished? Oh no, that would not do. So she smiled and waved.

And then chucked the sponge from her bucket at them.

"-and the Duo of Chaos steeee-rikes again!"

The duo in question, roaring with laughter as they hovered above their most recent victim, exchanged a mental high-five, totally in sync for once. They were hovering, perhaps, a little too low, a little too close to the Greenrider they had just water-bombed. Fia saw the wave, recognized the danger signs from Turns of experience, and immediately ducked down, flat against the Copper's neck. Vaurienth, two-thirds of the way to adulthood and lacking pranking experience, didn't notice.

And so he was very, very startled to see a sponge come flying at him, and even more surprised when it smacked him right between the eyes. With an indignant -and very undignified- squeak of protest, the young Copper swooped to the ground, let his howling-with-laughter Rider tumble to the ground (holding her 'still-sore-from-rapidly-healing-sprain' wrist protectively against her), folded his outrageously large wings against him, and stomped over to sniff the offending sponge suspiciously. Her glared at the little thing, lying harmlessly on the ground, and looked back at Iolani. He stood stone-still for several moment, just staring at the woman. Then the youthful dragon issued a silent command to his troops.

Fia stopped laughing at last and stood up, watching the older Rider. Three... two... one.

Three firelizards burst into the sky above Iolani, shrieking and diving at her -keeping a safe distance all the time- before zooming away with a final dramatic swoop, to hover, in a perfectly disciplined row, above their large Commander's head.

"This is my army!" Fia declared, waving her sheathed belt knife mock-threateningly at Iolani, while gesturing proudly at her four winged friends; Vaurienth struck a dramatic, intimidating pose, while the flits bugled a single challenging note. "Dost thou DARE oppose us? Meh, this sounds silly... do you DARE oppose us?!" she yelled in modern-day speech, eyes flashing with playful mischief.

OoC: Hee hee hee *snicker* Iolani can be such a kid sometimes!

The sponge struck home, right between the eyes of the young copper. Iolani winced as the pair landed and the girl tumbled off. Even though the copper wasn't fully grown it would still hurt to fall from a dragon. Or at least she thought so. She covered a smile when the copper glared at the sponge which lay innocently enough on the ground spreading its slightly soapy contents onto the sand. Perhaps she should have been a little more nervous; she had after all just made a young copper mad. Oh well. He stared at her and she gazed back, not quite sure what to make of it.

The girl that was riding the copper picked herself off the ground so Iolani turned her attention away from the dragon. She had expected the girl to say something, be it an apology or an insult. So it was her turn to be surprised when an army of firelizards stormed out from between, swooped around her, and then hoovered about the dragon's head. The question she wanted answered was who had called them, the girl or the dragon? Did one mean war with her or were they both in on it together?

From her ledge, Aeolanth quipped, Don't be so childish. Tell them to go back to their barracks and that they're lucky you don't turn them in! Iolani sighed mentally at her dragon. The green was too proud and contious of her image to participate in games anymore. But deep down, the green wanted to be young again just like her rider.
I have a better idea, you come down and back me up! What kind of dragon are you anyways, standing by while your rider gets bombarded? Aeolanth snorted in dignified rage.
Never!
If you don't come down and at least play along I won't bathe you tomorrow! Iolani threatened. That seemed like a good punishment for mutiny, no?

It took a bit more convincing but she finally got her green to come down and stand behind her. Aeolanth grumbled and muttered something about how she had better not get wet even though she already was but the green clearly was being affected by her riders enthusiasm.

Iolani also called Ace to her. The firelizard landed lightly on her shoulder and looked around a bit wearily, not quite grasping what was going on. The way he saw it there were a group of aggressive people facing him and his.
"And who," Iolani challenged in her most impressive voice, "Might I be challenging? State your name and rank sir!"

To herself she noted, "Hmmm, I'm a bit outnumbered... But I DO have age and experience on my side." Then she began tallying up her army and supplies. One sour green dragon who wouldn't lift a claw for them (Hey!), one firelizard who was nervous and ill trained in the arts of war, herself, and a bucket of cleaning supplies. Hm... A little low on ammunition... In fact, her only sponge was lying at the feet of the opposing side. The rest of her supplies included a bucket, brushes, and oil. Well, she wasn't going to throw any of that; she didn't want to hurt them. Just teach them a lesson on respecting their very dignified elders.
