O.K. Here it is. So everyone who drws has a particular style and way of doing it, right? well, how does every1 do it?
My friend is always giving me grief about that seven headlengths thing. Well, I say screw him! I see people with large heads all the time!!!! (Like, um, me! ) So I just draw and it r beautiful in my eyes! And no, my flash characters are not my serious stuff. -------------------- |

The 7-8 head length thing is true, though. I mean it's not always 7 for everyone, but with bigger to smaller heads, the proportions change.
![]() You see, for the "average" adult, they are to be measured around 7-71/2 heads tall. 1 - Chin 2 - Nipples 3 - Naval 4 - Crotch 6 - Bottom of knees 7 - Heels You can extend the height of the person, but have to consider the proportions of everything else as well. Things like age, and the kind of image you're trying to portray with your character should affect the way you draw them. Shown in the illustration above, you can see the comparison between an average, dumpy adult, compared to a heroic figure. Here, you see that as age progresses, the proportions are constantly changing. ![]() Every human is proportioned similarly. If you don't believe me, go find the nearest person and look. If you're alone, find a mirror and measure yourself. Your head may be larger than what some people may consider "normal", but is still not big enough of a difference to greatly distort your proportions and make you some sort of space creature. Many people like to draw their characters out of proportion, though. With big or small heads, long limbs, etc, but in order to draw well, even if its a cartoon, you have to know how to draw it the RIGHT way first. Anyway, more on topic. I don't know what you mean by 'how I draw', be more specific. Maybe you should go first. This post has been edited by Todd on Oct 29 2006, 06:12 PM -------------------- ![]() |

I like the smiley on the heroic figure. Haha.
I just suck at drawing. I ain't the person who will take his time on one picture. I'll eventually get to drawing something good. Also, I don't practice drawing the human anatomy. I just draw what I see. It never ends up looking spiffy... Anywho, I'll get to practicing. Todd inspired me to not draw "anime" and practice with other shit. Draw in different styles n mediums. Keep on doodlin. -------------------- |

Tutorials can only do so much, but you have to be careful with how you use them.
Most drawing tutorials I've looked at never did much for me. Instead, just stare at something and draw it. You don't need someone else's simplified method of drawing for you to imitate. Then its not original, and chances are you're not going to be used to their method of drawing, making it feel awkward and unnatural. When you draw, you make mistakes, you learn, and develop your own style. I find many tutorials get artists to copy the tutorial's image, and that makes it so that image is the only thing the artist knows how to draw. HAO2DRAW GOKU FRUM DBZ LOLZ! ![]() NAOUCAN DRAW GOKU FROM DBZ MAKE SUR HIS MSCLZ ARE VRY BIG LOLZ! NO! If you want to draw Goku (from DBZ), which I absolutely do NOT reccommend, ![]() Fucking draw Goku. Heres a picture. P.S. Try not to draw from pictures too often. But thats not the real American reality,
Its about showing off and trying to be the best out of the best, The reason to exploit is to commercialize the idea, "YES! I AM BETTER THAN YOU!" Think, we just be passive Canadians, and is that what you want? Note: No offense to Canadians, but you are really passive -Mike -------------------- ![]() |
