Title: A Change of Pace
Description: [Open]
Ryujin - September 9, 2010 02:55 AM (GMT)
A good beer tasted good. Ryūjin had heard that Loki had owned this nightclub, even though he heard he had a reputation as a nuisance. Eh. He would figure it out for himself if Loki did decide to meet him. Ryūjin figured it was likely. After all, the gods knew when there were other deities around. He himself hadn't seen that many since the war. Amazing how so many gods could scatter across the world, rarely meeting each other. Now that he was in London, though, it was more common.
And a good beer certainly tasted better than that... sake crap that he had back in Japan. There were pretty women around, too.... Maybe he could seek one of those mortal pleasures that he didn't experience so much. Ryūjin only had one that ever resulted in anything. Where was Otohime anyway? Though he worried for his daughter sometimes, she was a goddess; she could take care of herself.
The music was booming all around him. Ryūjin smiled, sipping at his drink. Yes, this was better than that job of cutting people open and mucking around with their organs. The multicolored lights illuminated the darkness, but it was still dim, like the deep ocean. It was almost familiar to him. And he was glad for that. The dragon god leaned back, looking for any woman attractive enough to catch his eye.
It was a change of pace, at least.
Amaterasu - September 9, 2010 05:05 AM (GMT)
This had to be the only place in London besides the grocery that had Sake. Thank heaven. Ama was dying for a few shots of the beverage. She didn't know this was Loki's club. This was just a day off for her. She had taken a second shot when she was approached by a seedy man who reeked of alcohol. Lucky for Ama that being a goddess made her less susceptible to alcohol. He called her 'Baby' and offered to show here a good time. Ama never took too kindly to these advances. She knew she was pretty, but she demanded respect. With her shooting this guy down flat out coldly he spewed some pretty derogatory and objectifying names. This foul tongue of his only made him uglier and uglier to her.
"Get lost before I make you get lost," she seethed. If this man wasn't going to tread cautiously with her she would indeed set something on fire. She moved from this side of the bar to another seat to avoid anymore conflict. Only this didn't work and she was followed. It seemed totally true, mortal men seemed to think that 'no' meant 'yes' and 'get lost' meant 'take me I'm yours' which was irritating beyond all belief. It wasn't as if Ama didn't want male company, she was just picky about her male company. After all the sun goddess used to spend her time in the company of some very powerful men in the past lifetimes.
She continued her verbal fight, not really care who would hear her. She just wanted to be here and enjoy her drink is all. This was just a minor problem for her.
Loki - September 9, 2010 06:27 AM (GMT)
Loki himself had been in the back of the club for a while, discussing with the supplier on the phone about a stack of champagne he did not like. At least not for the price asked. He got more irritated by the second, especially when he felt somebody... somebody immortal entering his club.
Of course he was dying to get back in, talk to the other god, maybe play a prank on him, but his duties made it impossible at the moment.
Annoying, considering how much he loved living the high life in his club, but he did not love the responsibility. Maybe he should *hire* some poor sod to do his work? While he could lounge around and plan his next mischief?
Sounded good...
Meanwhile in the bar, security wasn't sleeping either. The drunken guest was escorted discreetly outside and tossed into a cab. Where the cab would bring him, home, to a brothel, the next police station wasn't securities problem. With an apology to the asian lady, the bulky, though well-dressed men continued to watch unobtrusively over the guests.
Loki finally had enough of the bickering and ended the call with the promise to send the flawed order back. He had caught the presence of even another god... very near... *two of them in his club at the same time? Twice the pranking opportunity and that couldn't be missed!
Quickly, he sashayed back to his favourite spot, the cosy couch where he usually lounged and cast his eyes about, searching for the other gods.
Ooooh... Ama?
The lithe, charmy sun goddess?
He *had* to meet her!
Ignoring he other god for now, he made his way towards her corner of he bar where she was sipping her drink, a bit forlorn.
"And now I finally know what the sun's up to during the night..."
he purred.
Ryujin - September 9, 2010 11:17 PM (GMT)
Ryūjin could sense the presences of two other gods. That was unusual. He raised both eyebrows curiously, then turned his head back and forth to try to find out who they may be. One was probably Loki. The other? Ryūjin wasn't sure. He took another sip of his drink, though didn't really pay as much attention to the taste as much as his surroundings. He was curious about these gods, and needed to find them amidst the sea of people.
The sea deity got up, downing the rest of his drink before setting off into the crowd. Unsurprisingly, there was a man whose drinks had apparently gotten to his head. Ryūjin stopped and watched, frowning. Such silly people, really. He shook his head, then continued weaving between people toward the goddess that drunken man was harassing. He could recognize her, definitely, for she was part of his own pantheon, and one of the chief deities of it, to boot.
Security had led the man out, and he had watched as he was dragged away. Well, that was interesting. However, he was more focused on Amaterasu. It would be good to visit a familiar goddess after so long. However, Loki had reached her first. Not a bit problem, really. Ryūjin strode up to the two gods, then stopped next to them.
"A pleasure to meet you both," he greeted, nodding toward each in acknowledgment.
Amaterasu - September 10, 2010 12:44 AM (GMT)
Amaterasu was every grateful to the men who dragged her harasser out though they had neglected to do so before she had set his drink on fire. This time she didn't care who saw that it only looked like someone's cigarette embers dropped into the glass of whiskey. She glared at the man as he was dragged out.
It was as if some other god would see to it that she would get to have a moment's peace. "Hello Loki, it is good to see you," she said, "you too Ryujin." She knew he was there. She could sense him, that feeling was only confirmed when he approached them. The goddess knocked back another shot of sake, good stuff.
Loki - September 10, 2010 06:22 AM (GMT)
"Ryujin? You're here, too? Welcome to Asgard you two, I hope we'll have enough sake to quench your thirst, if not, I'll get more!"
Loki was beaming with joy. As much as a nuisance he coud be, as enthusiastic he was if some deity was actually *nice* to him. It wasn't something that was a given, considered his "impure" heritage and his long history with the norse gods...
But hospitality was a virtue that was highy valued in Asgard, the old and the new one, so he was eager to make his exotic guests feel welcome.
"How are you two doing in this constantly wet town? Ryujin, I bet you feel just at home, I am seriously pondering to get gills myself!"
Yes, he was a brat...
"Ama, can't *you* do something about this accursed, unfriendy weather?"
he mock-compained with a puppy-dog look.
Ryujin - September 10, 2010 11:06 PM (GMT)
Ryūjin gave a small wave to the two deities. Of course, he was familiar with Amaterasu. They'd known each other for hundreds of years, even if they didn't meet that often. Ryūjin held the empty glass in one hand, glancing down at what little remained of his drink. Oh. He was probably going to drink himself to death, even if it might have been difficult to get a deity drunk. Well, Orochi got drunk, so he figured he could too.
I've never had gills, he thought. And he was glad. Gills were silly things to look at sometimes.
"Thank you both," he replied to Amaterasu and Loki, nodding to them again.
"It's been a long time since I last saw you two."
Amaterasu - September 12, 2010 05:24 PM (GMT)
"Same,' Ama said. It had been too long since she had seen Ryujin, and Loki. It was nice to be in the company of gods again. There wasn't this much since her time in Japan as a geisha. Loki's seemingly joking about the weather only made her smile. These days she had little power over the sun like that. She really could just brighten a room. "I'm afraid these days all I'm capable of is setting things on fire and brightening the lights in a room," she said while actually doing the latter.
The lights seemed to magically be brighter, bright as day even, then dim. "So Loki I didn't know you owned this club, it suits you," Ama said with a smile. She still wanted more sake, of course she wasn't the kind to drink until she was actually drunk, in her case that was difficult.
Loki - September 13, 2010 12:57 PM (GMT)
"Uuuh, don't to that to my nightowlish guests, it might scare them away!"
Loki pleaded jokingly, shielding his eyes with a mock-pained face.
"Pheew, thanks."
he sighed, when the light grew dimmer again.
"And yes, I like my little home away from home with the more than fitting name. Hey, care to join me at my table in the back? It's quite there, we can talk more freely without any mortals eavesdropping and have a nice overview over the club."
He gestured towards his small corner with the cosy couch in front of the low, mahogany table.
"And you needn't worry about catching a waiters attention."
Ryujin - September 15, 2010 05:06 PM (GMT)
The already dim light in the nightclub became dimmer. Though, the flashing lights were still present. The colorful lights easily provided enough light for Ryūjin to see. Pity that Amaterasu had diminished in power. Ryūjin was still doing just fine with his. Perhaps she needed more practice? He gave a hum as he thought. The world, though, would continue going on even if the gods' powers were not used. "Science" would make sure of that.
Ryūjin nodded, looking toward the corner Loki gestured to. Didn't look half bad. Then again, Ryūjin was used to standing in an operating room. That could kill his feet sometimes. He welcomed any small comforts such as a seat. Not quite the same as fancy and sophisticated as Ryūgū-jō.
Amaterasu - September 17, 2010 02:27 AM (GMT)
Ama obliged to Loki's invitation. It was probably wise to stray away from wandering eyes and ears, after all she didn't like the idea of being eaves dropped upon. "That sounds lovely, Loki," she said, "We definitely can't have people eavesdropping." Ama was also not going to apologize for playing with the lights in the room. There wasn't much that she could do nowadays and playing with lights was just one of the ways that she played with her immortalness.
She looked over at Ryujin. This form he took was far nicer than his dragon form, not that that wasn't just as spiffy. It was just something she had to get used to, like everything else with this life amongst the mortals.
Loki - September 18, 2010 12:18 AM (GMT)
Loki smiled his trademark broad grin.
"Excellent! I reckon we have a lot to talk about. How long has it been, three, four hundred years? Damned long in any case."
He lead his guests over to the cosy and rather dark corner, that obscured his form as well as possible private guests from the mortals - admittedly, Loki had emphasized this obscurity a bit by other means. Finally it paid off to be a trickster...
He gestured for a waiter to come as soon as possible t take the other deities orders, before he plopped lazily back onto his seat.
"Now what brings you to London, my south asian colleagues?"
Ryujin - September 22, 2010 01:26 PM (GMT)
((Sorry for keeping you all waiting. >_<))
Ryūjin let one of the waiters take his empty glass, thanking him for his time. He continued on with the other gods. A nice quiet place away from the rest of the nightclub. Ryūjin followed behind Loki and Amaterasu. It was certainly darker than the rest of the nightclub, hiding the gods from spying mortal eyes.
"Too long for me to remember," Ryūjin said with a nod. "I've not seen many other deities around since I left Ryūgū-jō."
Loki had gestured for a waiter to come take the gods' orders, and Ryūjin had decided for some whiskey. It sounded nice right now. Nothing wrong with variety.
"Well..." he began, "I wanted to go to some place different. I've been in Japan for a long time, so I figured London would be a nice place to travel to."
Loki - September 27, 2010 07:41 AM (GMT)
"Well, the weather is crap, the food is even more crap and I have no idea why the "public transportation" is called "transportation" at all, but the beverage is quite agreable."
Loki summed impressions of the town up.
"But there must be a spell woven around these crammed streets and tall buildings, a spell so intricate that even a god can't escape its lure. Just so you know, many of us have found their way here and can be found with but little effort. Not long ago, Selene entered my club, just like you did tonight and the Lady of Poison, Selket, can be found as a nurse in a hospital.
Let me hear of your encounters, so we might find more of our kind perhaps."
Raising his cognac to both, god nd goddess, he took a long sip, enjoying the sweet burning of the liquor in hi throat... nothing like mead, though, but hey, beggars can't be choosers and occasionally, a demigod can't, too!
Ryujin - September 30, 2010 01:42 AM (GMT)
Ryūjin nodded. He didn't really mind weather that much. While the seasonal halls he once visited were grand, he still lived underwater. There... wasn't exactly much weather to be had hundreds of feet under the ocean's surface. But, Ryūjin supposed a few hundred years on the ground could have changed his view....
"Is that so?" he asked.
He'd not seen many of the gods in a long time. If all of them were gathering here, there must have been a reason for it. Of all the places, why were they all here? Ryūjin definitely knew there were many more places to go.
"Hm, Selket works in a hospital, huh?" Ryūjin said casually. "Might be a different one than I work at."
The dragon sipped at his drink. Well, it was better than sake, at least. He did like the tastes of the different foods here.
Loki - September 30, 2010 09:08 PM (GMT)
"Indeed it is."
Lokis really astonishing, why they are congregating here, in London. Admittedly a big town, full of history, yet nothing compared to Rome or Athen... Kairo perhaps or, in your case, Kyoto. Gives me wonder what we're actually doing here..."
Shaking his head, Loki refilled his glass.
"Now how have you been, Ryujin? Meet anybody else yet?"
Amaterasu - September 30, 2010 10:02 PM (GMT)
Amaterasu just joined the other two. She listened to Loki talk about contact with the other gods. Kyoto... Ama spent many lifetimes in that city. She had been living everywhere else of course, but she loved Kyoto. "Ah Kyoto, it's a lovely city, as are the others." she said.
Loki then mentioned Selket. "I ran into... Anubis, and Poseidon in Kyoto, during the Great Depression," she said abnormally sheepishly. She knew that Poseidon and Anubis were clients of hers, and there were things that weren't exactly appropriate things to have mentioned. "I've seen Ra recently too," she said in a lighter tone.
Ryujin - October 1, 2010 10:13 PM (GMT)
Ryūjin sipped at his whiskey, eyes flicking between Loki and Amaterasu as they spoke. He gave a small nod to each. He had his own thoughts on other places. Nippon was... well, it was certainly a very nice place, no doubt. Back in ancient times, at least. Nowadays, Ryūjin considered it a little bit insane for his liking. Though, the technology was to his liking. He kinda liked trains more than buses and cars.
"London has enough chaos to keep me entertained," Ryūjin stated. "And there's not much of a belief in gods like us."
"Nowadays, you see those new religions with the all-powerful and all-knowing deity."
He gave a snort, clearly not happy with the fact that... whoever it was many people believed in... had "usurped" the old gods' positions. But, Ryūjin figured he could do all right without the worship and just be satisfied with the palace, though it was impossible to get it back.
"I've not seen other gods recently. I assume that, if there are so many here, that I likely will meet others again."
Loki - October 2, 2010 12:49 AM (GMT)
"My, we really seem to attract each other then, isn't it?"
Loki remarked, a bit astonished to be honest.
"One should think that with all these mortals running around, the chance of meeting one of our kin would be one in a million. Poseidon and Anubis in Kyoto... Poseidon I could understand, but poor Anubis must have surely missed his desert."
He refilled the glasses, shaking his head.
"Yeah, these new, invisible gods... faultless and all-knowing and calm like a dead, buddhist monk... come on, where's the *fun* in this?"
The trickster god sipped his cognac, deep in thought.
"Maybe... this is, what the humans want and why we are here."
he mused aloud.
"Mind you, we're not all like these winged things now whatstheword... angels? Yes, angels. I mean... Zeus alone coud fill a decade of the Maury show!!
'Maury, I effing ate my secret mistress and now my daughter's banging against my forehead from the inside, what can I do?'
I mean, come on, seriously, you'd think a god might hae a modicum of intelligence to prevent this!"
Loki shook his head in disdain.
"Even I ain't that dumb!"
