Name: Adrianne "Elphie" Cohen
Preferred House: Slytherin
Year you would like to be: 6
How did you find us? I was browsing invisionfree, came across this site, and thought this one looked cooler than the others.
Strengths: Adrianne is very agile. She moves quickly and like a dancer, sometimes making something as simple a walk down a corridor look almost like a choreographed piece. People tend to be captivated by her movements and the all-around mysterious aura that seems to surround her. These things together are an advantage to her- they both distract the opposition and allow her to get away as fast as she possibly can.
Precision is another strong point. She learns fast and uses her teachings often in everything she ever does. If she needs to learn an advanced spell and get it exactly right- she'll do it, and she won't sleep until she's got it down to a science. This makes her quite the adversary. She doesn't like to be messed with, and people learn not to because she'll quickly and precisely find a way to get them back.
She’s also got a knack for problem-solving. Her mind works in odd ways and she tends to have very unconventional thoughts. But there’s a method to this madness of hers- it allows her to think of things others may have surpassed with their conventional thought processes.
Weaknesses: Her first impression is usually a weakness to her. People have a tendency to misunderstand her because her appearance and the way she speaks makes her seem a bit freakish and morbid. And they’re right, she is freakish and morbid, but there’s more to her than that. She’s actually pretty nice to the ones who can get past that initial impression and truly get to know her.
Overthinking some things and not paying enough attention to others also hinders her progress. She's got a huge issue with looking way too far into simple solutions, then turning around and thinking of everything at once. This gives the illusion that she's not paying attention to anything, when really she's paying attention to
everything.
Another weakness is her tendency to speak without thinking about what she’s saying. This bluntness of hers often makes her enemies because it causes everyone to mistake her honesty for dislike. It’s very hard for anyone to see her positive points when they aren’t reading between the lines or looking deep enough, that’s most of her problem.
Favorite Class: Her favorite class is actually History of Magic. She loves to learn about the past and things that are ancient. It makes her feel a sense of progress in the wizarding world and human life in general. She’s all about progress and the betterment of self, and she believes that one cannot progress to the future without knowing what’s happened in the past. For that reason, she’s a bit of a history nerd.
Hobbies/Activities: Dance and other various forms of performing are her main hobbies. She loves to amaze and amuse people with her dramatizations. She also loves the spotlight- she may not look like she would, but she's on a constant mission for attention.
Her other hobbies include long distance running, drawing, fashion design, and playing Quiddich (for fun, not competition)
Wand: 12 ½ inch oak with a dragon heartstring core.

Personality:She’s a mixture of the quiet observer and opinionated loud-mouth types. Most of the time, she’ll just sit around and watch people as a form of amusement, other times she’ll do things to see what different reactions she can get from others. She is fascinated by human nature and the workings of the mind in general, but that may stem from the fact that she’s grown up in a house full of quirky people and a psychiatrist.
Not that she's completely manipulative, but she can be quite resourceful when she wants something. She isn't afraid to tell a lie or "accidentally" leave out a little information when it's beneficial for her and her friends. In a subtle sort of way, she demonstrates some sociopathic tendancies. There are short periods of time in which she finds herself unable to care about anything or feel fear. Those times, she'll admit, are some of the most horrifying she's ever experienced. No one ever knows what she'll do when she goes into one of those states.
She can and will hide what she's thinking or feeling in order to come off charming- one minute she could be your best friend, and the next she could be socially slaughtering you. It all depends on the person and her mood. Basically, it's a good idea to stay on her good side and it will completely suck to move up her scale of negative energy. She will rid the premesis she's in of a person whom she detests.
She lives by a few basic rules, and they are- “Rejoice not at thine enemy’s fall- but don’t rush to pick him up either.” and "An it hurt none, do what you will." Basically, she doesn't care what happens to the people who get in her way, but she's not going to intentionally hurt them. She will, however, use any
other means necessary to get them out of her way. Again, if she wants something bad enough- she's getting it. End of story.
Sometimes she may come off as cold because of the unfeeling look she usually has on her face and her stoic reactions to things, and she’s often asked to show some sort of expression… but she doesn’t see the need to. Half the time, she’s thinking. When she’s thinking, she’s not feeling. So why would she lie and express feelings she isn’t having? Well now- She admits to being fascinated with people, not all-knowing.
She gets happiness from gaining knowledge. Adrianne never wants to stop learning and probably never will. She’s always got her nose in a book when she‘s not busy. She also asks a lot of questions and spends hours in silent meditative thought in order to process all the information she takes in. As a future warning- interruption of this meditation could have catastrophic results.
With those intense concentrating moments come times of near-ADD. Half the time, she's thinking about so much that she can't focus on one thing, and then situations become humorous.
Her sense of humor is sarcastic and misunderstood. When she jokes, it is very subtle. Because of this, one must know her very well in order to catch her hints of humor. That’s not easy- she is extremely hard to get to know, but she ’s very loyal to anyone that’s close to her. She thinks of her friends the same way she thinks of her family- if someone messes with a friend enough, she will personally make that person’s life a living hell.
1 Word to describe yourself: Calculating
Physical Description: Adri is around 5’10 and weighs 128 pounds. Her skin is pale with the slightest hint of an olive tone to it. Her eyes are hazel, though they may look a little on the grey side sometimes. Her hair is naturally black and wavy, falling halfway down her back when left down. She’s got perfectly shaped eyebrows, a narrow nose, and high cheekbones that make her expression a little more severe.
Her clothing is a little out of the ordinary, for she designs and makes most of it herself. When she’s not in school robes, she’s usually wearing skirts and dresses or tight pants and corset-style shirts. She likes to play around with uneven triangular shapes and different fabrics in black and emerald. She loves lace and large, exaggerated collars. Her accessories are usually antique silver with emerald and diamond gemstones, and her makeup usually matches her outfit. She always wears either her stiletto, platform, or combat boots and she never goes anywhere without her emerald green sunglasses.
A distinguishing mark on her is the scar on her back. It's about a half inch wide and spreads out diagonally over 6 inches from her side to just before her spine. She's got a small scar just below her cheekbone as well, from falling from her horse. A lip piercing also decorates her face, though she's known to take it out at times of stress (if she doesn't, she'll bite at it until she makes it bleed).

Pets: At school, she’s got a mischievous black she-devil of a cat named Aracnita. At home, she’s got a prima donna white horse named Jacqueline and a lazy iguana fondly referred to as Leonard Skizard.
Any prior schooling? Her mother sent her to a muggle school up until she turned 11 in order to expose her to both of her parents’ ways of life.
Life before Hogwarts: Adrianne grew up in New York City, about 3 blocks away from central park. The family was fairly wealthy due to her mother’s profession, but no one could have ever guessed that because of how many children her and her husband had. No one would have ever guessed that Adri’s father was a wizard either, but it was true. The whole family knew and accepted that, for half of the children showed full magical ability and the other half ended up to be squibs.
Anyway, Adrianne led a semi-normal childhood. She had friends and did well in school, but everyone always thought she was weird. She never really looked, acted, or talked in conventional manners. Basically, for her entire time in the New York educational system, she was the outcast that was still accepted into the mini-society. And that’s the way she liked it. She was quite happy… at least until she was on her way home from school one day and found herself in a sticky situation with an insane gunman. He came after her, she tried to get away, and he ended up shooting her in the back. The bullet just missed her spinal chord, so she’s lucky she didn’t end up paralyzed.
This happening angered her father to an extreme. He soon decided that NYC was too much of a dangerous place to raise his children, and he decided to move them out of the country. He’d always wanted to bring the family to England anyway, since that was his birthplace.
They moved to a small town outside London and Adrianne found herself even more alienated due to the fact that she was in an entirely new environment. Not that she could complain about that (she actually liked it). But it was still confusing. Anyway, they got settled in a little after her 10th birthday and she went to yet another muggle school until she was 11 and received her letter from Hogwarts.
She went of course, and braced herself for more adjusting. Ah yes, what a social chameleon she had become. Anyway, she’s enjoyed her time there so far… even if it has meant continuing her long-time reputation of the freakish, semi-cool (maybe?), smart chick who talks funny. It’s been a little over 6 years now and she still hasn’t dropped her New York accent. She doesn’t want to- that accent of hers tells a lot about her past and sets her apart from the rest.
(OH! And... uh,
salmon. heh.

I'm always forgetting something.)
