Tip tap.
Crrreeaaaaakkkk.
The castle wasn't entirely silent at night. Small noises were everywhere, and Timothy Nimbus was acutely aware of this. Mice, drafts of air, a rattling from somewhere deep in the dungeon.
Torches burning. He made sure to keep out of the light.
He communicated with hand signals mostly, until they made it outside and into the lawns.

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
Penelope walked on major tiptoe as they made their way out of the castle, often ducking behind things for ultimate stealthiness. This was all unnecessary of course, having been muted from the spell she casted on herself not moments ago.
As soon as they stepped out of the castle and onto the lawns, Penelope sprinted forward arms outstretched with broom in one hand. She had been cooped up inside all day, trying to study but ending up daydreaming. This happened often, but Penelope ended up getting decent grades anyway. Go figure!
She turned around to the other two after doing a few twirls of happiness. "Awesome idea Timothy! This is just what I needed!"

Timothy let the door close as quietly as possible when the three of them snuck through. Then he let a grin illuminate his face.
"Haha, it feels good, doesn't it? I had way too much to do today as well. The night is perfect for a little wandering around. Let's hit the pitch!"
He jogged to catch up with Penelope and started to make his way into the Quidditch field.
"Nice broom, by the way. I wish I could get mine, but it's all the way up Gryffindor Tower."

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
Penelope examined her broom, considering Timothy's opinion. It's true, Nimbus brooms were hard to beat, but she considered her father's brooms to be the best of the isle. When this year is over, and she's finally out of school, he promised to make her one as a coming of age gift. She'd have no problems tracking down any dark wizards then, nothing could stop her! Mwahaha!
Erm, yeah. She just remembered that Timothy had said something and responded as quickly as her brain clicked back into gear. "Oh man, Nimbus makes pretty sweet brooms! I've been a big fan for years, and they just keep getting faster y'know? Soon we'll be able to fly to the moon!" She laughed, knowing of course that couldn't happen. Maybe.
As the pitch started to come into view, only dimly lit from the moon, the same feeling of being pulled over there came over her. She probably could become a professional quidditch player if she really wanted to, but she just didn't put enough time into it. "So, what're you thinking we do when we get there?"

Timothy tripped a little on a rock. Woops. He could be a little clumsy. Hope she didn't see that.
"Really? You think we could do that?" He took things like that quite seriously, you know. "I've been wanting to go to the moon for ages..."
Air shells with temperature reduction resistant spells and stamina salve treated broomtwigs, idea after idea after idea. None of them were really good enough though. Nothing he could get out of the atmosphere, anyway. Not yet.
They approached the pitch. The dark that sat in the stadium curled the seating into shadows that covered the grass. Very little could be seen, but then again, very little could be observed. It was perfect, they couldn't get caught. At least, that was the plan.
"Right, Ummm... let's play air tag?"

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
As she walked through the grass, Penelope could practically feel the dew settling around her. This simple fact did nothing but please because honestly, late at night and early in the morning were her favorite times of the day. Too bad she was usually asleep for both of them. She was also quite happy Timothy didn't dismiss her prediction, in fact he did the exact opposite. It wasn't often that Penelope had a dreamer like herself around.
As soon as they stepped into the pitch, Penelope hopped on her broom and zoomed about 10 feet in the air above the boy's head before turning around to taunt him. "You're so on, if you can catch me that is." She hovered in the air like a hummingbird, ready to zip away at any second.

Timothy grinned at her.
"But Penelope.... I don't have my broom!"
She didn't forget, she was just as excited as he was. It was a heady feeling, being on the field without any spectators, or scoreclocks.
"Wait right here, I'll be back."
He dashed into the gryffindor locker room and picked up one of the Cleansweeps. Then he flew out.
"Are you ready? I'll be it!"

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
Penelope chuckled as she watching Timothy run off. Lifting her hands off of the handle, she sat on her broom and steadied herself with pure balance. This, for some reason, was possible on a broom but nearly impossible on her own feet. Penelope tended to have some clumsy moments, but on a broom she was always completely in control. She contemplated crossing her legs while waiting for Timothy, but decided it was probably not a very good idea.
She crouched back into position as soon as he flew back into sight, a wave of adrenaline surging through her body when she realized the speed he was coming at her. "You're gonna be it for a while, buddy!" She called out before zooming towards him and over his head, taking a turn following the edge of the pitch with ever gaining speed. She looked back at him grinning, and much too confident about her skills.

Timothy narrowed his brow at Penelope. She was fast. Really fast. Fast as Brand, probably faster. He hadn't had fast people to go flying with for a long time.
He dropped his stomach flat to the broom handle and rocketed around the goal posts her way, straight down the center of the pitch. Wind pressed his somewhat curly hair flat to his skull. It was the sensation he loved, utter vulnerability coupled with complete confidence. Not the thrill of victories or points. Just being in the air was enough.
"Let's try this!" He came up from underneath Penelope and made a swipe for her shoulder.

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
Penelope felt it. No way he had caught up to her, it's just imposs--oh yup, she glanced over and saw his hand come away from her shoulder. Tricky boy, coming from below like that. She half expected him to have just blindly raced after her, very impressive going down the center of the pitch. Though, Penelope really shouldn't assume that people won't catch on to her plans. Somehow she had hoped she would've made it all the way around before he had started, that would've been fun. And impossible. But still fun.
As soon as she realized Timothy had indeed caught her she yelled out a startling "GOD DAMN IT!" and turned around towards him, ready to barrel down with speed fueled by the great fire of hell itself. Competitive? Not about anything but flying, it's what made her such a great quidditch player. That and her unusually strong swinging arm. Oh, and her unusually strong will. Can't forget that one.

Timothy swung his head back and watched Penelope flare after him. He put on a fresh burst of speed and zoomed for the goal posts at the other end.
"Guess that was a little too fast, huh?!"
That'll make her mad, don't you think Tim? He almost covered his mouth as soon as the words left it. He teased people automatically sometimes. It was a habit he'd somehow picked up from being teased incessantly in his early years, something he ought to try to break. He completely, totally hated getting teased. It could lead to varying degrees of nasty, and people were softer than they appeared, including himself. But it could also be good natured between friends, and it was possible some people were comfortable with it.
Better watch myself more with her though. That sounded like a real temper.
"Come on!"

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
Oh no. This just could not happen. The boy was good, maybe almost too good, and he was on a school broom too. Oh the horror, Penelope could feel the rage starting to build. "YEAH YOU BETTER RUN!" She yelled out after him just before jetting off in the same direction. Thoughts of past quidditch matches and slamming bludgers into other players started flashing in front of her eyes. Quidditch really did turn her into a different person, the calm goofy exterior held a crazed competitive broom master. She was almost caught up to him. Before he could turn around and scope out the scene she dived down and zipped across the field, so low to her broom they had almost become one.
This apparently gave her a little extra speed though, because the next time she looked up she was ahead of the boy. With this she jerked her broom upwards, barreling towards the sky. Just as she got to Timothy's path she reached out her hand. Oh please god let the timing be right.. Sure enough their paths just crossed, and her hand grazed his arm as he rocketed past. She let herself go a few feet further before evening out and stopping, turning towards him. "So, what were you saying about too fast?" Her grin was epic. She probably should've been thinking about running away, but her competitive nature was subsiding.

Timothy could almost feel the heat spitting at his back when he heard that yell.
She knows we're out after hours, right?
Flit.
SHOOM.
She had tagged him. The backwind took a second to catch up, and he realized she had to have knifed pretty hard through a direction change to pull that off.
Timothy turned at her grin, and taunt.
She was terrifying. But he wasn't frightened. Something about how she was giving off attitude radiated happiness, not bloodlust.
At least, he hoped it was that.
"You're... a really good flier, you know?" He said at last. "I don't think I'm going to be able to beat you."

LATE NIGHT RENDEVOUS
Penelope reveled in the moment for just a couple of moments. She really wasn't much for boasting or bragging, so she often shrugged things off immediately whether they were good or bad. That is, unless something truly spectacular happened, like when she passed her potions exam. That was a good day. It didn't happen very often, believe you me.
She flew down beside him, wishing there was a more comfortable way to sit on brooms. Maybe they could make brooms with seats, for recreational use? No matter, she let go of the broom with her crazy balance yet again. "So, you're pretty fast yourself. Were you a born broom man or have you just had tons of practice? Upon further examination, she realized that he was the Gryffindor seeker. Of course! No wonder he's so fast! That darn snitch catcher... Penelope had tried out for the Hufflepuff seeker spot, but they made her a beater immediately when they saw her rage and her arm.
"Ooooh you're the Gryff seeker! That makes sense, I was a bit surprised when you caught up to me so fast to be honest!"

Damn, she noticed.
"That's me, I am... the seeker." He paused for dramatic effect before bursting out laughing.
"Sorry, that was - ha! - horrible!"
He and the broom wafted down to the earth to meet Penelope.
"I dunno... I've been up in the air since I was a little kid. So... either? I guess I'm lucky that you're not using your club."
He looked around.
"Do you wanna take a break? I feel like sitting down."
