So maybe it's just me, but the fact that Penelope has an irrational hated for Slytherins, and the fact that Adrien thinks that Hufflepuffs are mostly morons, seems like entirely too much fun to not do anything with. Obviously they'll dislike each other on general principle, but I say we should stick them in some situation where they can't escape each other and watch them either grudgingly learn to respect each other, or reach new levels of hatred. Partners on a class project, maybe, and they both need a good grade.

Adrien also has a massive secret crush on Maz, a fellow 'Puff girl, so if he ever tried to ask for a favor from Penelope - put in a good word for him, let Maz know he's waiting outside the common room, hand her one of those "do you like me? circle one: yes no maybe" notes, the usual - she could use that to torment him.

Penelope and Merle have to be BFFLs. Being the same house and the same year, they probably know each other pretty well. Merle is the type to always suggest really childish, outlandish things. Maybe the first week he was at Hogwarts, it rained and he was like WANNA GO BUILD DAMS IN THE STREAM OUT OF MUD?!?!?!

And then six years later he still asks her if she wants to go dam up random streams in the woods, because he's a total dork.

Also, he'd always be up for shenanigans. As long as they weren't mean. He doesn't like mean people D:

Sticking with the thing Adrien said about the notes - Would Penelope be the I Need To Look Out For The Younger Puff type? Like trying to warn Maz how bad the Slytherins are and how she should stay away from Adrien? Maz would hate it... could be both explosive and funny. I mean, she'd hate it at the time but she wouldn't hold a grudge knowing that some people are just too nice for their own good.

Also, they're beaters together and Maz can get quite aggressive with it at times. Maybe Penelope's had to have words with her a few times?

If this was the case I could see them as kind of being enemies but I also get the feeling that Maz would have some respect for the older girl. Not many people can continually stand up to an angry Scottish chick (we're mental).
