James is very attractive; or at least something about him seems to attract most of the girls in his year. He has rugged good looks and, being the carefree person that he is, doesn't really bother fixing himself. He doesn’t really have to and it seems to work for him. He has black, untidy hair that can always be found sticking up in the back. He will try and comb it down every now and then, but this is a fruitless gesture. He often runs his hands through his hair, in an attempt at making it look windswept, as if he has just gotten off of his broom. This might be one of the gestures that James makes that shows his self-awareness. He has hazel eyes that seem to mesmerize members of the opposite sex. Their not abnormally colored or anything, but they still seems to entrance women. The only flaw he would consider about himself, is his slightly longish nose. Although most people would never notice it, he always wishes it was a bit smaller.

James is fairly tan from spending so much time outdoors and playing quidditch. Quidditch has also helped him add more bulk to himself, and he now has a toned stomach, and a decent amount of muscle. He fancies himself quite strong and takes the opportunity to show-off when it comes up. James usually wears simple clothing, anything that is comfortable. He doesn’t see any need to dress up, so when he's not in his robes, he's in a pair of jeans and a plain t-shirt. James has pearly white teeth, which adds to his swoon-worthy smile. Once he flashes his smile, the girls seem to melt right before his eyes. James is of average height, and is about 5'11, which is just tall enough for him.

James Potter is the coolest kid to ever grace the Earth and that is all you need to know. At least if you ask him. But if you wish to dive into the very depths of James Potter's soul then read on, my friend, read on.

Like any true Gryffindor James is bold and brave to the end. He absolutely adores adventure and the thrill of doing something dangerous. Nothing is too risky or too outrageous for him. He is not one to turn down a dare and loves doing things that others consider stupid. Immature? Maybe. Loves to have fun? Totally. Anyways, exploring new places and being outdoors have always been good times for the boy. The boy has a knack for finding hidden passageways and using them for the common good to cause more trouble.

The boy loves being social. He finds that when he is with a group of people he always has more fun. James enjoys hanging out with his friends and goofing around just like every teenage boy. With a sharp tongue and a good sense of humor, James is usually loads of fun to be around. He likes to have a good time and can hardly ever be seen sitting still. Being bored is not fun, at all. During the terrible moments that James Potter is forced to be all alone he entertains himself by humming, dancing, day dreaming about a lovely lady, and thinking of ways to find someone to talk to. It is quite rare to find the boy sitting by himself doing nothing. He loves to be busy and has an inner need to always be doing something.

Being one fourth of the Marauders it is obvious that James can throw a killer prank and cause plenty trouble. Armed with a creative mind and help from his friends, the pranks he is involved with are always amazing. He targets not only his enemies but his friends and even random strangers. He loves pranking and causing trouble. It is fun, enjoyable, and extremely hilarious. Sometimes he can cross the line with his trouble making but for the most part James is smart enough to realize when to stop so he doesn’t get expelled.

Now James likes to think that he isn’t judgmental and he is to an extent. As long as person doesn’t posses a few qualities he’ll gladly talk to them and get to know them. What he considers bad qualities are quite simple in his opinion. As long as a person is not a Slytherin or judge people based on blood then they go on his “acceptable persons” list. Anyone James dislikes is well aware of his hatred. Over the years the boy has received several detentions for getting into physical fights with some of his enemies. He also won’t stop at anything to humiliate his enemies, especially those weaker then him.

Quidditch is a sport that is near and dear to his heart. His dad was a star player during his Hogwarts years along with some of his distant relatives so James certainly has the genes for the sport. He also has a bit of natural talent along with a love for the game. All of that mixed together makes James an excellent Quidditch player. Once he watched a bit of the game and got his toy broomstick, James was hooked. His dad taught him how to fly well and James was determined to be an amazing player. The boy works extremely hard at improving his skill and becoming a better player. Add in the fact that James loves competition and it should become very obvious that Quidditch is very, very, very important to him. Tell him that he's terrible at flying and a bludger will soon be flying your way.

Now, James is not the type of boy to think poorly of himself. In fact he is quite the exact opposite. He is enormously self-confidant and comfortable in his own skin. Sometimes his extreme confidence can annoy others but that has never stopped the Gryffindor from expressing himself. James Potter would be the first person to tell someone that he is the best at everything. The boy won't stop arguing that he is the best even if a meteor was about to hit the Earth. His arrogance and cocky nature can be quite a turn off while others enjoy being around someone who believes he can do anything.

Once his mind is set on something, nothing can change it and he goes after what he wants. Stubborn to the core, he is always sure to get what he wants and won’t let anything stop him. His determination can be seen as noble but also as rather foolish and a bit childish. He just can't quit, quitting is for losers, and James Potter is defiantly not a loser. Even getting rejected a hundred times will not stop the foolish boy. The chase will make the win even more satisfying.

This attitude follows James into the romance department. He thinks that most girls are in love with him when the reality isn’t that true. He also thinks that he get any girl he wants. James loves to flirt with girls and does so often. The Potter boy is quite the charmer. He’ll flirt with girls who he doesn’t even find attractive just because it is fun. When it comes to relationships James isn’t the first boy girls want as a boyfriend. He has a hard time not getting bored when he’s with one girl for a while and has a hard time with the word commitment. And the fact that none of his past relationships were with his ‘one true love’, a Miss Lily Evans.

When it comes to school James Potter usually isn’t the happiest camper around. He hates lectures, homework, and pretty much everything to do with lessons although he is extremely intelligent. James easily earns good grades without breaking a sweat. If James bothered to try a bit hard and not annoy his Professors every two seconds he would earn top marks. But alas, James isn’t motivated to try harder and his lack of ability to take things seriously have blocked him from academic excellence. Too bad that it will take quite a bit to take James out of his current immature and foolish way of life.

History:

It was a lovely winter when James Potter was born. January 18th was a day that Charlus and Dorea Potter have always been grateful for. It was the day that their one and only child was born. They had been trying to have a child for some time but they had no luck before James. The Potter family was one of the few pureblood families left who didn't act like other purebloods. They were quite wealthy, yes but they didn't look down upon those who weren't pureblood. In fact it was by pure accident that Charlus and Dorea fell in the love. The two had been determined to marry anyone other then a pureblood until they found each other.

Anyways, this story is about their only son, James. To be frank, his parents spoiled him. They were so happy to have a child that they couldn't help but give their son everything he wanted and then some. James was used to getting his way and loved it. Charlus and Dorea loved their child very much and instilled values into their little one. They taught their child not to judge based on blood, the difference between good and bad, and other good morals. (Not that James necessarily still follows all of their teachings...)

Now Charlus had been a chaser in his Hogwarts days and once James was old enough to fly around on a toy broomstick, Charlus took him out of the back yard. James quickly grasped the sport and loved it. It was fun to fly around and feel like a bird. His dad took him to Quidditch matches and the young Potter adored the sport. Ever since he was a boy, James has loved Quidditch, and that is a fact that he hopes will never change.

When January 18th rolled around during James' eleventh year, an owl appeared at the Potter household with a letter. The letter was the boy's acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardary. It was not a huge surprise that James got into the school as he had been showing magical qualities since a young age. If anything, it was only obvious that an owl would deliver a letter on his eleventh birthday.

A few months later on September 1st, James was off to Platform 9 3/4 to board the Hogwarts Express. After crossing the lake in a rickety boat, which James thought was very unsteady and was sure to stink, the boy found himself standing in the Great Hall for the first time. Having a last name starting with 'P', James was one of the last first years to be sorted. The Sorting Hat rested on his black hair for only a few moments before shouting, "GRYFFINDOR!". The eleven year old was quite happy to be sorted in the house of the bold and brave.

As James skipped from the wooden stool to his new house table he had no idea that he would find not only delicious, yummy food but the three people who would become his best friends. It was that fateful September 1st day that he first met Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. The four boys quickly began a beautiful and close friendship. Pranks and troubling making bonded them together but it was their loyalty that branded them together for life. They eventually gave their little group a name, The Marauders and became infamous around the castle for their various doings.

September 1st was also the day that James Potter first laid eyes on a red head who would become the object of his affection for the coming years. From the moment his hazel eyes saw the girl, emotions swept over the boy. These feelings confused him; he hadn’t felt this way before. It confused him, and well, James Potter did not like to be confused. So what was an eleven year old boy to do when he has his very first crush? Tease the girl unmercifully, of course! That is only the best way to gain affection from a female, duh!

It was during his first few years that he learned (after much pestering, on his part) that one of his best friends, Remus, was a werewolf. The idea didn’t scare James in slightest. He actually found his friend’s ‘furry little problem’ amusing and cool. For the next few years James, Sirius, and Peter worked hard to become animagus in order to see the night with their wolfish friend. By fifth year they were all able to turn into an animal at will. James was the strong stag, Sirius was a loyal dog, and Peter, well, Peter was a rat. Full moons soon became one of James favorite times of the month.

As far as school work goes, James didn’t try to hard, at all. With a smart brain, he found his classes rather easy and he didn’t have to try hard to scrape by with acceptable grades. He would often be found spending his class period finding new ways annoy his Professor or plotting a new prank with Sirius or staring at Lily. Speaking of Lily, James moved passed his teasing phase a bit as grew older. He still teased her but he took to also asking her out almost every day. And every day James received a rejected from Miss Evans. The rejections never bothered Prongs much. Instead it only made it a bit more exciting, in a way. It would make the day Lily finally fell in James’ arms even sweeter. James isn’t about to give up on his crush or true love, as he believes, any time soon.

When James entered third year, he tried out for the Quidditch team as one of the chaser had graduated the year before. Much to his happiness he earned a spot on the team and was able to play the game he loved dressed in scarlet robes. James worked hard to improve his skill in order to bring more wins home to his house. He loved the sport dearly and loved playing it.

If it weren’t plainly obvious, I’ll state it now, many of James’ school days were spent taunting Slytherins, stalking following Evans, plotting pranks, and actually pranking fellow students and professors. What else would one expect from a Marauder? With such a reputation and track record for trouble... it came as quite a shock to everyone, especiall James, when he was named head boy the summer before seventh year. He had expected Remus to get it and, needless to say, he wished that he had. This bit of news put a damper on the rest of his summer as he thought about the responsibilities to come and the rules he would have to follow. However, his spirits perked up when he met hid Head Girl on the train September first, none other than the love of his life, Lily Evans. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all? Now in his final year at Hogwarts, James has two goals. The first is of course to go on a date with Lily Evans. But that might be a bit difficult seeing as Lily tends to avoid James despite the fact that they now share some very cozy, private dorms. And the second goal is to cause as much trouble as possible. What? Did you actually think that the infamous James Potter would let a little thing like being Head Boy change him? Not a chance.
