my nieghbor grew up in colorado...
was this fire spark by man or by lighting.???

They don't know yet..... they have to wait for it to cool off before they can get in to investigate.

Here's part of a message Randy H. sent.

"Almost all the streets on my scenic morning drive were open this morning. That fire was way close to many homes and businesses. The firefighters did a great job of keeping damage to a minimum. It could have been much worse. It's really sad to see the scorched slopes. The trees on the ridge lines look like blackened tooth picks. As I drove along the edge of the devastation the temperature rose about 20°. Still a lot of heat in the mountains from this."

"The FD is now starting to call out "cold spots". They feel the ground with their hands to make this determination. Yesterday they were patting down the Waldo Canyon area where it all started. I imagine the investigation into what started this is in full force."
