ACMA will host it's 2nd Annual Sailplane Fly In on September 10, 2011.

If you haven't got a glider yet, now's the time to start looking for one. Many are available from simple 2 or 3 channel models to more advanced "Full House" birds with Rudder, Elevator, Ailerons, Spoilers, and/or Flaps. Some ARF's and Kits can be found from the usual sources, and a little extra effort will direct you to a few more specialized distributors with high dollar, composite material "contest" ships.

Our Fly In is just that, a Fly In. It is NOT a contest, though a little friendly competition between friends and flying buddies won't be discouraged wink.gif , and a few awards will likely be presented for categories yet to be determined.

While I admire the composite built airframes, the "Mouldies", with their super smooth, efficient lines, I really enjoy the classicly constructed wooden aircraft, or "Woodies". I built my first sailplane last year, a Skybench Oly II (a build thread exists here on this Forum) and absolutely love it. In the next week, I'll begin construction on a new "Woodie", a Skybench Sky Bird. I'll also start a build thread on it here for anybody interested in following it.

Last year our event was called Sailplane Fly-in...

With that new long and fancy name you just gave it, what will be different this year? huh.gif dry.gif

Well... You are the organizer of the event, so you can call it what you want.

But I'm the one having to try to fit that lengthy name on a flyer...
That is, if you want me to make one... huh.gif

It looks as though this coming weekend (Sept. 10-11) is shaping up to be a beautiful one, with NO rain, mild 80's temperatures, and hopefully no gusty winds and boomer thermals wink.gif !

Get your sailplanes ready and come fly with us on Saturday! cloud9.gif
