Saturday November 20 Irvington Field Report/Pictures

This was the day for ACMA's 1st Annual Charity Fun-Fly.
It was very successful, thanks to all involved.
Some were overcome by all the activity and had to get a little rest.

Sunday November 21 Irvington Field Report/Pictures

Another fine flying day at Irvington Field, just a little more breeze than yesterday, but pretty much down the runway and not all that bad at all.
The usual crew of pilots, aircraft, and lookers were on hand. Even after the big turnout yesterday for the Charity Fun-Fly, plenty of people came back for two days flying in a row.




Jon had some bad luck today. His big P-51 Mustang, that he had just purchased from Al, went in hard and was pretty much torn up, Jon took it well and the reason for the crash is unknown to me at this time. Some scavengers were spotted hovering around the wreckage in the back of Jon's car.




People were eating left over Fun-Fly food and Nikki had her custom food service going also, with "Meat Ball Subs" as the featured item today, I understand that they were very popular.




Gary had his scratch built Cessna out and it looked real good with a full cockpit detailed out. It did not fly, but the engine got tuned up to perfect running by Jon. Still needs some red and green running lights, I think.




Andrew had his Stealth Fighter airplane flying and one of his illuminated night flyers was buzzing around the flag pole after the sun had set. Johnny had a neat electric scale airplane going.




Justin had a new little electric powered "Rifle" speed plane out and flying today. It had to be about the fastest thing that I have seen yet at the field. On one flight, something went wrong and it turned into a yard dart and stuck in the ground.
But, to my surprise, with just a change out of the broken prop, it was soon flying once again.

We had a Rifle at our field a few weeks ago all I can say is man this thing is fast!!!
We had a Boomerang up doing 126 on Radar and this little thing was faster! Something resulted in the same kind of landing they are tuff.
Remember it will fly at half throttle
