One of my co-workers also flies R/C gliders and we got to talking the other week and found this little gem on the web. He ordered two of them and gave me one (what a nice guy wink.gif ). I was hoping to fly it this weekend, but HTUSA didn't have a Nicd or NiMH battery small enough, so I had to order one. Bummer sad.gif . But I'll have it flying for the glider fly in on the 11th.

Just a plain white foam glider wasn't gonna do. So...

Interesting name, alula...

Did you know that it means ba$tard wing?
It is a small projection of several small feathers on the leading edge of the wing of modern birds. smile.gif

What is HLG? huh.gif

The graphics are hand drawn using colored permanent markers. I tried to make it look like a Red-tailed Hawk. I haven't done the underside.

Yes, HLG means Hand Launch Glider, though this one is more of a Discus Launch. Here is a Youtube video:

Alula

Before I got the kit, I didn't know what an Alula was, but there's a description of it in the instruction booklet. If you follow the black lines from the white sticker in the center of the body/fuse to the leading edge, that's the spot.

I'm not sure I want to know where the G-spot of a bird is. I definitely don't want to know how you found out no.gif .

I had hoped to fly the Alula this Saturday at the glider fly in, but the battery I ordered from HTUSA was too big (dimension), so I broke down and ordered two from the website where I purchased the glider, www.dream-flight.com. Unfortunately, I won't have them in time for the fly in.

I have a question. With my Alula finished like a red-tail hawk, does it qualify as a "Scale" airplane? wink.gif

What size and type do you need? I have some weird sized spares that may work.
