The sailplane Gathering has been scheduled for Sunday the 25th.
I'll be there to set up the HighStart around 8am. Just show up and we'll plan on cooking around 11 or so. There wasn't a carved in stone date till now due to the discussion in other threads. I'll be bringing chips and drinks. P.S. Don't forget about the work party on Sat. the 24th! ![]() There will be no competitions, only discussions on future events or gatherings! -------------------- |

If you want a good turn out, you could do better than chips and drinks. Rib Eye and Strip Steaks and Pepper Bacon wrapped Fillets. A big bowl of Banana Pudding and Russell will retrieve the hi-start all day for you. Anyways, gook luck with the glider guiding and great fun for all. -------------------- Alvin Reed™ - MARCMAF Admin

I talked to a friend who's bringing out a special treat for those who show up! ![]() NOTE: Sorry about the second post! Thought it would help for those who just come on the site later on and don't go back into the discussion on the topic because they thought it was going to be on Saturday. Johnny's happy forecast sounded great, but in spite of it there were many brief showers throughout the day...
Nevertheless all the glider guys who showed up flew at least once. Johnny brought his Vista, Lee Carroll had a Radian and a Bird Of Time. Rob brought his Radian, and Robert showed up with an Uhu and a Spirit. Roger Hagler brought a Cirrus sailplane. I didn't know he had one... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- Frits - AMA Member 403246 (since 1990)

There were other things going on while the sailplanes did their thing...
Robert had a new experimental kite plane... Not sure if it flew... ![]() Rob showed up with three jets. I didn't see the big one in the air... ![]() Jon tried to get the NASCAR Brickyard 400 race, but it didn't happen... ![]() Mike Hess, even at his age, still does not know when to get out of the rain... ![]() Al Ayler showed up with a big engine and an odd test stand. Al tore the engine apart to fix some problem. I never heard it run... ![]() -------------------- Frits - AMA Member 403246 (since 1990)

Roger had me do a test glide that ended up with him hitting the flagpole!
Then it took 3 launches to get the weights right before I got 2 more flights on it. I got in 3 flights on mine all in all. And I know Lee got at least 2 launches or more on his! Glad they pitched in on retrieving the highStart. I was going through a lot of water! Can't wait to do it again! This post has been edited by Johnny_J on Jul 28 2010, 07:26 PM -------------------- |

Hopefully, the next time, I'll be there with my Radian and a finished Oly II. I was sorry I had to miss it yesterday, but it looks like the weather here in Houma was better than it was there. We didn't have any rain and plenty of big puffy clouds drawing warm air into them.
