Can you change the crystal out in the radio and rec(but make sure the
#s are the same)in a low band to high band radio?I have a radio that say is on
channell 13 and have a receiver and Tx crystal thats a #56.I pull out the crystals and swap.will the crystals work that ar apart or I have heard as long as they are in range of 5 (say like #25 will work up to only 30 or 25 will work with 20 only.I am guessing the
low band is like 11-36 and high band is 36-79.
I was just guessing at these numbers,I do have a 2.4 but, wondering about the basic futaba radio with Tx/Rx crystal sets of what will work and what wont on changing.
thanks for yalls time.

Kenny, it is not recommended to swap from low to high channels. I know people who have done it successfully but I would not try it. If you need a low band Rx I will swap you for the high band or sell you one for $15. Mike smile.gif

Thanks mike,I was just wondering cause I hear people saying that you
have to stay in within 5 digits.I have a channel 46 and me and robert are on it.
I do have a 2.4 but, want to learn good to fly first before I put a 100 rec in a
50.00 trainer.
I just didnt know if as long as you stayed the same Tx/Rx crystal set,if it mattered
if it was a low or high band.I do want to thank you for taking a few minutes and talking
to me on here about it.

As Mike said, "they" (whoever they is) advice against it, but I've changed crystals in transmitters and receivers alike from all over the frequency range. No ill effects whatsoever.

If it's easy enough to swap receivers with someone though, might as well go that route.

I have also swapped crystals with no problem, both in the receiver and transmitter. I swapped 59 to 24 and vice-versa.(that would be low to high) without any issues at all.....

I also have swapped crystals all over the band without ill effects.
My old 9-channel Futaba manual mentiones that to change crystals, you change them...

It mentions nothing about low or high numbers. It doesn't say anything about having to send the transmitter off somewhere to have it tuned, as some "experts" have told me...

I also have two more-recent Futaba 8-channel transmitters and I have swapped crystals on them too.

But don't go by what I think... biggrin.gif

I was just wondering cause back when I started years ago,I thought
I heard some people saying that you have to take the transmitter like to
radio south and have it and the rec matched.
I have a few like older rf127 and they are on channel 18 and one is 26
I think and I have the el cheapo futaba radio that comes with the nextar plane
thats on #46.
