"South Pit Ramblings" by Alvin Reed Sunday Afternoon November 8 Report/Pictures I knew that the L-4 Cub would be getting an early start this afternoon and I hurried on down to field so as not to miss anything. As I parked, I could not help but notice the excellent and thoughtful advertising for my web site that Elton Sullivan had put on his vehicle, Johnny Jones also has the decals on his as well. Thanks fellows, I knew it would pay off one day as I was so patient with you fellows at flying field way back in your youth. Alvin was back to flying today with this electric airplane that was right up his alley because it had a special "Anti Crash Technology" thing built in, but Alvin managed to over come that feature. ![]() Justin Peacock was back to flying fixed wing aircraft today. Mike McLaughlin was campaigning his P-51 Mustang in grand style. Roger Hagler had one of his larger airplane out today, the HyperIon. Andy Anderson was rummaging in his model trailer for a glow plug for one of his plank planes, but was flying his turbine jet several times. ![]() Wayne is just about through detailing out Tony's L-4 Cub, the flat clear coat has been applied and pay special notice to the finished window flashing and rivets. Even the tail wheel and mounting assembly are now Olive Drab. ![]() Tony assemblies the Cub, cranked up and ready to taxi, landing approach to the runway, and back on the ground as good as new. ![]() TJR had this sort of unusual radio controlled electric powered flying kite aircraft on show today. It sports a remote controlled gimbaling camera mount on board for some future aerial photographs. ![]() It was such a loverly day that some of the guys hung around till dark, good thing as Sam's battery was dead and we had to do a jump start to get him going. Darn it, I forgot to get a picture, but Russell has added a floor rug to his easy chair lounge area in the pavilion for added coziness and that at home feeling. -------------------- Alvin Reed™ - MARCMAF Admin

Others of us were at an Alabama/LSU football game watching party. It was a fine party, but I got in trouble. I am told that I ate about $20.00 worth of Hot Wings and got into the host's secret beer stash. Then we watched a Godfather movie marathon. -------------------- Alvin Reed™ - MARCMAF Admin

And some of us forgot about the Hattiesburg fly-in and were circling Mobile County in a Cessna 152 performing stalls and steep turns.
Plus I went to the South Alabama game. Kinda like watching a high school football game but with beer. |
