"South Pit Ramblings"

by Alvin Reed

Tuesday Afternoon September 29 Report/Pictures

On a mission from God, back out to the Secret Skunk Works Factory to check on general progress of the Cub covering and paint match check.
Tony had some rattle cans of paint to check the color against the green Solortex covering. Nope, Camo Green is not close enough to OD Green, back to the paint store and going to need some Ford Engine Blue for some little detail on the insignia.

Here is a detail shot of the about finished aileron push rod assembly, servo is mounted inside to the hatch cover. The ailerons are hinged to the wing in a very scale way.

Wayne is getting ready to come down the top of fuselage and up the vertical fin with covering. The radio compartment is neatly accessed through a hatch on bottom of fuselage.

The door has been covered inside and out, as well as the landing gear strut.

Here are some pictures to demonstrate the overall progress accomplished to date.
Looking very green now and the covering is a smooth job already, considering that the final heat shrinking has not even been started yet. The pilot looks to be right at home and is contemplating many many successful flights and seems to be the kind who will not tolerate any disfiguring mis-handling of him or the Cub.

I love that Solartex stuff. I barely needed to use a heat gun for a total of 5 minutes on the Decathlon. yes.gif

I bet my B-25 would look great in solartex. Maybe this winter I can buy a couple of rolls of solartex and redo my cub,B-25,and other planes. Tony, your cub is going to look great when it is done. Maybe the pilot will be able to parachut out of the plane? yickes.gif

I think it's my turn to be test pilot. Everyone wants me to fly a cub so bad so this would be the right time to fly a cub. So I'll be tony's test pilot. yickes.gif

Come on Tony, that would make Russell's day to be called on for the test pilot.

It's not like the colors are going to be matched on it anyways. tongue.gif laugh.gif boxers.gif
