Check out all of the burn spots that the jets put in the grass last weekend.

If the jet people cant do better than this I think they need to take them to another field.

Throw em all out!!!! That's the way to do it, I tell ya!!! Throw em all out!!! wacko.gif

If we threw everyone out that made a mark on the field, whether because of a wreck or whatever.. There wouldn't be anyone left allowed...

I guess we'll have to start taking pics of all the divets left from crashes & people leaving their trash and not picking it up and .....

Dang, and that home gardening magazine was just about to come out to write an article because we had such perfect grass. tongue.gif

Maybe we can just set the jets up on the south end and point their exhausts towards the swamp we have going down there to help dry it up from time to time.

Yes, I would equate that with doing anything else that leaves a bad looking bobo on the field and that is not inadvertent. Would not hurt to show a little more courtesy and interest in field appearance than to blow torch the grass.

I know that it would be impossible to not use the facility and leave some form of footprint. It is just sort of a sensitive thing for those who have over the years worked hard to make things look nice as possible.

Some folks, not only talking the jet blow torches, just don't seem to give a sheet and others go to great lengths to take care and watch out for careful operations. I rate myself about in the middle hopefully.

I had mine parked for starting where I don't think it left anything. It's not like you see a bunch of crap spraying everywhere... I usually go out of my way to help and keep things clean etc, so I'm a little offended as everything was just lumped together. angry.gif

There was a visitor Sunday but I'm pretty sure he started on the taxi pad as was recomended? I'm not sure exactly where the marks are so it's a little hard to tell what was what. I remember that one time there was a big todo about using the pad & most of us did for starting. So instead of griping and telling us to fly somewhere else, maybe a suggestion on exactly how you would like the jets started?

Maybe a couple of useful suggestions (other than start of the pilot pads which is being done)

1. Next time the county comes out, maybe they could make the 'startup' areas a little larger. It's possible that more people other than just jets would use them.

2. Maybe the club could invest in a couple of these.

I saw the jets being started on the grass several times Sunday, The bad part about it was one of them was only a couple of feet from the pad. If we made them true starting pads would they get used??

I don't think we're talking jet specific starting pads. I think that it would be an overall club benefit to have a larger asphalt pad for everything.

Yes, I think they would. 1 thing is that with several jets there, there's not enough room on the pad area for everyone's tools, starting accessories etc. Quite a lot of stuff to move around especially if you're working on a jet or plane.

I had no idea the jets were marks in the grass. I am going to make some JBDs for the start-up area. It would be nice if Trolls like Crash Kit, whom ever you are, would keep comments civil in the forum, rather than trying to pick a fight.

CRASH KIT is the club's Grass Mower and General Field Marshall and he always does a GREAT job cutting grass... But he's usually in a bad mood after ANY flying event... dry.gif laugh.gif

The last time Katt and her jets were here she left a few marks in the grass too...
CRASK KIT nearly went ballistic about them...

But where are those marks now? There gone!

A couple of weeks from now these new burn marks won't be visible, and within a couple of months THE WHOLE FIELD WILL BE BROWN!...

Seems to me that a couple of portable wedge-shaped blast deflectors is all we would need. thumbup.gif

Should the deflectors be movable or stationary?

Our Maintenance Superintendent/Grass Mower/Weed Whacker/Ant Killer despises any new obstructions that interfere with his mowing pattern... Especially those he can't run over and destroy...

I'm just saying... rolleyes.gif

Thanks, nstaller!
