Title: Reynolds Numbers.
Description: videos

CRASH 22 - February 23, 2012 06:07 PM (GMT)
:o There's a couple channels of science videos on the tube. Actually there are probably more then a couple of them but I stumpled into three run by the same guy. One is Deep Sky Videos, Sixty Symbols and the other is numberphile which I've not yet checked out. Granted, I'm not smart enough to make a good go at this. Truth be said, I AM smart enough but I've got a stinkin memory problem that just won't let me retain enough of the critical info from Day 1 to the end of a semester which is why my chapter work was always pretty good in physics but my semi and final were always pretty much like I'd never had the course. Kept me out of engineering.

But I always find the info fascinating and if I wait about 3 weeks, it's like seeing it new all over again. YAY!!!

Anyways, Sixty Symbols has a video on Reynolds Numbers which is just a basic description and shows some of the ways it affects airplanes.

It does not however specifically show us how the numbers just get smaller and smaller when we're dealing with model airplanes where bigger is better.

:bigplane: Dang hard to fly in 1/4 scale air I tell ya.

Give a watch and poke around the other afterwards, it's a couple hours of fun with a good connection.

And here's the preview on Deep Sky. If you like astronomy you'll like the walking and talking with some of todays astronomers.

Numberphile, which I've yet to watch so I can't attest to it.
