Alvin has actually been spotted at our flying field, but he doesn't take any pictures for his South Pits Ramblin' column on this forum any more.
I am afraid to ask him if it's okay to post pictures in lieu of his ramblin's, so I'll just sneak in a few. Perhaps he won't notice...
The last time I saw Alvin out and about, he was playing Angry Birds on my iPad, trying to beat Justin, who's a whiz at this game... Every now and then Alvin had to take a break because of attacks of Margarita-induced brain freezes...
I always thought Sam Pirkle was a quiet person, but, watch out! She fits right in with this crazy bunch!...
Oh, that's right... Sunday's field happenings...
Jon Koppisch flew his Slick... Paul Pridday brought his turbine powered helicopter... Those are Tony Pirkle's biplanes... There were several Cubs.
Al Ayler was all dressed up to preach, with long-sleeve shirt, polished shoes, tie
et al...
It was combat day, and five brave pilots showed up to do battle: Andrew Smith, Tony Pirkle, Mike McLaughlin, Robert Sanderson, Jon Koppisch, Justin Peacock and Rob Baker. I know, that's more than five, but today's pilots appeared to be as interchangeable as LiPo batteries... That's Donnie Hammett assisting Tony Pirkle with his plastic combat plane...
Bill Culberson surprised all of us when he showed up during a combat round with his new Yak-52, his latest full-scale toy. He turned, and for a moment it looked as if he wanted to engage in the battle, but quickly realized he was outnumbered and left the battle area...

There were some midairs, of course. A couple of planes got whacked pretty good. Andrew didn't do too badly. But Justin's Battle Axe got damaged. The last round was extremely exciting!
Rob Baker's LA Racer didn't do very well at all...
Much more in an upcoming Pits Report...
