Title: Last Sunday's Stuff...

Flying Dutchman - October 18, 2011 08:13 PM (GMT)
Alvin has actually been spotted at our flying field, but he doesn't take any pictures for his South Pits Ramblin' column on this forum any more.

I am afraid to ask him if it's okay to post pictures in lieu of his ramblin's, so I'll just sneak in a few. Perhaps he won't notice...

The last time I saw Alvin out and about, he was playing Angry Birds on my iPad, trying to beat Justin, who's a whiz at this game... Every now and then Alvin had to take a break because of attacks of Margarita-induced brain freezes...
I always thought Sam Pirkle was a quiet person, but, watch out! She fits right in with this crazy bunch!...

Oh, that's right... Sunday's field happenings...

Jon Koppisch flew his Slick... Paul Pridday brought his turbine powered helicopter... Those are Tony Pirkle's biplanes... There were several Cubs.
Al Ayler was all dressed up to preach, with long-sleeve shirt, polished shoes, tie et al...

It was combat day, and five brave pilots showed up to do battle: Andrew Smith, Tony Pirkle, Mike McLaughlin, Robert Sanderson, Jon Koppisch, Justin Peacock and Rob Baker. I know, that's more than five, but today's pilots appeared to be as interchangeable as LiPo batteries... That's Donnie Hammett assisting Tony Pirkle with his plastic combat plane...

Bill Culberson surprised all of us when he showed up during a combat round with his new Yak-52, his latest full-scale toy. He turned, and for a moment it looked as if he wanted to engage in the battle, but quickly realized he was outnumbered and left the battle area...

There were some midairs, of course. A couple of planes got whacked pretty good. Andrew didn't do too badly. But Justin's Battle Axe got damaged. The last round was extremely exciting!

Rob Baker's LA Racer didn't do very well at all...

Much more in an upcoming Pits Report...

Cool stuff on Sunday and had a blast I must say!!!! Just hated to miss the open flame events. Had to make the usual wal-fart run to get some grub for the week. I think open flames are sexxy, and rules are good as long as they do not infringe on fun every once in-a-while. As the wise old man said.... when the cat is away the mice will play or the only good thing about a lock is that it keeps a honest man honest.......... :D :hyper: :roflmao:  :woohoo: :fear:

Tony P - October 19, 2011 01:33 AM (GMT)
Dang it Donnie, you left to early :P

I know it, man if those dog gone vent pipes was not there and a no burning ban was not enforced because of the dump and surrounding houses was not to close, boy o boy we could have a little Chad mixer going on and a mushroom cloud from ---- well I guess dreams are better than actions. Or maybe a motion could be made at the next meeting. :yickes: O those were the days as part of EOD in the USMC.... Nothing like blowing and melting tanks to the ground in a couple of min. :D

Tony P - October 19, 2011 01:28 PM (GMT)
Melting Tanks :yickes:

We flew it this morning. Had to hold a LOT of up and a little left to get it to fly stright.

I'm sure it flew this way BEFORE the crash

I'll try to trim it up some before SATURDAY.

Yea, I have to go to the P-cola fair with the family Sunday. :D

The Round Wing will be ready for a Third try Saturday afternoon. :yickes:

The flagpole shaped flame did little damage to the wing.

Mike, you almost made it.

I have the little A-4. I need to bring it back out again too. I bet it could fly through fire.

Jon, when flying Robert's planes, especially if he's on a mission of destruction, it's perfectly alright to tell yourself: "Hey, it's not MY plane...!"

I'm surprised it lasted this long. :roflmao:

This just might be the Kiss of Death.

I got a light set for the F-18.
